Hey, I'd buy a ticket to see someone use a snow blower on a roof... 🤣
I don’t have a picture, but we used one on the multi-family building one particularly snowy winter. It’s a flat roof though so I thinks it was safe to do. 🤷‍♀️

My vacation hits just keep on coming. Calling the plumber in the morning. Looks like new hot water heater is in cards.

We just got home from the FFA banquet at the high school. Jake received The Star Green Hand award given to the best all around Freshman plus a couple more awards. Alex and I made an offer on a house in town today to fix up. After finishing our development I thought I could sit around for the summer. I haven’t even made it a month and already trying to find something to do.

So last weekend was traveling 10+ hours in a day to go to a memorial service. This weekend was about 10 hours in a day for a 2 year old’s birthday party 🥳. Then Sunday we went looking for mushrooms 🍄 @Hooch we didn’t find any either- still 2’ if snow in some spots. Then up in the mountains to a little town that has a great hometown nursery. So got a few plants and had lunch. Today back at’er. After work, got peppers 🌶️ planted. Tomorrow will shoot for tomatoes.

I'm not sure where the day went, but it started with rain and mud and animal chores. Husband had a midline bandage change appt in the bigger town, and a blood draw. Got granddaughter's old room scrubbed down this afternoon, boy that was a job. Levi the terror of a neighbor hung out till his mom got home from work this evening. She called and said the dad had to be somewhere else, so I said ok. He stayed for supper, too. Little granddaughter found a baby bird, so that kept them busy, feeding it and pampering it.

Finally arrived in Eagle, Colorado about 8:45pm. I had left home at 2:30am, thinking I would drive a while and then take a nap for 2 or 3 hours, then drive the rest of the way. I pulled off at a Petro at York, Nebraska about 6:45am and crashed out. Didn't wake up til almost 11am, so I was behind the 8 ball the rest of the day. On top of that it rained all the way through Nebraska and Central Kansas. Didn't quit til somewhere past Hays. Anyway I'm here now, the hotel room is fantastic for the cost, and I'm gonna sign off because I have to be up at 2AM for a 3AM meeting. Have a good night, everybody!

My sister is visiting so we headed down to Golden, Colorado for the day. Just to walk around. Had an fantastic lunch at The Sherpa House, a Nepali restaurant. We sat on the outdoor patio, which was really inviting. It wasn't busy (we were there after normal lunch hours) and we talked for quite a while with a Sherpa guide from Nepal who comes and works here during the tour off season. Highly recommended if you ever find yourself in Golden. Food and atmosphere were excellent.

Yea! I have a working aircond! I still have to weather seal it from both sides and put my wood trim back on.

Dad and I built this 2 family duplex after the tornado in ‘74. He got a deal on odd sized windows for this brick house. We can’t put a standard size window air conditioner in any of them. So, when I needed ac I had to disassemble the window down to the frame and remove it. Then build panels to fill all the empty space and sandwich insulation/foam and weather stripping. Never make the cover of home & garden but it’ll work.

Anyway that was today’s project. It’s working fine, cooling just like it’s supposed to.

Brick house, eh? I was just gonna say that you could install that unit directly into a wall, but if it's a brick home, that'd be more trouble than it's worth. With these manufactured homes, it's so easy to put those A/C units into the walls, and that frees up way more natural light through the windows. All one has to do is build a simple frame to help support the unit, and add trim around it inside & out. Oh, well, can't win 'em all... if the unit works, that's the important thing. ;)

Oh, yeah, those tequila shots whetted my appetite and I wound up macking a big ol' burrito plate, so the busthead cider and the bong hit got "canceled" like a rebel flag at a libtard convention, lol. I could probably write a scary story about that blasted cider: THE BUSTHEAD CIDER THAT WOULDN'T DIE! Stuff just won't give up the ghost, lol. Meh, maybe tomorrow... tonight, I'm reading a Western and ultimately getting a good night's sleep. I'm happy with the progress I made in the bathrooms today... Cheers! :D

Mo, I'm glad your day was pleasant.

Grimm, sorry to hear about the troubles with Roo.

Wingnut, funny you mentioned Tequila because my WTForecast app said something about it being so hot you could lick your arm to get the salt for the tequila shot.

Got brain freeze now. I ended up going into town and picking up food from the Mexican place for my friend. Sat with him while he ate and we discussed tools and he vented about frustrations with work. We went met over at the gas station so I could put gas in his car. He *still* has not received the $4k his work owes him. Popped into Walmart to grab some things and went back over. By then his gf was home. He was in a much better mood but was tired. He bottle fed the new kitten and brought the older ones out to eat. I got to pet them and play with them. I had grabbed a sandwich from walmart and was eating when the gf's cat came over to sniff. She's had him 10+ years and he's never eaten table scraps. Only sniffs at stuff. Well, he started nibbling on my sandwich. I broke off some of the turkey meat for him and he ate it. They were both laughing about it and the cat got mad when I wrapped my sandwich up. He was trying to get it back out. I decided to save it for later. I left just as the mail truck was passing & gave my friend a heads up. He was waiting for a gift he got-- a beading loom-- for his gf. She really is a sweetheart so I wish I'd seen her face when she got it. She was very happy. He also got her a bunch of beads to use on it. He finally has someone who appreciates his efforts and she finally has someone who actually gives a damn and does stuff for her out of kindness and love.

