We have a dish we make with out a recipe and we do not know the real name. We call it “ that cornbread stuff”. lol.
See if you can follow along

Mix up some corn bread Batter
Set aside
In a skillet
Brown a lb of hamburger
Add to it
Taco seasoning
Diced onion or Lipton onion soup mix
Lil cayenne pepper

In a casserole dish
Little oil on the sides
Layer of batter
Hamburger stuff
Cheese
Cover with remaining batter
Bake 350.
This is good!!!

Anyone know the name?

Yep, it’s that cornbread stuff. My mom made something similar but she’s long gone.

I make something very similar but add green peppers, jalopenos , can of black beans and tomato sauce and call it " Mexican casserole "

My wife calls it Tamale pie too. Something she introduced me to.

We always called it Mexican Cornbread. Just another name for the same thing.

Our family has one of those unnamed dishes called sticky chicken. Grandmother made it. My kids kept saying wish i knew how she made it. Its equal parts mustard and sugar. Pour over chicken parts and bake. My kids acted disappointed because its so simple.
