Be careful with that sardine cans. Don’t they have sharp edges?
Yeah, but he knows how to avoid them, I have no idea how he pulled the ring, but I've seen him unscrew lids and his steady Maude unties knots. Rocky and Rocket know to push the broom over and climb on it to get to the cookie stash, but I think Hoover showed them that trick.

My internet speeds are normal when I run a test on speedtest.net. But this forum is slow. I have gotten the little orange three-bar slowness icon thingy in the upper right of the forum webpages a couple of times today. That is put up there by the forum itself, so the forum knows it's slow (it doesn't know about my overall internet connection).
The solar storms and coronal mass ejections for the last week or so have played havoc with the internet, among other things.

Wife and I relaxing and reading on our front porch. She has been running ASMR videos non-stop. Why settle for one fireplace when you can have 2?

Potatoes are starting to bake and prime rib is thawing on the counter.

We made it up to Best Western in Attalla, AL today on our journey to Pigeon Forge TN. Meeting up with daughter and boyfriend up there for 4 days.
Was amazed we made it from south Louisiana to Pearl River MS burning only 7 gallons of gas:oops:.
The Acadia definitely does not have a 327 under the hood .

Attalla, AL

Is this the exit with the Cracker Barrel? If so, good choice. The next exit north has hotels... I'll never stay at that exit again!! Prostitution and drugs in the parking lots. I had to call the cops just to get some sleep.

Anyway, glad you made it that far... oh, there's ginseng within 2 miles of the exit you're at. 😁

And as I am perusing through one of my new books, I find this:

Having eaten just enough yesterday, today we are celebrating our youngest birthday. A bit of a lie-in followed by a walk up through the woods, as it is clear today (frosty night) then home for some french toast and bacon, and opening of birthday presents. A little 'playing with presents' today and I'll do the last turkey dinner of 2023 later. I took a load of photos on my trusty old camera, will upload soon.

Will walk in a few minutes.
Going to bank for help with setting up online account. I entered something wrong.
Calling audiologist for DH for earlier appt. if possible. My throat hurts from yelling even when standing in front of him.
Calling for copy of last week's lab work for me. I always keep a copy.
Local grocery for DH
Will pitch and/ or freeze unhealthy foods today. DH may want some of them for later. I don't need them.

It is pouring outside still
so everyone will stay in, and we have to clean around them. It's pouring so much I don't even want to put the sheep out

Daughter is driving back from Florida today, in this crappy weather. Hope they get home ok

No plans for today other than take care of the animals.

Husband got us a present, a new game we all played yesterday until late. It's a farming game and rather complicated but once we got the hang of it sort of it was fun. I forgot the name already, Agri something

Oh and this forum is still running really slow. I couldnt get it to work at all at first, but our internet seems to be fine

It's raining here, I wanted to go for a walk but I don't like getting soaked....

Our Son goes home tonight, it will be days before the kitchen recovers, my sugar is holding high but we are running out of cookies :)

The wife wants us to start taking down our decorations, and she isn't easily dissuaded... I plan on taking down the outside decorations on MLK day.

I may go out and open up the lids on my raised beds, lows are in the 40s and highs at about 50 so the plants can get a drink and some fresh air...

Got a raise this year, but no bonus... It means that I will need to work at least 18 months extra before retiring. The nice thing is I can use the time to pay off my new truck (looks just like @hashbrown's white one, except I have steel wheels); without raiding my retirement fund...
On the negative I will have to renew my passport and start traveling again... I might even find a way to drop in on some unsuspecting members....

I am hoping that everyone here at the "homesteadingforum" has a safe, healthy, and prosperous new year in 2024.

It's snowing this morning. So far there isn't enough to plow the road yet. We had planed on going south for feed and supplies today, but I'm not looking forward to driving 200+ miles on icy roads. We may hold off a few days. As soon as possible I need to get the studded tires put on my Jeep too. I know, I should have swapped tires a month or so ago. Just got lazy.

Laying low today, not feeling up to par. Incredible sinus pressure pain.
Watched the first two Lord of the Rings movies last night. Was disappointed to see executive producers’ names, did some research. Quotes from a few of the actors nailed it. They designed a few of the orcs to resemble the weinstein individual(s) and used colorful language to describe how the crew and cast felt about him. That must be why I find some of the orcs familiar yet repulsive. I still don’t understand how or why that horrible person’s name ended up in the credits.
Planned on putting a turkey in the oven today. Truly missed that at Thanksgiving but wondering why I didn’t wait until New Year’s Eve. 🤔

Today's plans changed quickly, got a call informing us that the wife's defibrillator went off Friday morning, they said, "don't panic"... Then the doctor calls, need to get blood work, x-ray, ekg, and get new meds - right now... "he sounded panicked". So we are shifting gears an making appointments, it takes 40 minutes to get there so will be leaving soon. You know, you live with this stuff for 20 years and it just doesn't seem that scary any more... Just something else to deal with today....

The Christmas party was real nice last night, food n company were great so I'm glad I went.
I was planning on going for a long walk headed due west of me. At the end of the road past my neighbors land, its pasture grassland for a bit, then alot of BLM land I was told. I was looking on Google earth last night and found some interesting land features. Looks like a giant mole was underneath a few areas, pushing up the earth. This area has alot of ancient volcanic leftovers, a fact I didnt know untill I started rockhounding the area more and connected the hot spring dots, etc..
Anyways, we got a little bit of snow this am and it's cold n gloomy. I'll save the adventure for a sunny day.
I gotta get some stuff done but today is basically get ready for work n chill..
