Some breeds don't go broody.

I used my bators more for fill in as opposed to taking over for the hens. Having Silkies I was almost guaranteed to have someone broody and willing to hatch.
 
I had California whites and while they lay LOTS of extra large/super extra large eggs, not one ever went broody. Crossed them with a Easter egger and the chicks are interesting colors. Some lay white eggs, some blue, some green and one lays brown egg.
 
I want Guineas when I movie out to the farm.
My brother has a few now.
