@joel you're not having damages due to all the rain?
No
1) South Carolina is an ancient sea shore, real sandy to sandy loam, some red clay hills.
2) we get a lot of light to med showers, very few gully washer like out west/ mid west.
More rain but spread out over week of lite showers.
3) Tropical storms dump a lot of water, a few years ago people died & dams broke, but it is uncommon over all. It has rained every week of May & June, but only lite showers.
I keep hearing about camper in bone dry weather drowning in flash floods out west, but not in the south east.

watching the Fifth Element.
That is one of those movies for me that if I turn to a channel and it is on, I have to watch it. Always have. "Oh Brother, Where Art Thou" is another one.
you walk first, and then you walk the dogs? How much distance are you putting in every day?
2-3 miles a day while walking me and or dogs.
[/QUOTE
Had an interview today
I hope it went well!
and then the drive home
Hope you arrive home safely with a little energy and sanity left!

Walked first, then walked dogs.
The mail lady is acting like she won't pick up our mail on the porch as she is concerned about the kitten that has been hanging around. She doesn't like it being friendly and around her legs. Weighs less than 2 pounds. We may have to check with Post Office to see what their rules are. She has spray.
Going to prune back a bush on the side of house.
Sweep house.
Try to call cable company again to cancel cable.
Do a few eBay drafts.

@sonya123 I need time off too. Next weekend maybe. Classes will be done, I will have a 2 day weekend. On burnout mode.
It has been a cool summer so far here in Texas. Like today didn't go above 100. ;)

@phideaux glad yall will be able to move and everything is falling into place quickly. @Neb you work hard. Can't wait to see the finished product. Got an end date in mind?

I'm heading into the city tomorrow but we'll be in TX cowboy central city so should be fine. Kiddo #6 having wisdom teeth bothering her.

@snappy1 you walk first, and then you walk the dogs? How much distance are you putting in every day? Our dog doesn't want to go anywhere since the 4th. She still thinks they'll start popping off any second.
Had an interview today. One of very few times I've been called that fast after applying. I applied Thursday or Friday night and was called on Monday.
@LadyLocust thanks for sharing beautiful photos of the falls.
@Terri9630 sorry about your boss. I'm not taking that kind of stuff so well anymore.
@rusty you stay in touch with these folks here. A transfusion is a good thing, hopefully you'll feel better quickly. Prayers for you and your family. Sorry you're not doing so great.
You have 6 kiddos? (I was thinking 3 or 4 for some reason.)

I'm supposed to go back to the store today to get stuff we couldn't carry yesterday. I need to get a fridge thermometer. I'm waiting for my naproxyn to kick in. Was up early this morning dealing with a bad cat fight. Had to splash both cats with water to snap them out of it- after I used my foot to separate them. They had knocked open the doors to the front room by rolling into them while fighting. It was an ugly fight and they were hyperventilating afterward. My brother really needs to get them neutered. They both wanted cuddles from me afterward.

Changed the AC filter. Probably should have done it sooner. I keep wondering if there is a way to recycle the wires from them because I hate to throw out stuff with metal.

A box of floppy disks got spilled & after I picked them up I was looking at the metal parts on them and wondering if there is some use for them. Hoarder instincts. I know. LOL.

Baked bread yesterday. I ordered more flour to keep in the freezer. I go through a bit more now that I am making pizza dough. I'll make the dough tomorrow for Friday.

Just trying to beat the heat and straighten the school room before school starts. I have tons of books everywhere in there and it is driving me nuts that I don't have enough shelves for them. K is slowly getting wood to make a new one to house the kids' free reading books. I still need shelves for the textbooks.

The coolant overflow tank in my car is cracked and I had to order a new one. I can still drive my car I just have to check the coolant level before leaving the house. I bought the tank with the warranty and have to wait for it to arrive verses buying locally and no warranty. The mechanic we have been using to work on my car has 'replaced' the tank several times over the years and I was beginning to think they are ripping us off. Now I need the hood latch.

