Eat a Squirrel

I just planted a peach and a nectarine tree this last summer and hope the squirrels would come my way, I can get them with a pellet gun and nobody would know.

Absolutely. Give it a try sometime. Meat after SHTF is the least of my worries. In addition to beaver and coon I've eaten bobcat and muskrat too. They're all good eating. I don't care for porcupine though. In the old days porcupine was considered starvation food for the trappers and miners.

Rabbit, squirrel and muskrat I’m fine with. Never ate raccoon. Won’t touch a nasty possum. We used to give them to a family that would eat them. Turtle soup is good too.

Never tried possum. We don't have any around here. I would like turtle some day.

I've never eaten a squirrell and was hoping I'd never have to...but I must say..they are looking more tasty by the day! Possum...A hard Noo!

Like with most game meats, the flavor is influenced by what they eat. Pine cones are probably the worst, and red oak acorns heavily influence the taste too. But "nutty" squirrel meat isn't necessarily bad depending on how you cook it.
