This morning, I paid the water bill while on my walk. Got a haircut and picked up some grapes and bananas. Also my one prescription. Swept the house, gave DH a pedicure, changed light bulbs in a couple of fixtures. Will go cut okra a bit later. It only got up to 83 degrees here today and was quite nice! Supposed to be 64 tonight.

Went mousing with son's dog, and he caught a dozen. Gave him a hotdog treat for that. Talked to our granddaughters foster care caseworker, and they have decided she can't go back to her mom ever. They requested our local agency to come for inspection (oh, yay), and they will be requesting that she go to us at the permanency hearing at the end of January. Meanwhile, she is possibly able to visit over the holidays when she is out of school. We'll see what our local offices pull. They don't like allowing guardianship here. They lose all their power if it's not foster care.

Sitting around the fire with Jake tonight eating and telling stories. This kids growing like a weed he is 11 now.

I just got off the phone with one of the neighbors. She wanted to know if I would be growing broccoli and chard next year. I told her no, I don't like them. She said "Well that's awfully selfish of you! What about your neighbors??" I asked her what she was growing for me and she hung up. This is the same woman that was upset a few years ago because I wouldn't give her free eggs after I gave some to another neighbor that had cancer. Can't wait to finish moving.

Spent part of the day at the doctor's.
Got Nerve Conduction test done.
Least this one didn't leave little burn marks on me.
Bruises around the sights.
Preliminary report: got carpal tunnel in left wrist and hand.(like I didn't know that already)
Also got pinched nerve in my neck (like I didn't know that either).
They seem to think brace will work for awhile on wrist and hand.
Neck pinched nerve more serious, see surgeon and neurologist next week.

Food and fire look great. Love that t-Shirt

Who was Ed Zeppeliy? :D I'm tired... silly time...

Lots of things got done the last few nights, since I couldn’t sleep might as well clean… I have all the fall deep cleaning of the house done but for 30 minutes left in the kitchen. I still have some reorganizing to do, fairly big job, but a winter time job when it’s too cold to go outside. I have all my old photos into two manageable and somewhat sorted groups and stored properly. Sorting all those pics is a sit by the fire winter job.

I still have to finish installing a new outlet in bedroom #1. I have everything I need. I need to finish the cutout in the paneling, install the box and run the wire, new breaker is already in its place.

I tackled the front porch late this afternoon. I got the dogs igloo house completely cleaned. I have old scrap towels I tossed in the igloo last winter during a cold spell soaking in a big tub on the porch. There was a big sleeping mat out there that went on the burn pile. I left word with my niece, next time her boy comes up to check on the cows he’s to bring the power washer. The porch is a concrete slab and the wall is brick… everything will get power washed within an inch of its life.

I got both trucks cleaned out, sprinkled with carpet fresh and vacuumed.

I got everything ready for the last push against the feral cats at the barn, 36 are gone, 7 or so left… they are the really sneaky and smart ones… I had to regroup and come up with a new bag of tricks. I found out the feral cats have been moving between not 3 but 4 houses. An elderly lady lives at the 4th house. I spoke with her daughter, the mom was spending most of her SS check on cat food each month… She started this whole mess a few years ago. The daughter took over buying groceries for her and imposed cat food restrictions. At least everyone is on the same page and finally understands the dangers feral cats represent with disease transmission.

Should be an easy day tomorrow...

Busy and a cooler day today thank goodness in the mid to late 20 oc.

Started off the morning with stain removing two loads of washing, one each, and hanging them on the line and just took it off the clothesline. I then set off the grey water pumped from the tank and watered the spider and canna lilies, potted fruit trees, another star jasmine and half of the canna lilies. I topped up the kangaroo water with some saved shower water and topped it up again tonight with some town water and rewatered the potted lemon tree that is apparently really thirsty. I put the vegetable steaming water on another potted fruit tree as well as rinsing water from the fruit bowl I used for lunch fruit.

DH did two more months of book work for the RSL club and picked lemons from our potted lemon tree that were ripe. I got an email from one of our large supermarkets with a 10 % off voucher tonight so I topped up on many staples we were trying to get to 12 months worth and now we are there saving in total $26.62 on usual prices. Our staples never come on special here unless they are the more expensive brands which when discounted are dearer than the generic brands  . I only usually get 5% off with our roadside assist grocery gift cards so didn't mind getting double the discount. I am still $60 under budget for the month.

Tonight was a help yourself dinner.

Tomorrow will be exciting as we are having our new 90 cm oven installed, a higher wattage fuse put in the power box, and the old one I nicknamed "cremate everything" taken outside as well as two lights in the kitchen replaced with LED fluros and a light baton replaced in the bathroom downstairs. This will be a relief having more light in the kitchen and the downstairs bathroom one working all the time instead of when it feels like going on.

Being a old decrepit retiree...

I don't know what I'm going to do today.

Maybe nothing..

I don't want to start cleaning up the garage.
I don't want to get the he blower ready for leaves..

I just want to rest and eat

Why did @Peanut have to go and mention power washers and front porches.:dunno:

Jim
I did nothing yesterday. I didn't get finished so I may be doing nothing today. It's a bigger project than I thought when I started.

There's times when doing nothing is harder than than trying not to do something.

Went with the wife up to the court house to get some papers notarized for insurance.

Hope y'all know if you have prepaid funeral arrangements...make sure you and wife are beneficiary on each other's policy, with the funeral home so you can get the interest accrued.

We didn't in my mom now it's a PIA.

Now back to nothing.

Sent a large box to MIL of good stuff: a bathtub bob for water, a five gallon collapsible water jug, a NOAA radio, solar, with charging station for cell phones, and a Coleman fold up propane oven. Talked to her last night and she didn't know if they were shutting her power off, but the next town over is getting the power shut off. (California...PG&E). She said she had water in the swimming pool. But no way to filter it. Thought she'd boil it to drink, but realized she had no way to boil water. She does have food, though. SIL lives with her and survived a hurricane years back in Florida, and did without electricity for a few weeks, so....she has to know something.

Had an uncle years ago that never had a public job, always farmed. He was the biggest horse and mule trader I ever met. But he loved his mules, went on a couple wagon trains with him. So much fun. He got mad when my cousin got a mower for his tractor tocut hay with, said it should only be done with animals. Till the day he died, he would never let a tractor in his tobacco patch, packed the ground to solid he always said. In his late 70's you'd drive by and see him plowing with the mules.
