Today was the wife's birthday. After work took her out to eat at our favorite Japanese resturant. Then went down the street to a gun store to see about getting her in a concealed carry class. We've been wanting her to do this for years, but with the neck, shoulder, arm, and hand problems shes had she just didn't feel like she would be able to manage the shooting portion. Talked to one of the instructors who told her he would be glad to work with her and give her the time she needed. Also she can set up a private class. I bet thats the route she'll take.

Tell her Happy Birthday from us!

My Dad had back surgery and shoulder surgery and was back out shooting in 5-6 weeks. But he did go from a Shield 9mm to a Shield 380 EZ.

atimmie now mules are not used as much and that is a shame if we have to go back to working farm animals. Not many people know how to train or handle mules.

Spent the last two hours on the computer looking for manufacturers repair address and finally on line chat with their technician.

Unit is a control device that interfaces with my other wifi devices. A bit on the expensive side. Worked perfect for the year after installation. Then the wifi stopped working. My trouble shooting (before I retired that is what I did for a living, troubleshooting) indicated the wifi in the device was toast. I will just run the unit manually. A few months later the device was dead. Internal battery wasn't charging.

After going around in circles for a bit online chat with the manufactor's tech he realized his trouble shooting flip chart wasn't helping. All I wanted was the address of their repair center and I was willing to pay because device was long out of warranty. They don't have a repair center. He asked a few questions before offering to make a one time exception by sending me a new replacement at no charge. And they will also provide a prepaid shipping label to return the defective device to them. He couldn't (or wouldn't) answer if the problem was from a buggy software upgrade as reported on the Internet.

That's what I call us timer service!

Wife had her neck broken back in 91, Never regained much hand strength or dexterity. . 5 or 6 years ago she started having shoulder problems, come to find out that was related back to nerve damage from the wreck. Rotator cuff surgery on one side, joint replacement on the other one. Needless to say she has trouble with them . But she hasn't given in. Just makes do as best she can.

@Bacpacker Happy Birthday to Mrs. BP. Good thing she doesn't get older with every happy birthday wish or she'd be ancient:)
@Meerkat Glad you are getting back to yourself and feeling better. Those mules were beauties. I've never spent much time around mules though I might be related to a few.

Took the kid to the Dr, another ear infection. Finished loading the trailer and heading back up the mtn tomorrow.
My daughter had one ear infection after another until her pediatrician decided she should have her tonsils out. He wrote a referral. When we went to see the doctor who was going to do the surgery, he was dumbfounded. He said that Dr. J never referred children for tonsils out. Child's tonsils were so large she could hardly swallow. Tonsils out changed her appetite. No more ear infections either.

Round 1 today is that the electricians were in this morning and we have a new stove installed with a higher amperage fuse in the fuse box, the kitchen has 2 new led fluros and the bathroom has a new light baton installed and it all works a treat :) .

DH has been doing the RSL paperwork and has finished all of the paperwork from January this year and has worked out the program really quickly. We both saw swampy (swamp wallaby) in the yard and he jumped up to us and let me pat him. Code in swampy that I know you are nice people do you have some food. DH cut an apple up for himself and cut the core up to give to him and I had a kiwi fruit that was soft so I cut that up and gave it to him. He is a really elderly swamp wallaby with missing teeth, half his ears missing and is a little lean on it so we tend to spoil him a bit. Kangaroos and wallabies won't come up to you normally and will keep their distance but swampy was asking us for help which we gladly give him.

Just been blogging most of the day apart from that and paying bills online and accepted some more free grocery samples from the supermarket I taste test for.

She's had her tonsils out and tubes put in her ear. It has helped.

@Sewingcreations15 Glad you have your new oven. Your name for the old oven made me laugh... When I moved back here 20 years ago into my grandparents duplex my grandmothers old stove was here... Money was tight for me (lots of medical bills).

Anyway, I had to use that old stove. The oven didn't work at all and only one burner on the stove top worked. It didn't matter the heat setting I selected... It was either off or fully on. It was electric so the heating/cooling lagged (I was used to gas ovens/stove tops).

To do something as simple as fry an egg was almost impossible... turn the heat on, then back off, then back on, then back off... Praying I always turned it back off in time to keep the egg from burning.... My dog got to eat a lot of burned eggs! :D

I actually gave up trying to make grilled cheese sandwiches... I would have starved if it weren't for the microwave and toaster oven.

I got a new stove at the first opportunity (2 years later). :)

Kids are on Fall Break, so they are sleeping in till 830 this morning. Plan to pick up husband's prescriptions, go to the feed store for a restock, take the kids to Krispie Kreme donuts with their report cards (a free one for each A), and then our youngest daughter is taking them to the Balloon glow this evening. Husband has work, and looks like we are on our own for dinner. Putting beef in the dehydrator for jerky that I marinated yesterday.

It is an unusually slow day at work. Very little happening. I am wrapping things up so I can begin a wonderful 4 day weekend. I am off Friday because of working last weekend and I am off Monday because of Columbus Day. Some family is coming up to stay and bringing with the Audi we chatted about in a different thread. If we get snow I will be able to check out it's AWD capabilities right away!

Yesterday was house cleaning and made an appetizer for last night of revival get together.

Today, I have re-potted an African Violet that was a gift (and I haven't killed yet even though it is in the house). Have to hem a pair of my slacks and then make spaghetti for DH. Maybe make more Pumpkin Angel Food Cake appetizers as we may have company tomorrow or Saturday.

Upgraded the OS on the Mac.
Now the VCR to digital software is o longer functional.
Quick Internet search, quick down load and quick install I'm back converting VCR to digital.
Flexable tubing to drain mower engine oil worked like a charm.
Mower engine oil filter removal, oil all over the mower.
Blow out the emgine air filter with compressed air

My son, the ex-computer guy, brought over a 32 bit Gateway laptop that would no longer run Windows 7 and wanted me to fix it. (he was a computer tech for 6 years and never wants to deal with computers again) The bios didn't want to load from the CD so I tried Linux. . . after checking the hard drive and memory it loaded Linux just fine. I even updated to the latest long term support Ubuntu 18.04. Then I tried to load Windows 7 again, nope! It won't boot from the CD. I can't get to the BIOS without the password to make it boot from the CD first so it is running Ubuntu. Now I have to transfer all the data from my wife's laptop to her new laptop so we can give my son her old 64 bit Windows 7 machine.
I also have to put the summer sun shelter away before the weather turns ugly. I am running out of time to paint the house this year so it may wait until late spring.
