Like many, over the years I've had freezers live and die in the garage.. If I were ever in need of a garage freezer, if considering a new freezer I would look for the ...garage ready... feature..

I bought several freezer baskets to sort stuff so we could find what we wanted.
One for chicken, beef, vegies, etc.
That lasted about 2 Costco trips and now it's a mess just like before.
I give up on ever organizing it or the freezer section in the refrigerator.

Easy peasy.

You need more freezers. No more than 2 items per freezer and a divider down the middle. Only problem after that is finding which freezer you want.

Yeah we usually have gallon jugs in our freezers. We're thinking upright. It won't be opened frequently and I don't want to have to take everything out to reach stuff on the bottom, especially during the summer.

I'm sure it would be more expensive but an upright with inner doors for shelves would be great for saving cold air when going after an item when you know where it is in the freezer, these doors actually add another insulation to any exterior air intrusion from any main door gasket leaks.

so- @viking my upright has inner doors, which is great because cold air, as you know, 'falls'
@dademoss I would love a 'garage' freezer, sadly they don't seem to exist here.
@zoomzoom they would stack better - having checked the prices those type are actually dearer than the bags. I've used a few smaller ones before when trying to protect cake and I've found they crack.
I'm thinking one of the flatter, longer ones would be great for bread rolls though! I'm wondering if, if a strange way, there would be wasted space?
Someone back a few pages ago has an immaculate looking freezer with baskets I had missed. Going to have a look around Pinterest also.

Oh! and @ClemKadiddlehopper I'd love another freezer lol, but I'm trying to get my children to move out, not stay! Also, theres a Suzuki Bandit 650 in the way.....

This has been a helpful thread!! I'm living in my fifth wheel and I'm looking for a freezer for my shop building. It's insulated, but we get pretty hot here! I want to have a climate controlled kitchen built in my building, but that won't happen right away!

Our garage freezer was a commercial chest freezer left over from when my wife owned a restaurant. We had it in an open carport (no place inside to keep it), and temps get high here in summer.
When it finally died, I unloaded it in layers as they started to thaw. The bottom layer stayed frozen solid for over a week. I found some vacuum packed frozen venison in the bottom that I had forgotten about. Still good after an unknown number of years.
We decided to replace it with a smaller chest freezer and keep it inside.

I had a chest freezer die last spring. Found a replacement 125 miles away, a GE. It's still running fine.

However, it is still difficult to find large freezers in this area, 20cuft range. 8cuft or less seem plentiful.

I've been looking for a new large upright freezer & I don't think they are making them as big as they used to. I've got an older one that I bought used but I'm thinking that I could save money buying a new one that is more efficient. I haven't been able to fine one at any of the local stores.

Here, the local power company has 'large appliance' centers, not many stores and spread out. They carry all the major brands but only have small freezers in the stores. But, you can order any style or size freezer.

I see the same thing at the big box stores. Can order but might have to wait weeks before pickup or delivery.

I no longer see large freezers in stock.
