If Biden does become the next President and the Senate flips all bets are off. As President Trump stated that the cure cannot be worse then the disease. All the Socialist see is "shutdown" and not much more. The restaurant industry is being disseminated in many areas of the country due to the Covid solution. Pelosi refuses to meet the Republicans half way to try and better our nation. In the meantime families are starting their downward spiral to financial impact. All one has to do is to read the history of the start of the 1930's depression to see America is following the same path. My Dad thankfully during this time period was gainfully employed first in a bakery and later for a dairy...people need to eat.
My wife and daughter are classified as "essential" workers and have been at their positions for some time. We had been building our cabin, paying as we go along to avoid any type of debt. Due to what we see as to what is to come we agreed to cash in the last of our stock and finish our home construction to further insulate us from the world. Not only will we use less energy we will now start to supply all of our electrical needs. We are greatly afraid that the "perfect storm" is just on the horizon with the onslaught of darkening clouds.

The storm is already here. I don't think any president could get us out of this financial mess. And in a few weeks, we may have two men that think they're president. That will get interesting.
I really hate the term "essential workers". As if a government can decide if you can work to feed your family or not.

Hubby and I have been brain storming on what we might expect and what to do about it.
Two more years and we'll be on a fixed income
I've read a couple of articles from people who've lived in socialist countries but I think I'll have to research even more to get a bigger grasp on it. And I may add in reading some things o the Depression

You know IF biden ( really harris) gets in the white house we'll go down amid a socialist takeover. I believe that. It may not happen right away but it will slowly happen. Think of the "boiling a frog" analogy.

There are deadlines the election. After that it goes to Congress to decide.

I have some stock investments and have really debated whether to cash them in or not. I have long thought that the stock market could crash and absolutely everyone will be affected by that. Retirement programs are based in the stock market. I don't know a better solution, but have long thought that the stock market is some sort of gimmick or game. My g grandfather was a millionaire until Black Friday, October 29, 1929, when the stock market crashed. Then he was flat broke, like everyone else who was heavily invested in the stock market.

Glad my home is paid for, but even that is not a 100% guarantee of not losing it.

Not so sure all those Trump voters will slow boil but who knows. I do think the libs won't have a problem losding us up though if our military stands up to the oath, especially the DOMESTIC part of it.They will not follow a liberal agenda of killing Americans.

Looks to me like we are at 210 degrees ....the boiling point is only a short time away.

Our little dictator has mandated all restaurants s have no dine in until Dec 17th...that's gonna help the families that will have a lousy Christmas. I have several friends now with no income.

So far almost all the restaurants are going to defy his stupidly and stay fully open , until he closes WM and DG.

I'll support them.

A lot of people are going to be saying, "Why stay out of debt?" Just buy anything and everything you ever wanted, on credit. Then you can cough and claim covid, declare bankruptcy and the Dems will bail you out by taxing those who didn't spend all their money. You end up with all your stuff, no debt, and you get to start over just like everyone else. The difference being, you made out like a bandit with your credit purchases that you never had to pay back. Someone else had to pay them back for you. If you didn't already get everything you wanted, well, there's always protest marches to whine your poor situation, followed by the obligatory looting. Only problem with looting is they don't do home deliveries, you gotta carry it all home yourself. But you can deal with that inconvenience if you have to.

The plan makes sense, in a really sick sort of way.

Yeah, you guys really did go from a great governor (imo) to a little dictator, didn't you? Dang.

Yes we did...just because our previous governor wanted to keep the board of education in check , spending outta control.

Pissed off all the teachers , they voted this idiot in .

I'm betting they're sorry now.

He's really hurting KY.

In a wrong sorta way.

One of the founding fathers said that we had to be a moral society to make the constitution work.

Is the U S moral?

I do not think the senate will flip, as such, I do not think anything dramatic will happen politically for two years, so I think we have that long before the next boiling point erupts, politically. Lots of natural events that could bring it down sooner.

You are right to mention the 1930s. I primarily prep for a 1930s perfect storm of combined environmental and economic disaster, with added modern badness thrown in.

My wife and I are also Essentials, and I too plan to finish my house in the next two years to try and take advantage of what should be a relatively stable period.

If we could ever get an handle on Corona. Building materials prices are apocalyptic right now so I'm not building anything new until those come down. It may be a better time to work on vehicles than new buildings.

