Wore myself out yesterday, slept late today and missed church. Finally got going in time to drive to the city and pick up Daughter and go to Brother's concert. He's in a local concert band, and they had a world-famous piano player come do a concert with them, he's from the town so likes to come home and play with this little amateur band. He was really sweet, played a special song for his 92 year old mom who was in the audience. The whole concert was Gershwin; not my favorite sort of music but was good to have a bit of family time.
I didn't get anything done today, so will have to get up early and clean out the fireplace before the guys get here to deliver and install my new woodstove.
LL, I'm so sorry your knee was injured! After several crashes, I learned to refuse to get on the chair with a boarder. They always manage to trip me up and knock me down with the board no matter how hard I tried to stay narrow. Or they stop and sit down right in front of you to do up their bindings. Hope you heal up quickly!

Afyer delaying a day and then an extra hour die to mechanical problems with the plane I finally made it to Fort Worth. Practiced the route to the convention center and found a grocery store. Ate up some fine vidals, while watching The Beverly Hillbillies.

I have been awake since 7am yesterday, drove to Vegas at 2am to catch a 6am flight that left about 7-something. I did catch a few short naps but nothing significant.
It’s about 5pm local time and I am about ready for bed.
Trade show starts in the morning.
Sweet dreams.
Good luck at the show 🍀
Got the peas and the spinach planted. Levi wanted to help, and really was a help. I sent him home with extra snap pea seeds I had to also plant at his house. We talked about what can go into the ground now, and what has to wait for mid march. He's wanting to help do the potatoes and onions in a few weeks when they go in. Got two of the dehydrators filled with canned beans that just expired...one with pinto and one with ranch. So they will be stored as "fast" beans...just add water. Out of steam now, having an ice tea and will be starting dinner. Little granddaughter visited with her mom all afternoon, and they did alot of painting on some canvas. Didn't finish the windows, but tomorrow is another day.
Sure sounds to me like you were placed in Levi’s life for good reason 😍

@Mountain trapper hey now none of that! Hope it’s already better!

Didn’t sleep super well last night. Got up and was still just toe touching. Ate some eggs so I could take some Advil. Then I laid on the couch and propped a pillow under the knee and actually slept for an hour or so. Once I woke up and got up I can at least set my foot flat and there isn’t a shooting pain as I hobble around. From what I gather, it’s the MCL and hopefully just strained or bruised 😁. Icing it again as I type. I will be taking an extra pillow to bed with me tonight 👍

Solomon's Seal... wonderful for ligament/tendon injuries. :) Hope you have some on hand.

Got a little more done on the trees, set up our new Blackstone flat top. Heated it up and got it seasoned. Then cooked a lb of bacon. Man that thing cooks quick. Here's a couple pics.

finally started on emptying some five gallon buckets i used for mylar packed freeze dried food. I found it was wastefull of space with the buckets so I am repackaging the freeze dried into the larger yellow topped black storage totes. I then threw a myar bag in the five gallon buckets and poured them full of split peas and a container of salt packed seperately. Weighs about 30 pounds and should make a lot of soup.

I also ordered a moisture/ ph/light meter from amazon. might be handy with this years garden and bucket garden. While I was on amazon I ordered another 150 tablets of potassium iodine......hope for the best prepare for the worst.

Haven't checked in for a while. Life has been craziness for the last couple of months. At work it seems that as soon as I get assigned to a new position, I get bumped right back out of it. Since January 23rd I've held six different positions an been bumped out of five of them. Monday morning I'm headed up to the Twin Cities for #7 - a spot on an "In-track welding" gang. This is a gang that welds rails together to form continuous rails. Hopefully I don't get bumped out.

On the home life front, I've been spending a lot of time with my GF and her dog. They both love me. For privacy's sake, I can't really post a pic of my GF, but I don't think Ruby the Lab will mind if I share a pic of her adoreableness...

Can't remember if I posted at all on Saturday. I went into town to get some stuff and asked friend if he needed anything for the wedding later that day. He said they didn't have enough chairs. I managed to snag 12 more chairs from Walmart to bring. Fewer people showed up than they expected so with the extra ones I brought there was enough for almost everyone. I took a shower, sauteed some mushrooms for a visiting friend, and then helped Mom get dressed. We were almost late because she took so long. Other people did arrive late so the wedding started a about 30minutes late. There was a slight problem with the ground being soft so all the women wearing heels were having problems walking-- heels sinking into the ground. Friend's Mom wore particularly pointy heels and ended up having to go barefoot. Wheelchairs were very hard to push around. Even some of the chair legs started sinking. But it was a nice temperature and the birds were singing. Bride & groom were very happy. People were commenting they'd never seen either of them smile so much. The bride's bio dad said that his daughter had a glow about her once she started dating the groom. It was a short ceremony around 4minutes. Groom danced with the bride and then with his mother. Bride danced with her stepfather and then her bio father. Friend's daughter joined in at one point. Then food was served. Most of it had either stuff I don't like or stuff I can't eat but I expected that so I had a salad before going. Hung out for a couple of hours before Mom wanted to go home. I got her shoes off and helped her put everything away before we both racked out. I didn't really get up until after 4pm.

