So another cat came to my house today.... Wanting to be friendly, skinny, got to eat!! Pretty grayish/a little Siamese looking cat. Not an intact male, has a stupid collar with a bell on it☹️☹️! SO.....I am going to ALIENATE ITS AFFECTION, and get that dang collar off of it!! I named it Sammy (gender neutral name), think it's my new cat! Sammy will LOVE living here! The previous owners are NOT feeding that baby!!

If someone paid to have it 'fixed' it likely has a 'chip' inside it.
When you find time, get a vet to scan it.
Young cats do stupid things and it may have wandered off and got lost.
If it has been without food for weeks, it will be skinny (not the fault of the owner).

Cats wander off or the families move , especially around here. Lots of rental houses, lots of moving, and no thoughts to what happens to a pet when you move without em. At least 6 cats know where therre is food and water and a place to sleep here.

The shelter I volunteer at has free spay/neuter and vet care for "community cats", but they do not get microchipped.

Look for an "ear tip". Somebody trapped a community cat and got it fixed.

Here, a "chip" is 20 bucks, and they do not do Ferals.

No ear notch! Until I get a hold of it I won't know much more. I am very sure it belongs to a family on the next road. Their last poor cat had a collar with a bell, it was run over by a car. They also have a Huskey and a mutt dog that stay in a 4'×5' pen. The mom is in jail at the moment on drug charges! So long story short.......if possible, Sammy is losing the collar and living here if it wants to do so!!😸

Collars... bells... ugh. My cats have chips, but otherwise they are as nature intended them to be. Collars can get hung up on branches too, which is a safety hazard. The bell might as well be a dinner bell for varmints... I like my cats stealthy and unnoticed, their chances of long-term survival are higher that way. Besides, with such beautiful coats, I don't want a single square inch covered with a collar... better to see them as nature meant them to be.

P.S. Pics!!! 🤣

I'm on picture alert!! First have to get Sammy to trust me more! Haven't seen him/her, just got home a bit ago. Will update soon!!

And the poor thing can't possibly hunt for its own food with that bell!!☹️

I just got done feeding the outside cats! I called them and Sammy came too! He (I'm pretty sure) looks to be a Maine Coon mix, blue eyes, so skinny! He smelled my hand!! The collar has a plastic quick snap so it should come off easy once I can get him to trust me more! He knows when feeding time is and where the dog (😮cat ) houses are! Little black Annie likes him! So one day at a time, hope nothing gets him before I can get the collar off!!

He hung around a while before retiring to the kitty tree house! An old kid's tree house we keep in good repair because the cats love it! I know some of you think I am taking someone else's cat, but I can take it and have it scanned and return it, but it will be right back here where it eats and is cared for!! Sammy came to me!!

Collar removal success!! Sammy let me pet him(? still couldn't get a good look through the longish hair, but no balls), the collar was tight and the clasp tangled in his hair!! He sat patiently and let me get it off. Then he purred and rubbed on a flower pot, so happy!! The two outside girls came over to check him out, but Sammy is shy around them yet. Looks like they will all get along! They all had a good breakfast and Sammy is in one of the front porch houses! The girls are tormenting a squirrel!! Should be able to get pictures later!!😸

First pic of Sammy!! He is a neutered male, got a good look! Also got a tube of flea control on him. Will get better pics soon, don't want to rush things!!

actually, @Pearl ya know, he looks part BOBCAT! Look at 'im all adorable but vicious looking. Little white poochies where his whiskers are, fierce gleems in him's eyes to mesmerize you then pounce!
He has a big fluffy tail! Maine Coon looking head and blue eyes!! Hope he comes around as fast as Annie did. Sammy is a lot skinnier!☹️ He may be an old cat, will have to look at his teeth!!😮

Sammy is SO emaciated under that hair, hope he makes it!! Such a sweet boy. The girls ( Annie and Baby Cakes) check on him often! He is eating, drinking, pooping, and peeing! Just hoping nothing gets him before he gains strength. His belly is full, so I know he is happier than he's been in a while!!

@Pearl is he not hanging around your property? What would get him? Coyotes? I'll bet he doesn't wander far. He's made it this long being out in the wild vicious world, I think he's going to make it and he'll be looking all handsome and revitalized in a few weeks.
Bless you for helping him! Will you deworm him?

I had a registered birman. I think Sammy is a Birman mix. Something about his fur screams birman, can't describe why. Here's a net pic of a birman mix. run a search and look at some of the birman images. Check the fur...

He does look like a Birman, need to get better pics, he is so much prettier in person! Yes, I will give him dewormer in a few days, wanted his system to acclimate to eating regularly. I have had coyotes up near the house! Had one grab Baby Cakes a couple of years ago. She attached herself to it's face, it let go and took off and she went up a tree! She was ok! Also have owls!! My Tiger (house cat) was part of a feral litter. His mom and littermates were killed by coyotes about 30' from the house in the woods. Somehow he lived, he fit in the palm of my hand, had to bottle feed him a few days! So I really worry about Sammy. Updates coming!!

Sammy just needs some love (and food), his condition should improve quickly... if he has made it this far, he's a survivor, and some good chow will put meat back on his bones and give him strength. Poor guy has been neglected, but you're doing the right thing... despite his current condition, he's a handsome little tiger! 😍

P.S. Regular feeding will reinforce his desire to stay right there on the property... and with the help of the other cats (as far as "sentry duty" goes), he'll be safer, as opposed to wandering around solo like a feral cat without a colony. 😒
