I'm curious as to which folks think that President Pence (if Trump were impeached) would be MORE liberal aligned than Trump.....

These idiots should really be careful what they wish for. Wanting to impeach Trump, is the equivalent of wanting gay marriage to be illegal, abortion to be illegal, and less separation of church and state. How is ANY of that desirable to a liberal voter? Answer, it isn't. But they are too busy thinking with their emotions, to exercise logic, and see what they are going to get if Trump was impeached. Absolute idiots that want to shoot themselves in the foot.
I for one do not think pence would be better, in some ways he is more dangerous because he is smarter. One step at a time.

Nope. I just disagree with both of them. And I don’t hate all Republicans. Sorry you hate Democrats so much. There is good on both sides. There is also bad. I feel we have to pick carefully.

.................

Both sides, Republicans and Democrats have good and bad. There are extremist on both sides. Look at the individual, not his party affiliation. If you get down to it, I’d feel safe saying 75% of all politicians are greedy scum sucking parasites. I’m probably being too optimistic on that evaluation....

Sorry Brent, but your numbers just don't add up. 100% of Democrat politicians are "scum sucking parasites", while only about 25% of Republican politicians are "scum sucking parasites". Many Republican politicians are also spinless cowardly wimps.

Progressive democrat, there is a difference. The good democrats are the libertarian democrats which most people confuse with liberals. Most liberals are really, at the very least progressives, or socialist, communists, fascists.

You are living in a fantasy world. A) Trump will not be impeached. B) Neither will Pence after him, even if A happened.

Do you really have no idea how damaging a Pence presidency would be to a liberal agenda? This is why I say be careful what you wish for.

Look, I'm not a Dem or a Republican. But I am conservative (when it comes to government), and fairly liberal (when it comes to social issues). The latter is where Pence as POTUS is extremely dangerous. His picks for SCOTUS (and if Trump was impeached, it's likely he'd get at least TWO such picks), would be anti-abortion, anti-gay, and pro-religion, etc. I shudder to think what his Executive Orders would be.

You guys really have NO idea what you are playing with, when you casually toss around the idea of impeaching Trump. You think you balled when Hillary lost? You've got no idea.....

Unfortunately, that is his job.

NOW it is.

Thing is, what we were doing, was not working.
Sometimes, you gotta rock the boat, especially when year after year, it's taking on water.

Sometimes, you get wet, and a sunk boat, but at least you tried something new.

Here's the really scary part. I did a screenshot but can't find it. So many on the Left think that if they impeach Trump that the election will be null and void and Hillary will be President.

These people have zero idea of how the system works. Hillary will never be President and they don't get it.

I agree with you GG. But we only have ourselves to blame for allowing this to happen. The majority of Conservatives have become cowards and rolled over and let the Leftest liberals define morality, or lack of, for the rest of us. I've even heard so called Conservatives say that they keep their opinions to themselves so they don't "offend" anyone. I'll say it out loud; these are not Conservatives, they are spineless chickenshit wimps.
The hate filled Leftist liberals always resort to name calling whenever a Conservative speaks out. And it's been very effective over the last 40+ years. Name calling is the only argument they have. They cannot have a debate based on facts. Are some people "bigots, racists, homophobic". Sure, so what? But it's almost exclusively on the Left.

Almost Always on the left? Always resort to name calling?

No. Or do all the republicans that have been caught with their pants down or otherwise not count? Yes, there have been some on both sides. But there have been plenty republicans.

Absolutely. And I stand by every word.
Read my post again. I never mentioned Republican once. And for your FYI, there's a huge difference between Republican and Conservative. One does not necessarily make the other.
BTW, there are many Republican's that are extremely Left.

What happened is that when Obama was elected, anyone that differed with him was automatically banned a racist. Even though the disagreement had nothing to do with race. With Hillary, if you disagree, you are a sexist. Conservatives were afraid. Especially of being called a racist.

I am a Constitutional Conservative which is far from most Republicans. That s why I liked Cruz. The man knows the Constitution backwards and forwards. Since he was very young. That s what I want in a SCOTUS. Someone to uphold the constitution

Doreena, the Noble Lie of liberalism is shattering because it continues to be believed and defended by those who benefit from it, while it is increasingly seen as a lie, and not an especially noble one, by the new servant class that liberalism has produced…But liberalism’s apologists regard pervasive discontent, political dysfunction, economic inequality, civic disconnection, and populist rejection as accidental problems disconnected from systemic causes, because their self-deception is generated by enormous reservoirs of self-interest in the maintenance of the present system.