Cooked dinner and am about to rack out for the night. I did take a nap after getting home because the heat got me. It was 92° in the shade.

Washing the cat couch blanket (finally), the cats have been shedding with summer around the corner... already watered too, despite talk of rain in the weather forecast. I've been disappointed too many times in the past three months to trust those frustrating weather forecasts... the high desert is DRY for a reason. 😒

That was good timing on those bathrooms, I didn't realize we had rain in the forecast all week... hadn't checked lately, you understand. Plus the bathrooms look so good with the rugs back in there! When I get around to doing the vinyl floors, I'm gonna go with white or nearly-white vinyl, just to keep the rooms bright & cheerful. :D

Think I'll take it easy today, despite getting a good night's sleep last night I still feel a bit worn down... gonna make a nice big breakfast here pronto, then watch a movie or something. I'm also in the middle of a good Western, so that may figure into the equation, along with a nap, lol. I sure hope it rains later, I sleep well when it's raining outside...

Some coworkers went looking as well n nothing.. nighttime temps need to rise up in the mountains still.

New tire on truck.
Plumber coming tomorrow with new hot water heater.
Roofer coming next week to look at roof. We’re going to go with a metal roof. Differing opinions here on color. Dad thinks red. I think either dark green or dark gray. Any of them would look good on a log cabin.

Extremely windy here today and expecting rain Any minute. At least yard work is mostly done.

I have been putting Roo to work since this weekend. Monday she spent the day scooping dog poop from the backyard and washing the hard floors with a toothbrush. Today she is doing her laundry (I spent yesterday doing mine and towels) and washing walls with a magic eraser. To be honest the magic eraser was one of the mops not the sponges. I got it to make cleaning the walls when we move easier and faster. The last move K used the one we had to wash the floors and we had to scrub the walls by hand and you could see the scrub marks on the walls. He now knows to keep his hands off my cleaning tools unless he talks to me first.

Got some boxes to start packing up my books. I intend to take pictures before I close each box so I can inventory my books. Too many times I have bought a book only to find years later I already have a copy or two or three. Plus I want a list in case of damage down the road. I really just want K to fix one of the doors on the barrister bookcase but it has to be empty. We agreed to fix things that need to be fixed before the move so we don't move broken things we will might never fix.

Trying to eat out of our pantry more than adding to it right now. K was worried about the freezers but I reminded him I have 2 pressure canners and hundreds of jars. He got the picture. If we can everything in there we don't have to figure out how to keep it from defrosting during the move.

Been relaxing today. Had frustrating call w/ Fedex and then with HD. Fedex basically said that because they didn't know where their driver left my package & they weren't bothering to look for it and had me look for it outside and that the "investigation" had been open more than 72 hours that they were now closing it. I disagreed but the guy from India didn't care. Said case closed & HD has to file a lost package claim. HD rep refused to do that bc Fedex claimed it was delivered properly. Said I have to file a dispute with CC company.

Went for a brief walk and cooked for Mom. Currently sitting with cats on my lap but have to get up bc my bladder has been overactive all day.

Went down to the farm and lumber store. Got some weather strip foam to seal up around my new ac. Tried a roll of dense round foam, makes great air tight seals. Got some of the expanding foam in a can too, handy stuff.

I talked to the lady who runs the store, saw her Fil at the fiddlers convention in feb. He told me his son was picking again. Confirmed it, he’s also looking for folks to pick with. Gave mrs L my number. Hope I hear from him, plays banjo.

Anyway, got the weather stripping done for my new ac. Got some more work to do on the outside. Raining currently, we’ll see what tomorrow holds. Came a flood in Birmingham today, literally. I had blue sky and sunshine.

Welp, it appears that I messed up.

I had thought that the job I bid to in Colorado, was going to move east later on this summer. I found out it's going back west. The gang will be in Colorado until July, then move to Reno, Nevada in late July or August.

No thanks!

I've already got my name in for a different position in Iowa. If I don't catch that gig, I'll be putting in for any job in the Midwest. Working in the Colorado River canyon sucks. Starting at 3am for 8 straight days sucks. But, it could be worse. I could be where I was at before, so I won't complain much more...

Harris has a good buffet in Reno tho..

