Well, here we are at the Retreat, getting settled in, and putting in the "periguard laser system." The system has 1,000 ft legs, and the main unit can send the alarm to a box up to 300 ft away. So the "far leg" is actually almost a quarter mile from the house. It's a zoned system, tells you which leg has been intruded on, but does not give you the distance to the target....at least you know which direction to look! Everything here up and running just fine, no glitches (at least not yet). Will be starting on the excavations for the greenhouses in a couple days...going to bury them 4" down. Two greenhouses, two solar units, two generator backups, and God knows how many water/chemical tanks and miles of pipes, four pumps. Gonna be some big holes in the ground!

Yeah like gumpy said, sounds like a lot of work so rest when you can,you don't want to over do it.

The "work" has just started....the periguard system is the easy part. Now we have to excavate BIG holes in the ground for the greenhouses. Gonna bury them 4' in the ground. After that, there are two new sheds to build....running out of shed room now that we have the critters (goats, pigs, chickens, rabbits) out here...going to have a lot of critter food to store, and their two food sheds are already full...need more space! Place is gonna look like a damn industrial warehouse complex before we're through!!
Somewhere along the line, have to put up a pole building to use as a hanger for the OH-6 we're getting, too. Keep the snow and rain off it. I won't be worrying about most of that as I'll be going back to Alabama with Pess and the Evil One in another week and a half, but my son, his buddy and Pess's brother are staying on to get there to get the rest done before winter sets in. This will be the first winter the Retreat will be occupied all the way through as my boy and his friend will be here permanently.
