So getting older and looking for something to help with things that hurt on places I did not know existed on my own body
Today I received a box in the mail

I opened the box and opened the jar
Ate 1 gummy as I walked back to the house.
An hour later my back does not hurt

The V.A. is supportive of the use of CBD and related products, from what a cousin of mine who works at the V.A. told me.

The VA is trying to get permission to prescribe marijuana to PTSD sufferers.
It seems like they are still stuck in the 1980's mindset of drugging the PTSD vets into submission.

For the record, the VA treated me for PTSD from 1985 to 1994. I refused their drugs though. I saw what it did to my friends.

I'm not against CBD use, but you have to be careful if you are subject to drug testing at work. I was going to try it for osteoarthritis in my knee, but I'm a truck driver and would be fired if I tested positive.
Instead I got a total knee replacement. To match my other leg.

The wife uses some cream on her hands and shoulders. It does help her. But I get tested periodically, so I stay away from it until I retire.

The CBD you can buy on line and have delivered in the mail is made from hemp not MJ and has no THC, or a very minute amount. But I wouldn't risk it if you have a CDL.
If you live in a state that has legalized MJ you can get CBD with THC from a local MJ store.
My wife has tried both and neither helped her so she uses medical MJ.
At least she is sleeping better now. She still hurts however.
Nothing will help her pain except high powered opioids and she will not use those.
I grew 2 different varieties of MJ for her.
One helps during the day with reducing pain and the other helps sleep at night.
@rice paddy daddy you are 100% correct about testing positive and having a CDL.
They will take that license away in a heart beat.
I think the alcohol level is even reduced below .08 for CDL holders.

yes, i gorw leghally and make my own oils. the cbd oil, the thc-a oil and the thc and the extra strong cancer recipe.. it depends on the plant % ratio as to potency. i favor a 50-50 cbd to thc ratio. i started growing and taking it for my fibromyalgia pain making oils and salves. it worked very well. then i got breast cancer and learned to make that recipe, that also worked. 8yrs still no cancer.

i know some people that use cbd oil for pain and some use just the hemp seed oil and say that helps with their pain or anxiety or sleep problems. everyones different . if that works, its fantastic. you can buy hemp seed oil (very very low cannabanoids) legally on amazon. just make sure cold pressed, organic and nothing else in it. i like using it when i make my other oils or salves.

one good tip to alwasy remember when trying out any cannabis products:
if you take some and start feeling too high or the 'drunk' feelings start eating sugar, candy, chocolate, snickers---it will end that feeling very quickly as in just a few minutes. it will not interfere with the pain relief, just the brain thing.

eating fats-proteins will prolong that feeling.

our bodies have a cbd system--sorry i forgot the correct name--but like we have lymphatic system or respirotry or immune system we have a cbd system that does nothing until we take in something that has cbds in it.
cabbage for one has low levels and there are other foods we eat.

the plant has a place and can be quite useful nd like everything else can be abused.

wouldnt hurt to get some good seeds to set aside just in case.

When you use this stuff, how long does it last? When I an standing or walking for moderste periods of time my left knee gets very sore. If I am on it continually it will start to throb after an hour or so. I am wondering if this would help?

I put it to an extreme test about three years ago. I needed a root canal on a tooth that had a crown on it. The pain started at Christmas time and I couldn't get help until after New Years! I was wreaking in pain and desperate enough to call every dentist in the area and beg for help. They were all afraid of the crown and all told me that I needed a specialist. So I suffered. Literally crossed-eyed in pain. (The specialist later told me that was not uncommon due to the proximity of the optical nerve to those top row teeth)

What I learned is that different people have different results from cannabis products. I'm a lucky one? The cheapest low level 250mg had same effect as the high priced 1000mg. It didn't give me total relief from that kinda pain, but it certainly took the edge off enough that I could manage without sitting still with my hands over my face and afraid to move...

I must admit, I am blown away by what percentage of members here consume cannabis products .
...Then again, I know a lot of 70's hippies are still kicking around, (myself included).

But I am one to push the envelope so I know at some point I will gobble 3 just to know if goblins exist or not. I am pretty sure they don’t, but then again back in the 70’s I saw a giant frog on a Vw saying

Pot was made illegal to harass Mexicans that came into town to party on the weekends
Towns people did not want them around and noticed them smoking pot
So … make it illegal so they can be arrested

MJ use among senior citizens is growing fast.
Seem like us old timers are less trusting of big Pharma and getting back to natural methods.

I’ve tried a few different brands of gummies looking for help sleeping. For me they take 2hrs to take effect. I don’t know if I’ll need help 2hrs in advance. And if I need help I don’t want to wait that long either! I end up chewing them when I didn’t need too sometimes. And they aren't cheap here.

The best I had for leg pain was a tincture of raw mj. It was a topical spray and worked great. I got hurt by a bull and used a cane for 6 months. It was an alcohol base scented with a little lavender, didn’t stink. It evaporated right away, was pain free in 10min. Lasted about an hour. Don’t know if it was legal, got it from a buddy. He was a commercial roofer, fell and broke a dozen bones. It really helped him.

I told DW about this thread & she gave me three reasons not to use it.
1) you do not know how many mg are in each does, the dose is not consistent.
2) you can get high
3)............... (I can not remember what she said, but it was negative)
So if I take it, I will have to hide it like a child in the cook jar, to keep the peace.
I do not understand the push back, she uses vitamins gummies & I could apply the same argument to them.
Well, maybe not the getting high.
