Right now we're watching The Sound of Music. It has been many decades since I saw this. It's a lot of fun seeing (after having mostly forgotten) scenes in the movie again. The wife and I are on a short break at the moment - waiting for the DVR to spool more of the show so we can fast forward through the commercials. We had like 45 minutes spooled when we started it, but that got exhausted right after the "So long, farewell" song at the party. We'll get back to it after we've spooled up another 30 minutes or so. But now ... it's brownie time! Still have some left from last night.

I actually like that movie also. We used to go skiing in Vermont ( Stowe) and the Trapp family resort is there. We didn't stay there ( way too expensive) but went and looked at it once
 
We are into season 4 of Yellowstone. The neighbors raved about it so we started watching it. I can't believe that we've already watched 30 episodes so far.😳 The weather has been crappy so we've kinda just been lazy in the evenings. We both really enjoy this show.

Breaking Bad will probably be next. I heard it's really good but still haven't watched any of it.

Was the movie faithful to the book? That is a rarity these days.
 
Over the weekend, I watched a couple of skateboarding films and a cool documentary on climbing K2... the mountaineering film was titled '2 On K2' and it featured some German gal and her boyfriend. The film quality was excellent, so the views were magnificent! If ever a stretch of land could be called 'God's Country' I reckon it's the Karakoram Range... tough to travel through it though, that requires some commitment. And K2 itself is challenging, much more difficult to climb than Mt. Everest... what a peak it is, and the views from the summit are amazing! We're lucky to be able to see such footage nowadays while sitting on a couch in the living room, lol... drinking beer or hard cider, no less. As a younger man, I would've loved to climb K2, and in those days I had the energy to do it, lol... :rolleyes:

As for the skating films, they were awesome, but I gotta admit that---at my age---it's easier to watch somebody ELSE take the hard slams, lol. I know for a fact that the asphalt & concrete hasn't gotten any SOFTER over the years... and some of those youngsters really eat $h!t when they miscalculate their line, lol. Jeez, some of those wipeouts made me cringe on the living room couch, as I know from hard experience just how much those slams hurt, lol. But even if I could go back in time, I wouldn't change a thing... skateboarding was my first real love when it came to sports, followed later by sailing and technical rock climbing. Don't get me wrong, I loved football back in the day, but I was always drawn to individual sports rather than team sports, ya know? That way there's no excuse for p!ss-poor performance, lol... ;)

Anyway, I might watch another skate film later... that's one thing nice about the Roku Streaming Stick, I can go back to the last film and just click on the "More like this" button, that'll bring up other skate films. I watched one film called 'HALLOWED GROUND' with footage of Bob Burnquist on his HUGE backyard ramp... more like a giant elongated wooden bowl with a wide platform surrounding it, it was a work of art! I hate to think how much it would cost to buy all the lumber nowadays, thanks to Biden Economics, pffffffffft. But that's not my problem, my skating days are over and done, but it was cool to see ol' Bob tear it up on that ramp... those Brazilians are serious about their skateboarding, lol. Even the girls rip on skates, some of 'em skate better than I ever did, go figure... but I was skating vertical before they were BORN, lol. :cool:

Edit: After I posted this, I started thinking about BMX, which to me was always intertwined with skating... kind of like a parallel development in each sport. We'd ride our BMX bikes in certain skating venues, as well as in the dirt and on BMX tracks we made back in the day. Nice tracks, with jumps & berms & whoops & everything, lol. Kids armed with shovels and actually working on dirt tracks, instead of sitting on a couch somewhere and playing video games, lol. But I suppose that's why I didn't mention BMX separately before, for me it has always been tied directly to skating. I loved BMX just about as much too, and truth be told, I was probably always a better BMX rider than skater, though I was no slouch as a skater, lol. I just like riding on two wheels, which is why I still have a bike and a thumper in the large shed. Meh, no worries, I'll ride till I die, or until I can't ride any longer... 😬

So, I started watching "Married at first sight" reality tv show on Netflix.
I know..it's fake most likely but by gosh, there isn't a good looking guy on there! My husband is better looking than any of the 5 guys on this season I am watching ( well was at that age anyway). Granted 2 of them would be out for me right away ( I am not attracted to black guys) but the 3 white ones suck too.
No wonder they want to get married without anyone looking at them first!!! And then you see the 300 lb parents and think my gosh this is what they will look like in 20 years....holy cow! And I am still watching because it is entertaining...lol

Our daughter talked us into Ted Lasso. First season was great, and quite funny. Second season got a little more creative, but we stuck with it, and will probably watch the third season when it comes out.

I watched the first season a while back. Daughter is into it. I'm not sure I will ever watch any more of it.

I watched that. I find those arranged marriage things weird. Actors must get paid a lot to marry someone they've never met before. It is a gamble when you are in love with someone!

I think I've seen every version of Wuthering Heights that has come out. The first time I watched a version was a long time ago. I knew little about what it was about then. It is interesting to see all the different takes on it.
 
I haven't watched much tv, but over lunch, I saw an episode of 'Modern Family', which was funny, and one of the nights I watched Christain Bales's new 'Pale Blue Eye', which is classed as a gothic thriller. I enjoyed it for what it was, but would have liked a bit more gore- preferred 'The Frankenstein Chronicles' with Sean Bean. It was darker; must actually finish the series. I'm too lazy to be addicted :D

I think the idea of arranged marriage if done right is a good one. It would have saved me a lot of hassle and I might have not had 3 marriages if I had been matched up with the right guy the first time. I watched a Bollywood documentary on matchmaking a while ago and the way they do it makes sense. The give the info to the matchmaker including preferences, likes, dislikes and of course a photo and then get to pick from a few potential spouses. Then they meet one on one and decide if they are attracted to each other. If not they try another one. I think that's a great idea.
But in this American show, the so called " experts" consider none of that! They match up people that are not attracted to each other , have nothing in common and even have health problems that the other one was not aware of. How stupid. No wonder almost none stay married. I think I could do a better job matching people

Similar in our case. Not parents but scheduling of service calls. The Princess calls it computer dating but it worked nicely.

I have 2 friends in Florida that had arranged marriages, and still married and happy with their marriages ( one from China one from Iraq). It's still common around most of the world. It used to be that way in Europe also. I am pretty sure my great grandparents still had arranged marriages
 
Local cinema club run movies every now and then to help support their film festival. They were funded for tiered seating, which is in an old small courthouse of historical significance that was given over to community use. They've done it up beautifully, with old film posters etc. Last night we went and saw Michelle Yeohs movie ' Everything, everywhere and all at once'. It is a strange movie, part action, part fantasy part I'm not sure what. There's humour and a message within, overall we enjoyed it, but it isn't for everyone.

mostly I watch Doc's and old movies , just watched (It happened one night -again.) I like the simple old movies

I've never seen this. I have to be in just the right mood to watch older movies. I like watching all the versions of the same storyline. Sometimes for me, I like to watch everything I can find that was made by a particular actor or actress.

Watched "Serenity" with Matthew McConaughey last night.
