Some people are just stupid. A woman passing through town was stopped for a traffic violation and had no license. At the jail they confiscated her phone. County called the Feds, she had child porn on her phone. She just plead guilty to two counts of porn involving a minor and she took the pictures. Awaiting sentencing.
100 years is what I would give her.

The sheriff catches a lot of both local druggies and dealers, and drug mules/dealers just passing through, because of traffic violations. You'd think people carrying large quantities of contraband would be very careful not to draw attention, but most criminals aren't criminals because they're smart.

I 44 goes through about 60 miles south of here. It is supposed to be the drug pipeline from Mexico to Chicago.

If the police want to stop you they can always find probable cause.

True enough, but first you have to pique their interest for some reason. Even the dishonest ones who will lie about probable cause will very rarely just pick someone at random for no reason.

The last ticket I got, I was pulling out of a Sonic. He swore I had a turn signal out (I did not). He then watched me undo my seat belt to get out my license and then wrote me a ticket for no seat belt. I paid the $10 fine instead of fighting it. Found out from a friend who works in that area, the cop wrote 9 tickets right there in an hour. I was behind the same cop a few days later and watched him run a stop sign.

I didn't always know that when your interest was "piqued", it was spelled this way. I used to think it was peaked! Many people do not know that.
