Thanks for the pic, I also wondered. I suspected they might be what we call a Dutch oven. I’d really like to get my hands on an old school cast Dutch oven with the little legs and the flat lid for piling coals on top of it like the one in the picture

Our Wal-Mart sells them in the camping isle.

Crocheting away on lap blankets for Crocheting Across American for Veterans.
Just about ready to finish my designated 4th one this week.
Went to pick up newspapers from dad.
We had coffee and visited for a while.
Boy, is it my imagination or is Fig Newton's cookies drier than normal.
Or it could be dad found them in freezer, but them babies were dry.
I think so far in cost for yarn, I have just spent under $10, for 4 laprobes.36x36" square.
Might have to cook tomorrow, maybe a pot of beans beings it's raining tonight.
Hey Meer, glad to see you.
Will post pictures in crocheting, knitting and embroidery forum when I finish this one.

DH started off the morning with stain removing some clothing, putting on the load of washing and hanging it on the clothesline to dry. I ran the grey water out to the garden beds and berry trees in the yard. DH put on a loaf of bread in the bread making machine.

Down the back we went to the shed where we had split the firewood and put it in wheelbarrows and stacked it in the lean-to shed. It is still slightly green so we will have to wait for it to cure before using it. Then after a bit of a break we set about connecting the water to the drip irrigation frames we had in the 10 garden beds and that is now done and we reused some of the pvc t-pieces and elbows from our last gardens as we had run short. We then tested it and it works well and much better with the 19mm pvc pipe from the tap reducing down to 13mm in the garden beds as it has far better water pressure and stops the friction over a longer distance.

We had rump steak and steamed peas, corn and capsicum for dinner.

I'm turning my internet off today. I feel a strong urge to save more money and continue to pay extra on our mortgage. So I will go to the library when I can and keep up with you guys. I have enjoyed the knowledge and hope everyone realizes their dream also. Ours is to get this place paid off in the next 2 years before hubby retires.

Gonna miss you being a regular on here Timmie. But wishing you guys every success is getting the home payed off. Thats a fantastic goal to get to.

they gave me a much better deal, so i can keep the internet. the money we saved will go on the farm also. i'm really glad they came up with such a good deal as football season is next month and hubby didn't really want to give that up.
haha. false alarm then. I was just thinking maybe i should try giving up the internet to save money. I wonder what would happen to the sanity factor in this home?
:mad: It'd be no good, I tell ya what.

@timmie glad to hear you got a better internet deal :) . Sometimes if you tell them that they are too expensive they will give you a deal just to keep your custom. I think it is tight for all businesses at the moment as people aren't spending money, well at least that is the case here in Australia.

Go team mortgage payers :woo hoo: as we are one of them here too. If we have any extra money or save money in any budget category we pay it off our mortgage as even a little extra helps.

@timmie Good deal! That tactic works with insurance as well ;-).
@Terri9630 Do you see me? I'm green! With envy- heehee. That is a lot of jars! You just might be my new super hero.
It was back to work for me today. Blasted hot but not as much so as in years past so for that I am thankful.
@MoBookworm1957 you should put an add on Craigslist in arts and crafts for yarn wanted. If you say what you are doing and the kind of yarn etc., I bet you'll have more than you can keep up with. You are an incredible gal! Oh and couldn't tell ya on fig Newtons. I've never liked them, but my mom could eat a whole package:)

A bit more of a relaxing day today and DH downloaded all the bank statements for the RSL and did more book work. I got paid today and transferred money into the bills account, savings, groceries and electricity account and paid an extra $175 payment off our home loan

I busted on my no spending day today as I found a bench to go in the kitchen to replace a large bench that we are removing to put in our new 90 cm oven we bought earlier this year. The stove with oven we currently have that came with the house cremates everything. I also found a stainless steel trolley to go in where we are taking the current oven out of and we can use it for a bit of firewood and storage too. We paid in cash using our debit card as we had money put aside for both of these purchases.

Tonight's dinner was chicken and chips and I had a couple of segments of apple and a tin of mango for dessert.

It was just a lucky day. There were 4 auctions going on in a small town and the people who usually bid up the jars were at a different auction.

I called my company and told them I would have to give up my service and I was directed to call and ask for "customer retention dept.". They can usually get your rate back down some.

Had everyone over for breakfast this morning, then when thrift shopping with the ladies. I found some baskets and an old wooden box that I'll be painting. It stands on short legs and is lined. Not sure what purpose it had, but I was intrigued. My cousin found a dining room table and chair set for her daughter, so it's good we have a truck. Had lunch, and husband is napping. Planning to go into town to get some steaks to grill. Tomorrow we have a nonstop day, getting the Ranger serviced, meeting with my mom's nurse, and a lot of family over for dinner.

Walls are done. Now wheelbarrowing the limestone backfill.

I just finished the first of three days as a volunteer with the Canadian Bug Reduction Program. CBRP builds roads wherever they want to reduce the bug population and volunteers drive around and smash them on their windshields and grills. I just filled the tank and removed todays quota from the windshield. I'm ready for a busy day tomorrow.

Today in the morning we relaxed until it got a little warmer.

We then went out the back and started leveling out the dirt that our friend put over the back fence with his tractor so it fills in some of the soil that was washed away from previous floods. We have pulled down about a third of the soil that is there which filled up sections to the right height for about 2 more metres. It is a veritable treasure island out there under and on top of the washed away soil. I found part of an old ceramic chamber pot and another whole old vintage medicine bottle.

After a bit of a break we folded up two loads of clean laundry and put it away and DH washed the dishes and cleaned the kitchen benches and I wiped the dishes and put them away.

A good day so far may stay that way if I don't click on any news or politics. Hubby said I'm out of control " AGAIN ".
I just parrot what I read and think I'm changing the world ,what a insane way to think.
Time for a trip .
Hope all have a great day.
