Good morning, everyone. I hope you are all having a great day. I love cooking and today seems like a good day for catfish stew. Do you all love making it? What is your recipe if you do? I use my mom and dad's recipe. Pretty simple. Catfish, tomatoes, onions. potatoes, salt, pepper and hot sauce cooked on low heat for a few hours.

I hope everyone has a great day.

Never had catfish stew. Eat a lot of catfish though, usually fried fillets. In fact just bought another big bag of frozen fillets, catfish freezes well.

I am looking for more stew recipes. Good, simple, so I can freeze single serve portions. Burnswick stew is my go to.

I cook a big batch and freeze it. Freezes well. I am going to be freezing some bison chili this week as well. Also freezes well. I use black beans in mine instead of kidney beans. It's hard to cook for one person. I always make freezer meals. There is just so much I can eat at one time so I freeze everything I can for easy meals later on. I hope you have a great day.

Sounds yummy, Faith.. Absolutely Love Catfish... 👍 Your recipe precipitated the following variant-ideas to mind:

- Cream of Potato soup as 'base'.. 🤔
- Add Lots of Green Onion or Leeks ....maybe even Okra (?)
- 'Chayote' (sort of a mexican 'squash') in addition to the 'taters.. Complimentary, not 'competitive' in a soup / stew..
- Moar Pepper! :)

I always cook in batches, it makes life easier in the long run... and I like leftovers too, lol. When I make food in batches, I only have to cook a few times per week, the rest of my meals are simply reheated... which makes them quick & easy! I throw gallon storage bags of food into the freezer when necessary, if I make a larger batch than usual. :D