It is going to go exactly like they want it to and we don't have one word of say so in it. I'm begining to realize that. We don't rule we serve. Yp begin with we serve too many gods, all are welcome no matter how evil or vile including satamism ,think about that.

Same BS here in NY. Union members voting party line instead of what is best for the students of this country. I am not going on and on as I really don't care at this point as they are voting the socialists in and in the end their retirements and all the perks they have been given at the expense of taxpayers will vanish. I will sit back and chuckle when that happens. We pay far too much in tax here for mismanaged and poorly run schools. Many of them are pushing their union and anti taxpayer agendas here. Remote learning? What are they learning? This group is only worried about their own funds and benefits. They could give a rats backside about our future generations. If these people can't or won't teach then they need to be removed from the school systems and the taxpayers free funding.

A word to the wise. I have been a union president. One that went all out for the lowest of the lowest paid groups; DSP's. Direct Support Professionals... A group of workers making little above minimum wage yet expected to care for those that are physically and / or developmentally disabled. Those tasked with 24 / 7 support of those that families and society cannot or will not provide care for.

While we as dsp made at or near minimum the teachers made many thousands annually more and have full benefits, retirement, and a multitude of other benefits. The spending is out of control for sure. Our affiliates were NYSUT, AFT, and a few others. I will fight this fight as I have for those we have and do support. This is where we in America are now.

I am passionate on this subject. @phideaux , I am happy you brought this up yet I am saddened by where we currently stand. I don't want to rant but damn. Socialists really want to destroy American and that makes me beyond angry. Those supporting the socialist / communists need to be dealt with as traitors. If they do not like America then they can pack up their "stuff" and gtfo. Just my opinion of course.

Maybe I'm wrong and I'm sure to most I am but I am changing my mind about things.Maybe its temporary?:dunno:
There is nothing coming socilaism been here since welfare and so called " charity ".No Republic has ever lasted because the system is designed to fail from the beginning. We can't be all things to all people and survive.
What nations survive thatare forced to bring in those who disagree religiously, culturally and politically?
So far all we have done for past 150years is argue and play musical chairs with politicians.
Now the only nations on earth that aren't forced to take in the worlds poor are Meddle Eastern. Hungary and Poland are fighting to survive but being force to take in others they can't support too.
People don't ' assimilate or change that drastically.
America isn't a melting pot its a damn fruit cake.

To get BACK ON TOPIC, do socialist countries put up with "protesting" and "looting"?
I would think not but I don't know. I imagine they would come down hard on that sort of thing
It makes common sense to stay out of debt and to live within your means.
Thats why we're trying to figure how to go about "softening" any hard effects of biden ( actually harris) getting in the white house before we don't have the extra means to do so

@ least half of the people oppose National Socialism that is a given. What is going to happen is anyone's guess that is a given. I only have control on what I can reach out and touch or influence so why concern one's self? If RADAR show's a storm is approaching we do the best to get ready for it. Our area periodically gets hit with heavy snow and horrific low temperature so we have designed our cabin to deal with both.
Stocks and money is just paper that is reality. It is only good for what someone else gives it in trade. We are trading our stock for paper money and then for material to complete our home. Holding onto paper is holding onto hope of trading at some future date. My bride and I have held on for some close to 40 years, now is the time to let go. The only thing that really doesn't go down is our age!
When I had cancer I got the opinion of many "experts", many I rejected. Dad told me over 60 years ago to hope for the best and prepare for the worst. George Washington advised the nation that in times of peace prepare for war.

Spoken for truth Sir!

Glad my home is paid for, but even that is not a 100% guarantee of not losing it.

Just for some perspective. If we crash hard (the likes we have never seen before) banks aren't going to be repossessing things, the only way we lose on this front is if we don't fight others that would take it.

Don't mean to be a Debbie Downer............just thinking out loud, lol.

I have a tough time believing that our military would turn on the people, maybe I am naive, I dunno, some would take the governments side I suppose. If anything cracks off I would expect lots of blue helmets.

I do not think the senate will flip

I sure hope not, I am counting on the good people of Georgia to make the right choice in January.

Our history continously proves otherwise. Most surprisingly th Bonos Army event when all the generals who fought along side in WW1cthe vets they attacked ,Patton,Eisenhower, MacArthur, etc,.and lets not forget Civil wars.Military follows orders ,period.
Socialism has been creeping into our nation for a long time. Its nothing new. America didn't just all of a sudden become 40 to 60% liberal.:dunno:
