From the 150th anniversary of the battle of Gettysburg. The fellow standing there is Sailaway from PS. He stayed at our place a couple days and I went down to help him get set up for the reenactment.

Do you have contact with Sailaway? Have you invited him to the new place? He didn't seem to be very active more recently on PS.

If you are tunneling out where do you out all the snow?
You can put it in the bathtub and sinks and it will eventually melt. Also, you can heat up a pot of it to melt it down, and then it can easily go into one of the drains. In a serious situation, you could use it for other purposes.

We have always been told not to eat snow because of contamination, but I have no idea how true that is. We would really avoid yellow snow!

The one pic catches what, the sun? That is pretty cool, I've never seen one before.
No it's quite a bit to the right of the sun,the sun isn't even in the picture. It's just a bright colored spot about the same colors of a rainbow (red, white & green) and then a white line going to the right, the sun was way to the left of it.

You can see in the picture that there is light at the end of the tunnel. This means that it was windy and the snow drifted up against that side of the house. There is either no snow on the other side and the snow can be carted through the house and out the back, or in the case of Erie Pennsylvania or here in Canada where there was heavy snowfall all round, one simply goes up stairs and out the window and back down to dig from the outside in. Usually, if it is down to snow all around, you better shovel the roof off while you are up there, or the roof may become your new floor.

Been there before... This is our house during the Blizzard of '77. Located about 30 miles south of Buffalo NY.
The front door is directly below that 2nd story window.
What you can't see is that the driveway is in front of the house but about 8-10 feet lower than the front door. My mom forgot where she parked the car in the driveway. It was literally a month before we found it.

I whine and cry about the heat and humidity, the one thing I'm certain of is that I did not make a mistake leaving MI after seeing these snow pics.

Uncle Joe this is our Civil War Reinactment here in N.Florida. It is really something ,the women dress up in real pretty hoop krimlin skirts and dresses . One of them is a real flirt and a real Southern Belle can put up a fence good as a man.

I took these this morning of what I thought was a rainbow but someone else thinks is a Sun Dog,not sure which is right but probably them. It was around 10:30 AM and after it had snowed so I'm not sure.

N.Florida here we are expecting 'wintry mix ' of snow, rain sleet. Very unusual for us. In the 20s with wind chill in the teens next few days.

The house my grandparents had in Vermont had a door in the attic to give access to the roof. I used to think it looked funny until I saw pictures of the house hurried in the snow. Grandmother said that was the only way out at times.
