Every time I let my dog out, the first thing he does is look left, look right and sniffs a bit to make sure there isn't anything outside that will eat him or stomp him to death before his body leaves the cabin. Every time!
It was early morning and I was prepping to paint my deck this afternoon. I needed to unscrew my boot scraper just outside the door. I get my dewalt screwdriver all set up in my artic entrance then open the door, bend down and as I am about to unscrew the scrapper I hear a grunt behind me. I look up and see a very large black bear scurry back into the woods. He was perhaps 15 yards +/- from me when I walked out. I was the one that almost got unscrewed.
Next time I will let the dog out first to make sure I'm safe. Never let your guard down.
