"Sunday Morning Comin' Down..." ;)

Easy day today, I got a lot done in the last two days and I'm actually a little stiff & sore, but I'm about to light that campfire in the yard & sit in a comfortable camp chair & drink my hot tea, so that'll work. No big plans for the day, just rest and recovery from the porch project, plus yard work---pulled more weeds yesterday while waiting for the second elastomeric coat to dry. Only found a handful of goathead vines, so I'm winning that war... "Hallelujah!" Might enjoy some entertainment later in the form of TV or a good Western novel. I've been working my way through the 'Red Clark' series of Westerns, they are very entertaining! Red is quite the character, lol... and yet so human. I love the old expressions in those books, you just don't see those in modern Westerns. I'm off to light that campfire...

Maybe squirrels pitching stuff at him. I wondered the same.
Morning animal chores, went to church, little granddaughter wanted Panda Express for lunch. Haven't had that in awhile, but remembered it being better.
Having coffee, then out to the greenhouse to load more dirt into the big grow box. And to put some lettuce and spinach seed in some empty big pots. Husband says he might get out there with the tractor, but I suspect he'll be taking a nap.

what does that mean?! Training for asteriods??

LOL, no, we were discussing and learning about certain weapons capabilities that certain agencies have that can come from above. I actually learned something today, lol.

We got Jakes little buck butchered and put in the freezer this afternoon. We had jalapeños and onions from the garden so we ground them up in the burger. We made roasts stew meat fry meat and burger. We are going to fry tenderloin tonight.

Slept a long time, fed my head, gobbled some pain relievers and swelling reducers (OTC no fun stuff.) Made my signature beef ramen stir fry and limped back to tend my daily wanderings among forums.

6-1/2 hours of tending the campfire, raking excess needles & cones and burning them, putting out the fire and watering all the trees & plants (taking my time so they got plenty of agua), and pulling even MORE weeds till my trash bin is now overflowing. Jeez, I didn't expect this to turn into a work day, but it's alright, my yard is looking better & better every day. All showered up now, feet are tired, so the 'Red Clark' Western wins out over TV... I just ate a sandwich with a tall glass of chocolate milk, now I'm ready to get horizontal. Trash day manana, and I'll cut my hair too before running to town. For now, it's all about relaxation... Hasta Luego!!!

So our big buck injured himself . We should have took him to the auction yesterday. He tried jumping on the roof of his shed like the girls been doing and he;s probably too big to do it and cut his leg just above the hoof on the metal roof. At least that is our guess we didn't see it happen but there is nothing else sharp in the pasture. So I bandaged him up pretty good and put him in his goat house. I hope he heals up ok. I don't want to give him an antibiotic because it has a 28 day withdrawel period and the auction is in a few weeks
He's limping pretty bad and its a fairly deep cut but not quite bad enough for the vet( I hope)
And my dessert I made didn't really turn out. It's called "Magic cake" , sort of a custard cake but didn't like the consistancy. Otto liked it....( the dog)

It's too late now, but if it was a clean cut I would have tried gluing it. I would resist the urge to look at it and clean it. Animals heal up quick if they are left to it.

Wet wounds kept dry (no ointments) air is good. Dry wounds wet (ointments).

If he is flexing the wound too much, pad the back of the fetlock (don't know goat talk) so he can't, for a week.

Apologies if you know all this, no patronizing intended.

Tough day yesterday, two of my Husband's friends rented a truck and cleared all of his projects and materials out of the storage unit. They're going to take care of packing it all up and getting it sold for me.
Spent most of today in my chair, but managed to get moving a bit in the afternoon and started picking apples. Filled two and half bushels, might another one or two still on the tree. No where near as many apples as last year, when it gave me nine bushels. Couple of friends planning to come over at some point to have an apple processing day. It was strangely warm and humid out there today, felt really strange to work up a sweat picking apples at the end of October.
That deer meat looks good. I wonder if I should try hunting this year. Haven't been out for the last five years or so.

