I did a load of laundry this morning and noticed the dryer wasn't working as well as usual. So after work I disconnected the vent line and cleaned out from the dryer to outside the house, there was a lent ball at the exit to the house that was blocking flow.

Got the wife new towels on saturday, washed and dryed them twice, cleaned the lint screen each time, but I think some got past.... Well it's all right now..

UrbanHunter, lint clogs suck. I'm looking forward to remodeling so my dryer will have a straight vent path instead of going off to the side. Right now the duct is destroyed & it just blows lint all over behind the dryer. It had turned at a 90° sideways to go out the wall before possoms got in and broke the vent while being chased by the dogs. I can't get back there to fix it. But, I bought a new type of duct connection for when we remodel-- MagVent180. Instead of using a clamp to hold the vent on to the port on the wall, it has magnets. It has 3" wiggle room for error. You use the clamp to attach the duct to the dryer, put one of the magnetic halves on the wall over the opening duct, and then slide the dryer back-- magnet pulls it in place to connect the duct.

Thanks, Snappy. It was really bugging me. I don't get ones as large as my father had & they all seem to pass eventually on their own, but they suck. At least they've never been as bad as they were for other people who had to go to the hospital and get narcotics for it.

I'm still feeling tired. Got a little cleaning done & played on a computer game but my brain doesn't want to focus. I really need to get something more productive done. Need to clean up the hallway & laundry room to make it easier to do laundry. I'm thinking tomorrow or Friday I can see if my brother will help me. He was sick today.

Hey, hip hip hooray...
Wife felt up to taking a ride, so, she wanted to go to Sonic for a burger , cause she don't have to get out of car.
Think she just wanted to get out of house.
She is improving everyday, just got to get some strength back.

Daughter called , all of our schools will close after tomorrow , have internet school until Jan 3rd 2021.

Covid showed up at school.
5 grands will be home.

What a mess .

We will be avoiding any place with public .

With my heart and wife's immune system , covid would be a death sentence.

Y'all stay safe.

That has to be a huge relief to see her improving. Now if you both take it easy and keep well, we're all good 💕

What I found to be so telling: school boards were having virtual meetings, but wanting children back in the classroom. Denver Public Schools has had many teachers quit, or retire early. They have a shortage of substitute teachers.

There is a discussion group for the history of my home county and someone was talking about a woman whose first year of teaching was 1918. Then schools were closed for a complete year, due to the Spanish flu, and she had a year off.

Yes it is.
We have been dealing with our serious health issues since May of this year.
And , yes we are really taking it easy. I have to be very aware ,and careful of my heart problems , because I have to care for her, and she is still in recovery.

But we are getting very close to that light at the end of the tunnel.

New lease on life....as they say.

While I am very New to this forum I appreciate what you have done and pray that God smiles on you and yours.

New Mexico gov putting the state on "shelter in place" lockdown starting Monday thru Nov 30th. Our son and daughter are not real pleased. Glad I am not there, but sorry they are.
Our contractor, my cousin Dan, came by and spray painted our add on bedroom and bathroom on the ground. Next is the guy coming to dig the basement.

Stores are limited to 25% or 75 people, whichever is smaller. That's Wal-Mart, Sams, Albertsons.... I'm down at our old place for the kids Dr's apts and the lines at Wal-Mart and the local grocery store are crazy. People are happy to only wait 45 minutes to get in. The local meat market was down to 5 people allowed inside.

This morning I got up, checked my schedule, put in a load of laundry, went to Home Depot and got some stuff for my next experiment, came back, had breakfast, and took a couple of pictures of my growing station to share with a friend in TN.
Here you can see 1 small tub with lettuce with Herbs growing in #10 cans behind. The small container in the front has new lettuce that will be transplanted into tubs in about 3 weeks. The greenry in the back are some 4 1/2 foot tall pepper plants.

Here are 3 of the little tubs growing lettuce, each shelf in the growing station can hold 12 tubs. The foil around the outside of the tubs is just to keep the light out to slow down alge growth.

Well it's 07:00, time to start the day. ;)

It's good to see how you've got it set up, Urban. I'd like to see how Weedy has her indoor garden set up too. I can't ever find the light bulbs or tubes that I want for such a set-up.
Amish, that's great you're getting a basement. My in-laws did that with their place in Montana, added a basement. I had something to put away the other day and almost said, hey could you put this in the basement? Alarming, I haven't had a basement now for 12 years. Ha.
Terri, that's awful. I try to stay away from the stores if I can. Things have been quiet except for the dog howling at emergency vehicles, a lot of that this week.
Ben...seems like he's always been here.
Jim, you and Mrs have a great day!
Everybody else too.

Oldest grandson was going to start kindergarten this term. Public school went to "E-learning" and the parents knew that wasn't going to work for their son. Solution? They enrolled him in their church's kindergarten! They walk him a block to the church, church staff confirms his temperature is normal, checks his name off their list and he is escorted by staff to his class. He know his numbers and A B Cs and is now learning how to read simple words.

Me. I'm updating the OS on the home computer and on my smart phone at the same time...what could go wrong?!?!

Nice set up urban. What type lights are you using?

