This was the new house we bought 3 months after we got married 42 years ago. Nothing down, 8% interest. We lived in it for 28 years and raised our two boys. I built the garage and the little entry.

Looks like it may be in interior alaska. The color will help it absorb what little heat it can grab from the sun.
We are not in Alazka here and lots of houses being painted charcoal or black. It's a trend.
Because it's easy to cover the previous paint job with one coat?
So is white.
I think it's a reflection of our society. The 50s are known as Happy Days. Look at the bright cheerful colors of the period. Houses were pink and green and yellow etc. Today's "black until something darker is invented" says something about our mood. If it keeps going, our town will just look like the chars of Hell (IMO).
PS I'm not a fan of pink houses but just saying cheerier than black.
