Market went well, sold everything except some collards which I made for dinner. Still have a bunch to process ( in the garden before the first freeze)
Lots of festivals going on, and it rained early this morning so less people than usual. Surprised we did well but then again not, some other vendors didn't show up, I was the only one selling bread today but it lasted longer than usual.

He said garden railroad, only one i've seen was in santa clarita ca. A guy would set up his train in his garden and give little kids rides. Just at christmas, the entire cul-de-sac put on an incredible light display. The kids loved it... great light show.

I thought this was a garden railroad... 🤣

There is a club in Indiana with that size: Indiana Live Steamers

The local Garden railroad club is : Media - Greater Cincinnati Garden Railway Society

Made a batch of holiday spice cookies- apple shaped for the cidering gathering tomorrow. Got summer kitchen cleaned up for the most part. Finished ironing, changed our bedding and scrubbed the bathroom. Was awake between midnight and 3 AM so it’s just 6 but feels later to me eyeballs 👀. Pulled the old mother stoddard beans. They didn’t well this year. My bean wall with scarlet runners is going strong still. Should have a good harvest from them. Hubby made a big ol’ pile of weeds to burn. Will do that in the near future.

🤫👻👽👾🌚👿🤡🦴Just a few things for you to dream about tonight!!😉
Oh no LadyLocust, you didn't sleep because of the dreams!! Glad to know it worked, but here are better things to dream about tonight...🌷🌴🌺🐰🐴🐇! Oh, and I put the voodoo doll away, so you shouldn't have any weird pinching feelings tonight!!😉

Kept busy with odds and ends at home all day. Two buckets of tomatoes and peppers. I released the lone slate turkey from the cage in a cage she's been in to roam with the chocolate and bronze turkeys. Held my breath. Walked away and checked on her early evening, and they were all pals. No one beat her up. I have baby guineas in tubs, and they were getting bigger, so added another tub and split them up further. Unloaded the dehydrator and filled it up again with tomatoes. Finished jar sealing a bunch of dried foods that needed doing....grits, freeze dried cheeses, sour cream powder, freeze dried cottage cheese. And husband is doing somewhat better, not yelping in pain anymore, but not using his left arm. So getting him dressed, putting shoes and socks on him, helping him get to one spot from another, all that. He has another orthopedic appt Monday. No snakes today, but neighbor boy Levi was over this morning, asking what's been going on, and I told him the story. He stayed awhile, but was leaving for a farm auction with his dad. I swear I saw him looking carefully as he walked down the path and driveway.

Good! I'll be on the look out for that going forward. I did not expect to have a problem with my adult hens. Shame i lost one... may lose another. My oldest hen seems to be the one doing all the attacking, still trying to peck the newbies through chainlink. She's 5 and rarely lays, if she continues this bs she's going in a pot.

Overcast, didn't see the eclipse. Watched college ball, several good games today. While watching i did some cleaning, gave the bathroom a good scrubbing, washed mats and rugs. Got the hall then started on the kitchen...

We've been working on fall cleaning now that most of our harvest has died down. Eric likes to do a deep clean, so we have all been washing the walls, and woodwork. We have quite a large kitchen with sooo many oak cabinets ..... it's been taking awhile!
Today I have 2 batches of pear butter in the crock pot simmering, will need to can that.
I have applesauce and apple butter in the fridge I still need to can.
Today, I'm going to wash and package eggs, since I have to deliver 10 doz to the store we are a new vendor for tomorrow! ( SO EXCITING!!)

Does anyone else here keep getting survey forms from the Census office? I get one just about every year. Last year was a AG census. This year it's "random" census. They ask stupid questions like how many sinks I have in the house with faucets. What is our income, and the source of our income. So far I've ignored it. The keep sending reminders with threats. They say they're going to send someone out if I don't respond.
My co-worker from over by pine Hurst towards riggins kept getting them with threats of jail n fines if he didnt fill it out.
I thought it sounded like a scam to get his or his wife's critical info.i kept telling him to report it to the sheriff office in case other folks were being harassed.
A few weeks ago he told me over the weekend a older lady came out to his place inquiring about why he hasn't filled it out. She offered him another one and because she was a nice old lady..he did.
Gah...🤯

After my walk yesterday, I put on a canning chicken class for the group community meeting after we shared updates on info.
So myself and another member have been inquiring with the county officials to try to get information on what our county emergency action plan. Supposedly, we have a person who is in that role already. Neither of us has had success getting in communication with.
After some digging, we found out our county plan has not been reviewed, updated or anything since 2012.
This county is woefully unprepared should a event other than a wildfire impact this area. And the person in that role has not really done much with the exception of getting a yearly grant to reduce fire fuels n a few cords of firewood for senior people in the area.
So..me and another have been working to investigate who we can contact n offer help to get the ball rolling .
We both had success in finding who we need to talk to. We found out the county plan is going to be updated n rewritten. He will be going to a commission meeting soon and i talked to a different gal who is rewriting the plan and was invited to a brainstorming roundtable this winter that will involve people from the counties adjacent to ours from all sorts of backgrounds in emergency management, military n LE, various skills like grant writing, public works , county officials n whatnot.
Pretty exciting!
Today,
I'm going to take the doggies for a nice walk. I'm going to hit the area that people practice shoot at alot n pick up some more brass. I gotta make some lunch for the work week n relax for a few hours too.
I have a bunch of outside stuff to do still..but..I need to relax for a few hours before the work week.

