Howdy everyone! I reside here on ten acres in the backwoods of Alabama, the Heart of Dixie. Only tie to the grid I have is a water spigot Dad and I installed, but other than that no electricity, trash service, etc. I'm currently in the process of building up the homestead as I've only been here for roughly half a year, so I don't have any animals at the moment besides my meow meow: Biscuit. Right now I'm living in a 22-ft camper but am clearing off a spot to start building a cabin. Most of my livestock experience is chickens, but I have taken care of cattle and horses for a family farm down the road a ways. Planted small gardens the past few years with plans on a huge upgrade this spring.
Looking forward to chatting with all y'all and learning more!

Some pretty country, quite the variety throughout the state! There are quite a few on here from Texas. Many different areas!
Around here it's mostly timber with some open farmland and hay fields. River is right down the road and there are some absolutely gorgeous spots on the river. One phrase says: "Alabama the Beautiful"

Hey from another bama guy. Tuscaloosa is the nearest big town to me, shop there sometimes. I live on the farm where I was born, so does my very elderly dad. He was born here too.

We got out of the cattle and peach business about 5 years ago. Still have a horse, donkey and an orphan calf. My cousin runs cattle here now, nice. I get to watch them in the pastures but don't have to feed them! lol.

I've been to Tuscaloosa a handful of times to watch Bama play. You ever go to Bryant-Denny?

Welcome from NW Canada where we have free air conditioning. No electricity needed.

If you'd like to spend time in one of those steam bath things whatever they're called, you can just come down here during the summer.

Welcome from NE Florida.
We left the big metropolitan area of South Florida almost 30 years ago and now live on a dead end dirt road 6 miles outside a one stop light town of less than 2,000 people.
Wife is the farmer, I'm just the "hired hand".
My avatar is her mare at dusk on the homestead, taken with my game camera i had set up to see if the foxes were nosing around the chicken pen.

Haven't been to a game in many years and I avoid T-town on game day. I drive by the stadium occasionally if I'm going to the only asian market in town. The only place to buy lamb meat is by the campus and the best shrimp Po' Boy is on that side of the river also.

The university has had an explosion of growth the last decade. And all the construction to go along with it, a good place to avoid. This was a few weeks ago, sept I think.

I was at the Texas A&M game earlier this year. Nail biter.

Greetings from Alamogordo, New Mexico! Or darned close to it anyway... 5 or 6 miles south of town in a rural subdivision, aye? Not a bad place to live, mighty quiet, which is just the way I like it, especially on a Sunday, lol.

I named my 12' Minifish sailboat the 'HEART OF DIXIE'---just so ya know I'm a Southerner at heart, lol. I sailed the length of the Salton Sea aboard that Minifish, roughly 30 nautical miles... I later sold the boat for a paltry sum to a dad who wanted to teach his kids to sail, right? Racking up good karma points, lol. ;)

Here's a link to a thread at this site which shows the 'HEART OF DIXIE!!!" Awesome little boat, though I'm really a diehard old school original Laser fan... 14' racing dinghy with a 76-square-foot mainsail, lol. Here's the link to the Minifish pics:

Sailing The Salton Sea!!!

And here's another link to some Baja island shots back in the heyday of Laser sailing, lol... :D

Random outdoor adventure shots...

There are cool shots on both pages of that thread, you can scroll past the text to see the pics pronto, aye?

Edit: Gotta tap that second link twice, clearing it the first time if the pics don't surface, lol... cool shots there!
