I'm getting my spare bedroom ready for my queen bed to King bed swap. I went to offer up and bought a king headboard, took it home and found out it was for an Eastern King bed, instead of my needed Cal King bed. Every inch matters in order to set it on a wall with adjoining nightstands, so I cut it down 8" to 73", which is perfect for a Cal King. This frame was probably 50 years old, based on the flathead screws and square nuts. Well, so far, so good with the cuts. Now, I just have to paint it to match the existing Ethan Allen furniture in the bedroom. Since I'm moving the bed to the long wall, I also have to remove the TV and place it on the opposite wall, which of course, means I need to snake down new power to hide the cords behind the TV. Then, I can patch and paint the room. What an exhausting chunk of work, just because of the Sleep Number bed that I got mama for her birthday present.

@Frodo, I hope everything goes well with the surgeon.

Ooh, i love 4 o'clocks! mirabilis jalapa I think is the scientific name. I have mostly pink ones but a few yellow and very few white ones. I know there are other colors that I'd like to get eventually. What color ones did you plant?
I really don’t know what colors they will be. They were bare roots. We’ll see what comes up. My Nana had a lot of 4 o’clock and as a kid, my cousin and I would collect the large seeds from the flowers. They have sentimental values to my childhood.

Half day at work today—I worked Sunday and would be in danger of going over hours. It was fun this morning. We’re about 45 miles from the epicenter of the earthquake. Everyone around me thought they were going crazy or having a medical emergency. I went and stood in the doorway. Some of the drugs jumped off the shelf but nothing worse.

Y’all had a quake in Joisey!?
Just working, work tomorrow.
@winds-of-change love that you have that. Missing my flowers from back east…sweet Annie, violets and Johnny jump ups. I decided I’m just going to garden everything. Sun might kill it all by July. I have a lot of flower seeds but none from my mom’s or my own.

Yeah we was a movin and a groovin.

I’m not so good about maintaining my flowers after I plant them. I’m not able to get around easily or drag the hose with me as I waddle around. It gets unbearably hot here, too. So it’s mostly survival of the fittest in regard to my flowers. But I had total knee replacement last October and I’m doing a bit better.

I grew up in California and remember 2 big ones, for sure.
Today was an at home day. Amazon guy was delivering and saw me come out of the greenhouse, and talked for over an hour about plants, food, meds. He was a 30 ish guy who is also in nursing school. Little granddaughter and I just hauled all of the flats of seedlings from the upstairs back room to the greenhouse. Talk about a workout! Doesn't look like we'll be having anymore below freezing nights. Still have some more uppotting to do, but not today. Husband got some weekend meds called in for a just in case to keep him out of ER this weekend, so I'll pick them up tomorrow when I go in to get feed. Little granddaughter will go with me to help with feed if we stop in at HTeaO, her new favorite cheap thrill.

Drove South to Williams AZ.
Only about a 160 mile drive but the wind was howling all the way.
Constant speed of around 20 with gusts around 35.
White knuckle drive the whole way. Got snowed on but nothing serious.
Wind is still blowing and the temp is supposed to be 22 tonight.
Going on a train trip to the Grand Canyon on Sunday.
So far this cross country RV trip has been fun.

So the family down the road came to see the blue bird chicks. They came last week when it was just a nest full of eggs. I’ve invited them to come every week so they can see the chicks grow. The kids are a joy to have around. And the play with the dogs, too. My dogs love that!

Ooh! You know I want to see pictures! LOL. Sounds very cool and I'm glad you found something you could work with from Offer Up.
My sister has a sleep number bed. I think she had to have the mattress repaired or replaced at some point because something went wrong with it, but they have a long warranty. I wonder how soft they can get. I like the perforated memory foam on a warm day soft. LOL.

I love that they are so low maintenance. They will grow like weeds though. I still love them. I also have sentimental attachment to them. Two women who were like grandmothers to me grew them. The one who was like a mother to my mother grew pink and white ones in her yard. The other one who was like a mother to my dad (both families pretty much adopted us when we moved down here) grew yellow ones. I took seeds from the 4 o'clocks in both of their yards and planted them. I still have some seeds lying around. I used to have them labeled by color but the cats spilled them so they are all mixed together. As a kid I did an experiment with cross-pollinating the different colored flowers and came out with interesting results. white with pink stripes, pink with yellow stripes, yellow with pink stripes. Some came out almost orange but were clearly mixed color. The smell of them is really nice too.

Seeing people mentioning "half day" at work made me think of when I lived in Guam. The Chamorro greeting "Hafa Adai" is pronounced like "half a day". The local joke is that its the Chamorro work day.

Catching up on some rest today before I have to go to the pharmacy to pick up RXs. My brother has to work today but I'm concerned about whether or not he'll be able to drive with his right foot/ankle in a brace. Its Friday so I'll have to find some veggies and seafood to cook for Mom. She won't eat meat on Fridays anymore. It's a weird thing bc she doesn't go to church or observe any other Catholic ritual. She didn't even do Lent this year. But she sticks to the no meat on Fridays thing.