Often, when it is pointed out that it is in the self-interest of commentator X to take view Y, someone will respond, “No, I am sure that X really believes Y!” But that response misses the point: when it is in our self-interest to believe Y, very often we will not merely feign belief in Y but talk ourselves into actually believing Y. What’s more, often we will convince ourselves that we believe it for the most admirable reasons. This self-deception is crucial to the maintenance of our self-image as good, modern “free thinkers,” while this “free thinking” has led us to precisely those views that most help us get ahead in life.

Political parties are just a vehicle. Its unfortunate that we currently only have 2 vehicles that work enough to get the job done.

Why continue to support a political party thats so full of socialist and communists unless you are one of them? I dont think you are one of them. There is something else at play. Perhaps you have been effected by the mass distortion and propaganda of the main stream media, public education and hollywood that preys on peoples emotions? Your emotions can keep your logic and reasoning from working and not allow you to see though deceptions and blind you from alterior motives.

First, thank you for a thought-provoking post. I really do enjoy reading things that make me re-examine my beliefs. Sometimes I change, sometimes not. I guess that is why I come here and other places that seem to contain people with differing views. And finding my true belief comes with this self examination. I have had a few eye openings in forums and Facebook, even, that changed my perceptions. One was a dialog with a black mother about her support of segregation, others were on white privilege, and more, sadly on the state of racism and prejudice. Those are way off this topic, so I won’t detail them. Sometimes even hate is educational.
Now to discuss what you shared, I do appreciate what you are saying. I am not a party follower, but an issue follower. In the past my core ethics have been more in line with Democrats, but not because the were democrats. Am I influenced by the media? Undoubtedly yes, but I try to vet my sources, as you know we cannot vet the news itself first hand in most cases. I look for sources who have had a history of self regulating (firing or discipling those who get facts wrong or who are unethical). I also look for sources that include both sides of an issue... without obvious bias and with respect. I have seen a graphic that placed the “leaning” of several well known sources ... ranking them from the liberal to conservative. I agreed with their assessment overall, but I do not blindly follow it. Thus, I do have a fair amount of confidence in my assessment of what is going on, as much as can be. I am motivated by wanting what is right, in my opinion, for people. I don’t believe in laws that mix religion and politics. I don’t think that any one group has it so right that we can ignore all other views. And I think that in the case of our health care system, it is so broken it needs to be fixed. And that a universal healthcare system will be cheaper and more humanitarian than what we have now, but that is not an easy project and I don’t have a magic wand. And certainly not all the answers! And along that line, I do not trust commercial interests to self regulate. They mostly put their own interests first before human needs (environmental issues, for example) I don’t think that propping up failing or outdated ventures is the way to go, although the loss of jobs has to be addressed... hope this makes some sense, but you had me thinking on this last night when I really should have been sleeping! And maybe you can understand what I am about a bit better, if you care to.

This is true. Some of it stems from an incorrect assumption about Article 2, section 4. They think that impeaching the POTUS automatically filters down to the entire administration. No, you would still have to impeach them ONE BY ONE.... Not to mention, CONGRESS does the impeachment, and someone remind me, WHO controls Congress again? Yeah, I thought so.... Dumbasses. It should make me mad, but really, it just makes me weep at the prospect of these idiots eventually being the overwhelming minority. We are headed straight for Brawndo guzzling Idiocracy.

I have to second DrHenley, by the way.....bravo for at least looking at what other sides have to say on these issues. If only it wasn't such a rarity.

I know which one you are talking about, even the revised one has some glaring issues with a few, but overall, it isn't too bad. Bloomberg needs to be moved further to the right, while the New York Post, Times, and Washington Post needs to go way more to the left, on the graphic though. As does CNN, Time, and the major broadcast networks. But it isn't horribly off except for these.

As far as Universal Healthcare, we need free market competition.

Perfect example is in lasik surgery. When it started it was expensive. Thousands of dollars. Insurance didn't cover so the companies had to compete for customers. The price now is around $200. Get some competition going and get the gov't out of the picture.

I would be concerned about self regulation, especially for non-elective stuff. They pretty much can charge whatever if you are having a heart attack or are bleeding out. Then the free market kinda gets thrown out the window, like a monopoly....

You also have to be concerned with government regulations becoming political.
Sensible, evidence-based regulations that respect the fundamental role of free-market competition can provide vital public benefits – such as protecting the environment, public health and safety, civil rights, consumers, and investors. Yet, despite the best intentions, government regulation too often disrupts the marketplace or picks winners and losers among companies or technologies. When regulators behave this way, they invariably cause unintended harms. Poorly designed regulations may cause more harm than good; stifle innovation, growth, and job creation; waste limited resources; undermine sustainable development; inadvertently harm the people they are supposed to protect; and erode the public’s confidence in our government.