Mine is still a work in progress. I just got my first light up yesterday. I have 3 relatively new shop lights in the garage, not installed. I've been looking for tubes with higher lumens to replace the ones in those, but haven't had much luck. I think I shared a video recently about Walmart having LED shop lights with higher lumens. I went to Walmart on Tuesday. I believe the price on the shelf for shop lights with 5000 lumens said something like $19, but when I checked out, they rang up at $12 each. I fully expected to pay that for just the replacement tubes. Since I thought they were more, and it is still an experiment, I only purchased two. My shelf unit has five shelves. I put the bottom shelf tall enough that I could put 5 gallon buckets under it. (Thinking food storage, or starter or potting soil in the buckets) I am thinking the top shelf will be for supplies, because putting a light above it will be more challenging, but not impossible.

Each shelf has 4-12"X12" Full Spectrum LEDs arrays running down the center and a 4' LED Tube (65000K) running along the outside (2 per shelf). About 300W of lighting per shelf. Each shelf has it's own powerstrip and timer so I can vary things up if I want. The growing station has 5 shelves, 3 have lighting and 2 are for storage for supplies. There is a walkway all the way around the growing station with the start of the food storage shelves on one side and the freezers on the other. The flat surface of the freezer turns out to be a great place to work on things before moving them to their place on a shelf. Wife says if my head wasn't so pointy, I would try to store something on it. ;)

Hey Patch, we already do have a basement, was put in when the house was built in 1908. A bit of a mess, but it's ok. Has electricity for a dehumidifier, has a sump pump and an exit door. This new one will only be accessible from our new bedroom that we're building on, and won't be linked to the other basement. No sump pump, no electrical. But it'll be about 500 sq feet. The basement didn't get dug today after all, it will be tomorrow. But lumber was dropped off today. Left the kids to do their schoolwork and went to the Amish restaurant with husband for brunch. Then into the bigger town to look at recumbent bikes. Husband wants one. He usually rides his scooter when I'm bike riding, but wants to up his game a bit. Will be picking up mom soon for her birthday. She wants to go to the thrift store in our little town, and I need to pick up some ice cream at the little Amish Menno store in our town, to go with her apple pie for dessert tonight. She wants take out pizza for her bday dinner, and apple pie and ice cream for dessert. Couldn't talk her into a nice restaurant. She has problems keeping her upper dentures in.

Jim, I'm so glad your wife is feeling better.
Urbanhunter, that little indoor garden looks cool!
I somehow forgot to take my meds yesterday. I'll have to go back to the store soon-- almost out of bottled water & am out of allergy medicine. I was sneezing my head off this morning.
Had trouble sleeping last night bc the raccoons kept coming in & the dogs were losing their minds. It was also cold so the cats were piling on me & I had trouble rolling over.
With all this Covid mess, I'm so glad I don't have kids. I feel for people who have kids & need to worry about keeping them safe.
I think we're still technically in "phase 3" but no one seems to be abiding by it anymore.
I'm trying to decide on what showerhead to use for the guest bathroom. There's a Delta 2-in-1 thing for about $50. I think it's 1.75 gpm or something. But for about $80 there's a Moen showerhead with a stationary head & handheld (that docks magnetically) & has 2.5gpm. I'm kind of leaning toward the latter bc it will have more spraying power, looks better, & has better reviews.
I did a little cleaning this morning & then took a nap. I'm about to take another nap before I have to get something for Mom to eat.

Maybe you would have better luck training the cats, dogs, and coons to just all get along 😅 At least maybe they would let you sleep :)

Tonight I started watching (actually continued watching, I only watch about 15 minutes at a time) The Martian, the part where his potatoes come up.... got me to thinking, why can't I grow some potatoes in 5 gallon buckets in the house? Now it will bug me until I do something... Anyone out there tried it that way?

I have been looking over my assortment of plastic planters that are half dry-rotted from being in the back yard for several seasons, replacements are between $10 and $25 each, those HD homer buckets are $3.50 and they stack better for storing. Just thinking out loud.

I set up a dozen small seed starter cups and started planting things that I want to grow over the winter.... It helped me identify several varieties of seeds that I am short on. I also started a log for my garden stuff... mostly because I can't trust my memory as to what is in each pot... I just put numbers on my plant labels and then have the number and what I planted listed in the log... Now all I have to remember is where I put the dang book...

In a thread about herbs, Woody talked about planting 50 different herbs, and not labeling them. Later, he wished he had labeled them. I had some plant labels and I have now started labeling everything that I plant, so that I would know what was what. I have tried to repurpose some things, such as plastic cartons, to make labels, but I really prefer the purchased plant labels.

Urban that sounds like a good set up. I never could get enough lights on mine but I was using grow lights and didn't hsve enough ,obviously.

Urban, I think you should have Mrs Urban go in before they sprout and move them all around. Then it doesn't matter what you think is where because it won't be. And as a special bonus, you will get to test your plant identification skills 😇 I use eggshells for seed cups: write on the shell. When it is time to transplant, just crunch the shell and put it all in the hole. In the garden, I use railroad spikes for markers. I paint "beans" "corn" etc on the top. Just be sure to pull them before you rototill.
