Very amazed at how Bear handled so much new stuff in one day and how good he is!! So many new sights and smells, and coming in a house for the first time!! He learned "heel" (fairly well), and sits when we stop walking. "Come" and "down" are going well. And he listens to "NO" very well! He goes pee on command and had no accidents in the house! So day two here we come! I took the day off!!!

Taking the day off and spending time with him was a great idea. You can reinforce everything he learned yesterday, and make it habit. Especially the part about no accidents in the house. He is a great looking pup. Congratulations.

He is being so easy to train. He retains his vocabulary of commands. He's like a little kid when he's tired though, all go and no attention span!

We are supposed to get a new pup in a few weeks. Wasn't exactly in the plans, but kinda dropped in our laps. My sons coworker's dog just had a litter of 10 pups and we were offered. Now I'm wondering if I'm up to this training a baby from scratch.

Something I did with the JRT was to use hand signals as well as voice commands and that kinda worked, but I think he was the wrong breed to expect compliance. They are just too dang independent. 😂

This one has me wore out!! Wasn't planning on him, he just happened! Keep us posted on your puppy Justme, can't wait!!

@JustMe talk to @MoBookworm1957 about her JRT. Strawberry kept her busy.
@Pearl glad to hear pup is settling in. :doghouse:
Strawberry was a Beagle/ Jack Russell.
Never had trouble with moles, voles or snakes when she was around.
She now lives with my oldest son.
She was attacked viciously when she lived with me.

And that was a bummer to read about. It is good that she is happy with your son but those that tormented her a problem yet to be recognized. The Uvalde character tortured animals.

The owner of the dogs that attacked Strawberry, was heavily fine.
He's awaiting trial.
His dogs taken away and destroyed.
His children taken away and placed protective custody.
He used dogs like Strawberry as bait dogs.
She stood her ground protecting me and Estelle.
I got Estelle in the house, called 911, said shot fired.
And went back outside to get Strawberry.
I shot one, killed it.
The other two did a lot of damage to Strawberry and some to me.
But Estelle was protected from harms way.
Those same dogs injured his children.
I'm without my Service Dog because of an idiot.
But Estelle and Strawberry are alive.
And they have each other at her Dad's house.
She officially retired as a Service Dog.
And yes, I am still angry about it.

.

Jacks are fearless that's for sure and their hunting drive is phenomenal, to the point of obsessive

Sorry about your dogs. I would still be angry about it as well. People like that shouldn't be allowed to own animals

Indeed. How could you not be?
It burns me to know that happened to all of you.
I am thankful that Strawberry is alive.
She has almost completely recovered.
She has a bit of problem with a hip, but her Vet says that should heal too.
Strawberry and Estelle are safe,
And that is very important to me.
As for me I too will heal eventually.
I'm one tough "Ole Army Broad".