I got several notices from the census office last year. I tossed the in the trash.
I finally filled it out with just enough basic information like how many people live in the house.
Most of the other question went unanswered.

We have the travel trailer all ready to go and we're headed to Deception Pass State Park for 5 days.
Camping and fishing and doing very little else.

Put all the animals out and cleaned the barn, it started raining a little so the goats went back in ( door is open, they can go out if they want)

Did a lot of food processing : blanched and froze collards and kale, leeks and started to make sauerkraut and kimchi from the 2 huge cabbages I got at the market yesterday
kimchi alwasy turns out great, but sauerkraut not so much, maybe too warm in the house in summer so this time it is not warm when I am making it . it's just cabbage and salt basically

Going to take dogs for a walk later

I think this mushroom is a Porcini, otherwise known as a bolet, or penny bun..does anyone know mushrooms n can tell? It has the sponge like under instead of gills..

Last censes we had there was a woman that came out to tell us the censes was coming, I told her that she was taking a risk coming here due to all the cougar we've been having around, thing is I didn't catch her in time to stop her from GPSing our place. Next time anyone comes out here I'm telling them that they should read the signs at our gate, one says No
Trespassing the other says If you can read this you are in range.

I'd like to see some loser census taker find our place. GPS will take them to about 3 miles from our mail box. Our driveway is 2 miles long and we have 3 locked gates on it. Plus it's well posted. If they're able to find a local census taker to come out, they might know where our place is. But I doubt if anyone is going to walk this far.

Hubby said looks like a bolet 😁

Had our cidering today. Nice turnout, beautiful weather and lots of smiles and chatting. Fun times. Sent onions and tomatoes home with a few so now I will pull all the remaining tomatoes and pretty much have the garden put to bed with the exception of peppers.

We had someone hang a census note on our front gate a few times (back before it got knocked down by the hurricane). We'd already filled out the one we got in the mail. One thing I do like about census records from the past is seeing info about ancestors, but my family line ends here. My siblings and I are not having kids so there will be no descendants to look it up.

@Supervisor42 I completely agree about the voting. I am so frustrated with my brother and some of my friends who won't bother to vote. I have friends who won't even register. One friend thinks it is pointless & that no option will actually do anything for the people and that there are no good choices so we're screwed either way. My brother felt like his vote wouldn't count and didn't care enough to try to vote. He said this country sucks too much to bother and he wants to move to Japan as soon as he can. He certainly does gripe about it though. It's like the house-- he gripes about how messy it is but takes zero action to help clean. Sounds like something for the rant thread. LOL. At least Mom and I voted.

Mom's been sick & couldn't keep anything down Friday. Saturday I got her to keep down some chicken broth. Around midnight she wanted toast and an egg. Toaster is broken so I used the air fryer. Turned out ok. Today I went to Samsclub to get water & cat food. They were out of rotisserie chicken. Stopped at walmart for the chicken, soup, & salads. Stopped at TSC for cow feed.

Fed the cows, gave mom a little chicken (she'll likely be hungry for soup or maybe more eggs and toast later), etc.

Was really restless last night so decided to put up the robe hook in my bathroom. Screws sucked & stripped out. Ended up using decking screws instead. Scraped the walls trying to get the stripped screws out so I'll have to figure out a way to cover that. Robe hook looks nice and works though. I'll have to take pictures later.

Think I'm going to take a nap soon.

We met up with DW's aunt and niece at the casino and every one of us walked away $100 or more ahead  ...
Except for me .... well, unless you add in all of the free booze I sucked up🤪.
DW never wins, and was chasing each one of us down to show us her $104 ticket🙂.

After some thought, I've decided not to register to vote when I get moved to the new house. I was very upset to find out that our secretary of state office sells the voting records. So my full name, address, and party affiliation is out on the internet. I'm so tired of the whole thing, the constant loss of privacy, the sickening intrusion into my life of everything from a pretend census to insurance salesmen to Edison and Consumers plaguing me about wanting to do a "free energy audit" wherein they'll give me some foam to cover my pipes and a "free smart thermostat" which is simply a way for them to control my energy usage. I'm fed up, exhausted, and disgusted. I saw my vote consigned to the trash bin the the Detroit fiasco, and have no faith in the system and I no longer care. We as a nation have turned our back on God, with the slaughter of innocent babies and the cultural celebration of evil and perversion, and He has left us to our own devices. Things are only going to get worse.
Got the carpet torn out of the bathrooms at the new house, and yep, have to replace the flooring. Why oh why would someone carpet bathrooms and kitchens??? What a mess. I had some tile left from when I tiled around my fireplace, and thought I'd just get more of it and use the old and new stock for the bathroom floor. Good grief, sticker shock! I think I spent around 30 bucks on that box of tile when I did the fireplace, now the same stuff is over ten dollars a square foot! So, going tile shopping tomorrow to find something acceptable that won't break the bank.

We rented a place when we were young that was ALL carpet!!😮 I love carpet, but way too messy in the kitchen and bath!! Good luck on your tile hunt! No one should feel like they can't register to vote, such a sad time for our country!!
