This storm just hit ludicous speed, ground speed that is. It's moving at about 70mph. Whats left of the eye will be crossing hwy 82 near Brent AL in the next 20 minutes.

I'm on what was supposed to be the safe side of the eye... Nope! All the rain is over here. I've gotten and inch in the last hour. Not much wind but flash flood warnings are out for most of the state.

I'm safe, a little soggy but none the worse for wear... except my bedroom carpet. It got soaked again, carp! This makes the 3rd time in a year. I not even going to try to save it this time... Time for a new flooring solution.

The storm was traveling fast but still dumped about 4 inches of rain in a little less than 2 hours.

Whats left of the storm is crossing N. Georgia as I type. It'll be in NC by daylight.

I'm about tired of hurricanes, enough is enough. What... there were 27 named storms this year...

I took all the carpet out of our place 35 years ago and never missed it one bit! Hubby came home from work and ask 'what happend'hah. We couldn't afford regular wood flooring so we put in untility 1x4s in and it turn out beautuful like knotty pine. I didn't have any finger prints for a couple years from sanding it down but had some beautiful wood floors. None of that fake laminated crap for me.

My 15yr old graand son is in Atlanta ithout Wifi or web,he is saying he will tak daughters car to getto power, lol. Thar kid needs some convincing. I'd knock him out even if I had to climb a ladder to do so.

NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Zeta sped across the Southeast on Thursday, leaving a trail of damage and more than 2.5 million homes and businesses without power in Atlanta and beyond after pounding New Orleans with winds and water that splintered homes and were blamed for at least three deaths.

A Category 2 hurricane when it hit the southeastern Louisiana coast Wednesday, Zeta was still a tropical storm late Thursday morning with maximum sustained winds of 50 mph (85 kph) about 100 miles (155 kilometers) northeast of Asheville, North Carolina — unusual even in a region accustomed to hurricanes and their aftermath.

Glad you did ok with this one SuperV.
Yeah, beautiful sunny day for us, winds breeze about 30 out of the west, temp: 62° (this time yesterday it was 82°).
Hope @Bacpacker checks in.
The 'goodie part' went out of Bama further north than I thought it would.
I knew Hotlanta was going to get a good lick of the 'I-scream' sandwich.

The good news: people without power or internet don't complain much on Facebook :p.

I think the death toll is now 4. I do know 1 died in Alabama and 1 in Georgia.

I ended up with 5.25 inches of rain in 18hrs. Over 4 fell in a 2 hour period just after midnight.

I got all the soggy carpet from my bedroom pulled out into the yard this afternoon. My bedroom is dry now so I can sleep in there tonight.

Still have containers in my living room, hall and laundry room. That was one smart thing I did after the floods last fall. Everything that was going to sit on the floor was in a plastic tote of some type.

Still waiting to see if the laminate flooring in my living room survived, water came in along one wall. It was the first water I got up and dried the area well. Glad I was still awake and realized there was a problem.

Dad and I built this house in '74. It sits back into a hillside. Around the back
wall and sides we poured gravel, then perforated pipe then more gravel against the foundation so water could flow around the house. I think all that pipe is full of sand, no longer functioning. Twice now my duplex has flooded when we got over 5 inches of rain. That pipe is no longer doing it's job, needs replaced.

Peanut sorry you have these problems seems we keep finding more things to do to this house too and its fairly new. Very small for a house but only 15 yr old.
As the crow flys how far are you from the gulf?

Boats tossed out of the water in Bay St. Louis by Hurricane Zeta

Storm surge here in Bay St. Louis was measured between 8 and 10 feet overnight. Several boats were tossed by Hurricane Zeta and there was plenty of other damage on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, which saw some of the highest winds of the hurricane.