Well, I actually wound up taking a nap, so now I'm having a cold beer (or two), lol. I really got some things done in the last three days, so I'm happy, but also pleasantly tired. Luckily, the nap was only an hour or two, and I'm still a bit tired, so I shouldn't have much trouble sleeping tonight... not after a few beers and maybe another meal, lol. Manana, I take it easier and cut my hair, then run to town to bag some items for my trail ride on Tuesday! I gotta buy another quart of oil for my bike, synthetic 4-stroke cycle oil to top off what's already in the bike... the oil in the bike is fairly new, so I won't change it yet, I changed it a while ago and the oil still has plenty of life left. All I gotta do is bring the oil to the upper mark in the view port or window where I normally check it, that will make for smooth shifting (wet clutch) in this KLR 650.

I had a couple really good days early in the week, got a lot done. My 6 month check up went well, AC1 at 5.2. They want me to come back this week, some odd numbers on my tests, glucose levels wacky and something else. I'm not concerned, numbers that appear wacky for normal people are understandable when someone has cfs.

Had a quiet weekend, rained most of it.

It's so good to have someone (his friends) to take care of some things! Every little bit makes a difference!

Counting my bunnies. My Rex doe kindled yesterday and had 7 kits. No broken coats but 2 look like REW. Since they are pure Rex I might look to sell them all this round. The money would be nice to help with the moving fund.

Now I just need my other two does to kindle already!

no apologies needed you are probably right...the vet tells me the same thing all the time ( keep wound open so it heals) which I will do once it dries up a little. I put iodine on it, and paper towel held in place by duct tape. I will take it off today. Goats are pretty tough and usually heal up well. I just worry about them getting dirt in the wound and it getting infected but I will at least spray some of the silver stuff on it that lets the air through. He hops on 3 legs and they are all staying in today because it's pouring. Goats don't like getting wet

Town run, and since I gotta go, I reckon I'll stop in at the Home Depot and see what sort of sheet products they have available for the front porch... maybe something treated or some sort of laminate with water-repellent or waterproof qualities. Gotta grab oil for the cycle, though I'm seeing clouds over the mountains... hope they're gone by tomorrow, otherwise I may have to change my riding plans. I'll still go riding, just closer to home, I've wanted to check out Red Sands OHV Rec Area south of Alamo, and also Oliver Lee Memorial State Park over by the mouth of Dog Canyon, which is a huge canyon within sight of my kitchen window. Close sight too... the canyon is BIG! I think there might even be some trail riding over there, which would be the purpose of my recon... I know one can ride at Red Sands, but if the "Sands" are too deep, then my bike won't like the venue. Deep sand is the nemesis of an Enduro or "dual sport bike" this heavy...

I haven't posted so much due to work and we've had a death in the family (my cousin's mother. He's related by marriage). I'm also house sitting part of this week.

I called ADT and got my rate reduced.
Reminded Mom that the funeral is at one and ir will be livestreamed from the church.
Watched Top Gun Maverick.

Eldest granddaughter worked with Gramma to make chocolate chip cookies for desert after Sunday dinner. She went home with excess cookies and I questioned if there any left dir Grampa. I was assured there some for me. Later I found out got the burned ones.

Younger granddaughter helped me shell wax beans to collect seeds for next year. I took care of miscellaneous stuff then ... installed gamma seal lids for The Princess. Never enjoyed that task. So I put together a lid installation rig.

Two sections of all thread 4 nuts, 4 washers. A racheting box end wrench completed the kit.

Crank down on both rop nuts until I heard it click in place on both sides. Turn bucket 90 and repeat. Now The Princess can install the lids herself (as if that will happen).

;)

If he will tolerate it, have him stand with his cut foot in a bucket of tepid epsom salt water for about 15 min. Works wonders, but sometimes they don't know what's good for them and don't want to participate 😖 Looks like I'm late.