Woke up with charlie horses in my legs in the morning. Right one was cramping at the ankle and below the knee for 10min straight. Had to get up and stand on just that leg to get it to loosen up just a little. Took magnesium and naprosyn. Legs are still bugging me. Lower back really hates me. But I'm happy for my friend.

Tried to troubleshoot Mom's brand new computer. It stopped working the other day. Less than a week and it already went kaput. Going to return it after my friend has a chance to look at it and see if he can get it working. If he can't, I'll return it and then get a mini computer for Mom instead.

Went into town to visit for a bit and say goodbye to the friend who came down from Michigan. We're all going to miss him.

Got home and am putting my feet up. Got a doctor's appointment tomorrow afternoon.

Little bit disappointed there @Bacpacker. I was hoping to see some pics of bacon.

Yesterday was just regular Church day and walk the dogs.

Already walked this morning.
Handyman will be here soon to fix a couple of small issues inside house.
Later, is laundry
Shovel city gutters so we don't flood when it rains later.
Write my friend in Military.

Lady Locust and WV Dragonlady, I hope you both heal completely and soon!
Tomorrow morning, 3rd infusion in my latest round of 5.
I hope this round goes well!

Taking a break now, today is a regular work day. I'm hoping that it doesn't rain so I can take a quick walk after lunch. I need to exercise more and stop eating breads and starches, I had stopped and lost 25 pounds, then they snuck (sp/dc) back into my life... :)
(sp/dc) - spelling error / don't care :)

Been following the thread "Prepping for getting old". Makes me think of the need for a communal society for aging preppers. I'm imaging a compound surrounded by small single floor houses, big central garden, animal barn/poultry house, summer kitchen/canning area, meeting house, store house, shop, and first aid/medical station. Yep, if you had millions to spend you could make an "interesting" community....

Coffee. Going to have to suck it up and plow snow in the cold, WHaaa, poor me , actually poor machines.

That's funny you say that about an ageing commune, Urban. My favorite cousin and I chuckle because there's an amish nursing home in Florida called Miller's Merry Manor. Her last name is Miller, too, so she called herself the same, till her husband passed in December. Now I get the jokes. I'll probably do the same here with aged people, but they need to know how to shoot straight and spend time in the garden. Today is husband's dermatology appt in the bigger town, so we're going to that in a bit. Little granddaughter is off school today, so she's going with us, and I promised we'd go to the deli in our little town and bring home sandwiches for lunch. They also have really good meats, so maybe some bacon or summer sausage. We were gifted two $50 gift certificates there, so no problem spending them. They also have a Troyer's brand natural swiss cheese, and I like to get a couple pounds of that. No other plans except maybe wash some windows (taking me forever), and the little garage needs a sweep out and a clean up.

Nice Day for the Outside and that is where Me wil bee...!!! Yesturday started cleaning out the Leaves used for ground cover protection of Me plants roots...!! Found a few surprises plus Plants are Alive and starting to Sprout New Leaves and Buds(N0, Not MJ)...! ;)

Made some mac n' cheese for daughters lunches as the roast tomato and red pepper soup was hoovered up. Also some almond slices and quiche from the beaten eggs I had frozen in November, presuming the hens would stop laying. They haven't! dinner for the boys is leftover beef casserole from yesterday with veg.

Wheres the pics of your griddle? I love our Blackstone griddle. The other day I bought a cookbook just for the griddle. When it warms up some I'm going to cook up some potato pancakes, with bacon of course.

I don't want to scare you or cause you any urgent medical issue so you might skip the following. 😂

Our coffee pot is dying so here in a minute, I will go see if I can find a new one. We do have a percolator or two, but for work days, we like the drip kind that we can set so the coffee is ready when we wake up. This morning, I had to go in and push the button then WAIT for coffee - oh the agony.

Knee is somewhat better. Hoping it just keeps getting better. Thanks for all the kindness.