The granddaughter just came up to the fur shed to hang out with grandpa. Of course she came just in time to see me slice my thumb open on a skinning knife. When the bleeding stopped and I finished my cigar, we took a break and went outside to do some shooting. The wife inherited an old .22 single shot. It looks like a Winchester 1894. She's still a little small for it but is trying hard.

Sounds like its been a great trip so far. Williams was a cool little town back in 2002. We enjoyed Hermits rest, had a fund day in that area.
Making me wish we had a trip out there coming up.
Got my little chain saw back on line.

Heard from my bff’s bro, get to see him sometime this month. I’ve known him since I was 10. Ended up being good friends with him long term. I wonder if he remembers how he used to talk to us? 🤣 Things like, what’re you little queers doing? And, don’t be so stupid! Gimme that! All said in fun from him but gosh he was good at insulting!
We weren’t queers, we weren’t stupid, but we were together all the time. He was a good brother though. Will be a great day when I see him, has probably been 20 years.

Yesterday was my Dr appt
Symptoms still present
So the Dr wants to have another look to sere if the meds have helped or not
His plan is to scope me from both ends
They tried to schedule the test then the process stopped when they asked for co pays. I said nottoday
That is just plain criminal, a person should not pay co pay till the insurance pays and they should set it up on payments if you need to.

They charged my wife at 1 dentist the copay and then charged the insurance before they ever even did the work, the senior dentist had a look and said they didn't need to do all of that and cancelled it after they had already been paid.

It took three months to make the Dental Association repay the money and insurance companies.

I will see if I can locate her.
Who should I say said hi?
Just from some So Cal cop friend, Mark from Azusa. She moved to Williams, bought a chunk of land, and had a custom built house and barn. Besides needing to truck in water (shallowest well is 3500', so very pricey) but loves it there.

(Drilling deep The groundwater table is 3,500 feet below the surface, making it difficult and expensive to drill wells, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. In comparison)

So I just bought some winter rims with tires off a Prius , they are getting slightly modified, the center bore, and then they are going to get used for firewood equipment. I find it rather ironic and humourous and the price was right insert evil laugh here

I like the irony :D. Muhahahahahah. (my evil laugh needs practice)

no goat kids
2 more cold nights
today more weather like yesterday but we are going to be home so ok. The problem with the cold if they have kids is that they can't dry them off fast enough if there are 3 or 4 so we have to help and make sure all babies nurse very shortly after birth. Then they are usually ok even if its cold. We had one give birth when it was 15 degrees outside and not too much warmer in the barn last year. Everyone made it ok, she had 3

I think today I am going to start cooking more freezer meals for husband when we are gone and for us when I really don't have time to cook. I did make some but son ate them all as snacks LOL
So far everything I made worked ok, except frozen broccoli in some fettucine alfredo didn't heat up well, it was still hard and cold and the rest of the meal was already very hot when reheated in the microwave. Maybe I need to cut them in smaller pieces or just not put any in

almost forgot, update on cutting Otto's nails: I have been giving him treats to let him touch his paws, and sort of cutting 1 nail a day, almost done. He is getting more tolerant on me touching his paws.
Why am I now in the mood for some fettuccine alfredo? 🤤

Didn’t get as much done today as I would have liked to. Didn’t sleep well last night so took a nap about lunchtime. 🫣. Had to go to DMV and renew my license 🙄. Took hubby his lunch, stopped at the accountant and dropped off the last papers I had been waiting on, went to two different stores then came home for that nap. Finally finished the stack of ironing 🤪 and cleaned the living room, bedroom, bathroom and began on the dining room- leaving the rest for tomorrow. Fixed what will be tomorrow’s lunch (hamburger cabbage soup) and am now sitting 😎

Uh, what is ironing :p

Drank some coffee, worked a few hours, took mom swimming, ate a donut. Then it got interesting, went to the project house to check on the menfolk. Husband was working and my dad had to make a run over the hill so the boys were going to town on demolition unsupervised. I have a sneaky suspicion that they may have been enjoying it. I asked them to tear up the subfloor in the area we knew the floor joists needed work in the kitchen. It went from “what were they thinking?” To “what in the h$&&?!”.if they had just fixed it right in the first place, it probably would have been cheaper and easier than the Frankenstein operation we uncovered. Easy fix, remove all the subfloor and replace 10 floor joists level and properly hung, and replace the subfloor. No more roller coaster in the kitchen. As my dad said, never hire that crew!

We wrapped up, cleaned up, took some showers. One kid ran off in a three piece suit and a tie to his spring formal while the other kid mad sloppy joes for dinner. I’ve been sitting quietly with an infrared light on my neck trying to prevent a full blown muscle seizure episode. I should know better than try to help with demo. My job tomorrow will be running the trailer to the dump.
