Welcome!
As has already been mentioned, there is lots of information about prepping in the group. Go to the prepping section and see all of the topics. Some people here have been prepping most of their lives. It can be a lifestyle for some people. It is never too late to start stocking up on beans, bullets, and more! Beans and rice are considered basic foods to store, and it is easy to store them, but there is certainly more to prepping.

Welcome from Oregon.

Learning about what have for edible and medical plants on our property is still on our to do list.
it's quite a job to get it all identified...written up...leaf snap app helped..it's free...then..planted near house...oil markers to make sign for each plant...mostly for future for our daughter..
still in progress tho...
we have identified about 20 edible and medicinal plants..made areas and moved..
i have them on files in drive..pics and text..can be sent thru email..i hope

Welcome from Alaska!

Another welcome from Alaska, I am going to start prepping on new years 2023, so I have been collecting information.

LOVE this! Last year I started on a field guide/materia medica personalized for our rural property (we're still building on it, don't live there yet). Had to put the project on the back burner this year, but I look forward to returning to it. Identifying and photographing everything brings me great joy - and it makes me more aware of just how much we have.

For what it's worth, I was able to get a 'plant list' from a nearby Nature Conservancy property (they publish a list of plants with scientific names, that occur on the property) - it's been incredibly helpful in helping me to know what grows in the area and to know what would grow well in the area (for instances when I wanted to introduce some sort of native edible). If you have some sort of preserve in your area (or in a nearby county), you might check and see if they publish a plant list.

If your worried about the wheat supply....wait until you hear about the diesel supply:

Welcome to the group. It's a hard time to be new to prepping, so if you find yourself struggling, it doesn't mean you're doing it wrong, it just means it's hard.

we knew about the diesel....
when we realized how fast the central bank elitists were moving and propagandizing all..
the ESG guidelines...
nationalization of energy...
the covid mess they created...with their biological weapons..
they're only just beginning to make mankind suffer...
food is their major weapon...
God help us all.

we already have a book for our specific area...illustrations...identification of plants...food and medicinal uses...also includes the vitamins..
plus...their ideal growing conditions...
we identify...try small amount...we don't combine til we know their composition..interaction with other plants

it's been extensive...but..fun...i remember lots of these same plants as a kid...we had them...growing up in our rural area...my folks were mountain people..
sure identification is most important..
you are blessed to own such a large area

It sounds like you have a handle on most everything. You will find that there are threads here on almost any topic, Just use the search function in the upper right corner of the page and put in a key word and you will start to see.

I tend to follow the Garden series (someone starts a new 1 every year), Garden 2022

There are ones discussing the use of solar, batteries, and the such.

And there are a lot on food storage.

You will also fine that people post what they are doing today: What's everybody doing today?

They also post the shortages that they are seeing in the markets, this is interesting because we have some folks in Europe and Australia that provide a different perspective. What Shortages are You Seeing?

Anyway welcome and start posting, you will quickly find yourself part of a community/family of people here.....
