The Winnipeg Police Constable Rob Carver announced in a press conference Saturday that the hit-and-run suspect was arrested and the four victims currently being treated had suffered non-life threatening injuries.
“What I can tell you here is that comments were made by the accused that tends to suggest that this was not specifically about the [COVID] mandates,” Carver said when asked about a possible motivation.
“Whether or not we can sort of rely on those comments is another question,” he added.
Though he said he was unsure of the vehicle’s precise speed, Carver noted “it was moving at a fairly decent clip, and it’s pretty miraculous no one sustained any serious injuries.”
The Manitoba Post reported the suspect was a “42 year old man” who was “arrested after a struggle” with police.
As Rebel News founder Ezra Levant noted, the horrific attack by the driver was most likely spurred by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau calling the Freedom Convoy violent racists.
“Trudeau called for Canadians to marginalize the unvaccinated,” Levant said. “He said they should not be tolerated. He said they were racist, misogynist, violent. Someone heard that, believed it, and was radicalized. And committed this act of terrorist violence.”
This comes as Freedom Convoy protests spread from Ottawa to Toronto, Victoria, and other cities in Canada, with no signs of slowing.
In fact, after GoFundMe revoked the Freedom Convoy’s $10 million on Friday, donations for the convoy surged to $1.1 million on alternative fundraising platform GiveSendGo in just 12 hours.
Trudeau, along with the media, have been trying to portray the Freedom Convoy as violent racists since the peaceful uprising began last week, so of course when a real act of violence happens AGAINST the protesters, they’re nowhere to be found.
And if push comes to shove, they’ll just blame the SUV for the violence instead like they did with the Waukesha parade massacre last December.

On Sunday as the Freedom Convoy organizers held a press conference to discuss their actions in Ottawa, Ottawa police announced that anyone who provides material support to the truckers may be subject to arrest.
"IMPORTANT" they stated. "Anyone attempting to bring material supports (gas, etc.) to the demonstrators could be subject to arrest. Enforcement is underway."
"That's fear," the organizers said in response.
"It goes back to the early discussion about Mayor Watson's collective punishment strategy of trying to punish the business owners and the convoy owners," an organizer said. "And that's one more... escalating, escalating, escalating."
They noted that this was one of the early strategies, to stop trucks coming in with fuel to refuel the trucks, so they brought it in carry-cans. "Now they're blocking that. So the reality is find another way around it."
"Also highly questionable as to whether that's legal or not, and that gets back to the issue of Charter rights versus some local municipal bylaw that says you're not allowed to pull a wagon down the street," a representative of the convoy said.
"And also remember that anytime Mayor Watson or other politicians like him talk about leadership, anybody who's been in a leadership role knows it's very difficult because your job is to listen and deescalate situations," co-organizer Benjamin Dichter said, noting that he wishes Watson well in retirement after his political career comes to an abrupt halt over this.
"I guess my legal comment," said the convoy's attorney, "would be the notion that the government can arrest a Canadian for providing food to another Canadian is perhaps the most unCanadian thing I've heard so far."
"If I may, from a law enforcement perspective," said another with the team who specializes in intelligence. "You don't have to follow orders. I hear that all the time. 'Oh, they're just following orders. They're just following orders.' You don't have to follow an order if you feel that it's unjust. So it's time for law enforcement to step up. Okay? The truckers have done more to stand up for me and my family than my own brothers and sisters in law enforcement. And this is what law enforcement should have done months ago in my opinion. They are supposed to be the protectors of the country."
"I've seen I've seen mothers get arrested in hockey rinks for watching your kids play sports. It's disgusting," said co-organizer Tom Quiggen. "That's the line. Where's the line get crossed, where you're no longer willing to suffer what the management is telling you to do?"
"There are children in the convoy," said another. "Truckers have brought their families, they brought children and for for some official to order that they should not provide food for children or gasoline to keep the trucks running so that the kids can stay warm inside the truck. I cannot actually believe my ears. You have to know who is there. People are think that there's a bunch of great big six foot four burly men in that are here. That's not that's not true. That's not right. And that's horrible."

I saw on Twitter that there is 90,000 truckers signing up for the DC run, but will say it is from a very unreliable source/ It would be very nice though. Going to contact my trucker friend tonight.

To those of you supporting this movement,
I am not trying to be contrary, but I feel like you are being gleefully disingenuous supporting and egging on these truckers who are gumming up the lives of normal citizens in Ottawa (and soon to be other locations.)
American conservatives HEAVILY criticized the 2011 Occupy Wall Street movement (OWS) protesting economic inequality and the influence of money in politics and the 2020 protests in the Capitol Hill neighborhood of Seattle, Washington by George Floyd protesters.
Do you seriously think the inconvenience of wearing a mask or getting a vaccine can even be compared to the injustices protested by the 2011 and 2020 movements?
I'm not from your country, but to hear your "best in the world" economic and job numbers, unless you have been personally financially devastated by the Covid-19 restrictions, it appears you are just stoking fires of discontent because you lost the last election. Maybe you're just an anarchist and you support chaos regardless who is in office, but from here it LOOKS like you're "crying over spilt milk." Why not contribute to the solutions instead espousing of "our way or we break everything?"
I expect mostly (or maybe all?) hostile, snarky responses, but maybe some of you will be honest and see the parallels and the hypocrisy. Don't we have enough chaos and pain created by this pandemic without intentionally adding to it?
