I made a couple small batches of hot oil... Each about 1 cup of canola oil, one with a pinch of cayenne pepper the other with a pinch of dried pepper flakes.. Neither was very strong, more spicy than hot.. The pepper flake one was better..

My dad and a couple uncles were at some training base near Nashville during WW2..
They told they could catch the train from base to Nashville, see the show at the Ryman Theater, as long as they made the last train back to base.. There was also mention of the bars and BBQ joints down the hill in the same block near the theater..

When I got to go see the show at the Ryman Theater the bars all had a small jam session stage.. I played on several.. The BBQ was good also..

I discovered the main difference between his and mine is paprika and sage.
Next batch gets both!

I am interested to know if sage turns bitter over time.. I have had that happen with sage in other things..

No idea how paprika reacts to different uses...
Please keep us updated...