Man, I can't believe I spent 5 hours running errands today, but the clock don't lie... here are stops made during my jaunt:

1) Dollar General for two foil roasting pans, got the holidays coming up, yeah?

2) Home Depot to buy paint roller naps and epoxy, plus I checked out sheet products for my front porch.

3) Lowe's to check sheet products, and I found something I really like... more on that in another thread.

4) USPS stop to mail newspaper clippings to my friend "T-Bone" on the beach in Coronado, he'll get a laugh out of 'em.

5) Library drop for two 'Red Clark' Westerns I already read.

6) Paid my Internet bill at the TDS office in town (local outfit that provides service).

7) Bought some sweet Castrol 4-stroke oil for the thumper, 10W-40 'full synthetic' to match the oil already in the bike.

8) WallyWorld run, where I dropped $250 on various commodities, lol. $100 cash back as well for 'fun tickets!'

9) Speedway for fuel, where I topped off 'The Mighty Camry' at $3.31 per gallon of regular unleaded, and bought 7 gallons of premium gas for the bike ride manana! The bike tank is actually something like 6.6 gallons, and it's on 'Reserve' right now, so dumping this gas into the tank will save me a stop at the service station in the morning.

Well, I think that's all, it has been a hectic day, that's for sure... but here's the GOOD NEWS! On top of my regular beer purchase (in friggin' quantity, lol), I picked up this JD Tennessee Apple, an "Apple Liqueur Blended With Jack Daniel's Tennessee Whiskey"---HOORAY FOR THE VOLUNTEER STATE!!! I'll be doing a few tall shots of this stuff pronto, lol.

P.S. Looks like a friggin' watermelon patch on my bar & kitchen counter! Cue the Elvin Bishop tune! Here ya go, don't say I never do y'all any favors, BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

Elvin Bishop

Hey, look at the bright side, it ain't the Pistols, lol... but wait, some of those Pistols tunes aren't so bad! 🤣

Pistols---Lonely Boy

Don't get me started on the LSO numbers (London Symphony Orchestra), or we'll be here all night... and I gots material to post elsewhere, lol. Apropos of nothing, here's my brand-stinking-new 4G FLIP-PHONE which I boughts today at WallyWorld (along with a $30 prepaid "No-Contract Wireless" phone card), BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! 😒

IMG_1096.JPG

Dang, that JD TN Apple ain't bad, I think I'll throw it in the fridge for upcoming holiday action (if it even lasts that long, which is unlikely, lol). Sheeeee-it, lemme post up pics of our local Sacramento Mountains as seen from US54, might as well start with Dog Canyon, though the weather has improved and I probably won't ride there manana... 🤔

Here's another shot taken from a different angle a little farther north, and over four hours later:

Pretty deep canyon back there, lol... here are two shots of the distant peak Sierra Blanca (roughly 12,000' in elevation) as seen from south of Alamo, I reckon the peak is about 35 or 40 miles away as the crow flies. Look to the left under that mini-front or whatever it is over the mountains, and you'll see Sierra Blanca, I put the zoom on for the second pic, almost looks like it's raining or snowing up there! There's a ski resort on Sierra Blanca, it's called 'Ski Apache!' What that means is if ya don't haul @$$ fast enough down the runs, some Mescalero will lift your hair, LOL. Dang, I HATE IT when that happens!!! I only gots so much hair left as it is!!! :eyeballs:

ALRIGHT, BACK TO THE SITE, TIME TO MOVE ON, NOTHING TO SEE HERE, LOL... :waiting:

Installed a light over the work bench in the church’s new maintenance building and convert a stairway fluorescent light to LED.

Finish reloading for the 2023 season.

Trouble shoot why the zero turn mower stop moving. Engine runs and blades turn, no self propelling. Belt off pulley and hydraulic fluid reservoir empty. Fluid leak somewhere. I’m pass the age to be laying on a cold concrete floor!