Work is kicking my butt this week n I'm tired.
Wet pine is heavy and my machine has several issues that make trying to stack heavy wet lumber is frustrated and tiring.
At home is good news at least..the weather has been very pretty..70's everything is super green , flowers everywhere..babies everywhere.
I have turkey chicks that need to get in a bigger broader today.
I love springtime! I got a few plants in the ground too..I need to water..

Peanut, I don't think I've seen dense round foam-- is it like the stuff to insulate pipes?

Spike, that sucks. And I would say HELL NO to going to Nevada in the hottest part of summer. Hope you can find a good gig that works out for you. As an aside, my family went to Reno when I was a kid. I remember a boxing kangaroo fighting a little person in a ring there. Don't think they can get away with that nowadays.

Wingnut, I hope you can find some cold beer and get cooled off. It's been hot out here lately.

Hooch, I hope it stays a decent temperature and that you can get some rest soon. Yeah, wet pine sucks to move around.

I got up early & ran to the store to get some primer, mineral spirits (my surround's instructions said to clean it with mineral spirits if any adhesive gets on the front), and some food.

Then I went to the post office to get mail but they had my box locked as they lost my paperwork to renew the box AGAIN. This is the 3rd time in the past several years. At least they didn't make me pay to unlock this time and didn't make me go home and find the last electric bill. I pulled out my voter registration card to show her and she accepted it. The other employee (the one whom I suspect lost my paperwork) wouldn't accept voter registration card even though the forms specifically say it is a valid ID/proof. This one also handed my my mail and said she knew locking the box was a mistake.

Got home, put groceries away, gave Mom her package, fed kitties, had to lure one of the cats that zerged into her room out with food & singing "On Topal Bay" from Elder Scrolls Online.

I'm about to take my vitamins and morning meds.

I've had a busy couple of days! Walked yesterday and today.
picked up my friend and went to town, yesterday. Tractor Supply, Aldi, Walmart, Harbor Freight (for pick).
Got her and my stuff home and termite guy came over. $1100. We will do 6 months same as cash.
Fellow came this morning and treated house.
Today, I walked dogs.
Grilled deer sausage.
Washed whites.
Pressure canned some leftovers.
And a bunch of little chores.

$1100 sounds like a lot - made my eyes bulge reading it, but my great aunt and uncle had termites. It wasn't discovered until they went to sell it (to my knowledge). The house wasn't that old and had to be torn down because it was so severe. So $1100 sounds like a lot but not nearly as much as replacing the structure.

Got home and mowed the lawn after work last night so didn't get anything more in the ground. Hoping tonight to do more.
Currently there is a company here replacing windshields on 4 of the vehicles o_O They came here and we are getting a multi vehicle discount. Wish folks would take care of these things when it happens. Two rigs came to us with the condition, the other two were Hubby. Anyhoo, will be nice to be able to see through an uncracked windshield.

It's been a day. Missed a step, slipped and slammed my leg into the newel post, so that hurts and I limp funny :p. Coach said walk it off, so I cut the grass, did the trash, put mulch rings around the 2 tomatoes and a hosta. Lori is getting groceries, so then we can hump them up and down the stairs. At least the weather
is fabulous today!!

Ha Ha, Dade...a flesh wound. Yep.
Am wiped out and having some coffee to get some energy to put away all the groceries. Animal and greenhouse chores this morning, then to post office, then to visit mom. She was pretty out of it. Part of her daily doings is "music therapy" before lunch. I suggested Cash or Patsy Cline. They had on 70's stuff, so I was rocking out with her with, "Jesus Christ, Superstar", actually one of my favorites. She was oblivious. She had been brought to chapel service this morning and will be getting her hair done this afternoon. She had earrings on. She couldn't remember any of it. We looked at a flower picture book together and talked flowers. Then to the business office to write them a $10K check. Off to Walmart, where husband wanted to order 3 more pairs of glasses. I filled a cart. Then to chic fil a for lunch, and ate it in the Aldi parking lot where I filled a cart. The bummer about filling a cart, is that it's got to be dated and put away.

snappy, $1100 sounds insane! But, as LadyLocust said it's cheaper than replacing structures.

LadyLocust, I hope the windshield replacements go well.

Dade, Ouch. Hope you heal quickly. I'm giggling about the "hump them up and down the stairs" bit because it's Wednesday. Humpday! LOL. Mike Mike! Guess what day it is!? Anyway, Loved that Monty Python skit.

I decided to do some inbox cleanup of my e-mail. Something glitched and it deleted 10k messages, but that was a good thing. I'd gone through e-mails from 2018 to 2021 to delete them and still needed to delete from 2022 to current. But I also had to make sure I didn't delete anything I wanted to keep and that I marked certain things as spam. My e-mail only lets me see about 25 emails per page. I can't select the e-mails from more than one page at a time. So I had to delete 25 at a time. After 10k were deleted I still had at least 2k left to delete. (On another forum I mistakenly thought it was 10 per page but I just checked another folder to confirm the number).

My inbox looks so barren. LOL.