Returned to the clean up reorg work. Start of day looked like this.

Cleared the poker table and moved it from the kitchen area

Sorted the tools and supplies onto the relocated tables.

Tomorrow I will start digging into the corner.

My brother stopped in near the end of the day to swap his truck for the pick-up since he has a bearing going bad. I briefed him on where to find things if he needs things.

At the rate I am progressing I may be starting the wire work on Friday.

I do enjoy sorting ane organizing tools and supplies. With everything organized and easy to dibd it is like coming home from a spending spree at a hardware store but it doesn't cost a penny.

Went with Hubby on an install earlier. The sky might not be raining, but I was! Crazy. I usually do okay with heat but a month of teetering about the century mark must be wearing on me. I probably drank about a gallon of water and haven't gone to the bathroom. (Sorry if that kinda borders on the TMI line)

I like organizing for myself because I can keep it that way for a while. I despise organizing for others only to have stuff scattered in a short time.

I can't expect anyone to satisfy my urge to sort and organize. I have already shared the adventure of sorting 5 large garbage bags of legos for the granddaughters but I once took week vacation, set-up (4) 4x8 sheets of plywood on saw horses and sorted every fastener I had resulting in...

My father used to call it the hardware store across the street.

I would never expect another person to go that far.

Finished up with my entrance , culvert, creek backfill, last night about 8pm.
From Sunday morning to Tuesday night , got culvert back in place , got concrete wrapped around both ends, got 20 ton of gravel over culvert, packed and smooth.
2 days...sure pays to know people.😊

Gotta see a lawyer tomorrow to get the ball rolling on the farmhouse..

Picked blackberries today and went over to farmhouse to get some measuring for a garage.

Did some more cleanup down by the creek.

I'm beat.

We drove by Multnomah Falls which is beautiful.

I drove by there about 35 years ago. I have pictures, somewhere?

Had to drive to the big town for one thing! My phone kept giving me a weird message "no simm card, emergency calls only". So I had to drive 50+ miles, one way, to an AT&T store. The lady at the store put in a new simm card and didn't charge me anything. It improved my mood and fixed the phone.

Got some groceries on the way home, stopped by the produce store also, got a great watermelon (just cut it). I'm hoping the cantaloupe will be just as good. A great cantaloupe is a lot harder to pick out.

Ben, I wish I had you around these parts to help me organize stuff. I am absolutely terrible at organizing. My brain is always having 15 different trains of thought & I have a hard time deciding where to put things.

Went to the store with my brother. Was not moving well and an employee offered me a riding cart. I thanked him but declined. My brother was impatient at first but calmed down a little once he realized the trip was to get food that he had not been able to get for himself last time. I also needed a fridge thermometer. We got our stuff. Headed right home afterward & the sky opened up with rain just as we pulled up. Sat in the truck for a few minutes & waited for a lull in the rain so we could grab stuff and take it inside. Got home and cooked for Mom.

Home again. It feels really good to be back home. Nothing like that feeling.
Poor amish babysitter was covered head to toe in poison ivy and the english neighbor brought her into the bigger town to get a cortisone shot. I've been there, done that, with poison oak. Hearing stories from the kids, and now ready to go to bed

Drywall day, again. Making progress but it is slow, even though the measuring a cutting pieces for vents, light fixtures and outlets is going much faster with experience.
RAIN! We had rain today. Real, heavy, hour long rain. The ground is wet, but it wasn't enough to soak in so hopefully tomorrow will bring us round 2, even though the weather morons are predicting little chance of rain. But, it's monsoon season and usually once we get a decent rain the humidity builds up the next day as the water evaporates and by late afternoon the clouds form again. One can hope, actually everyone in the region is hoping the same thing.

Almost forgot, I recently started back to working part time again at Home Depot and today the merchandising team dismantled the seed display (probably to make room for Halloween crap or other stupid stuff) and they placed 3 shopping carts of seed packets in the break room for employees to pick from for free. A couple years ago they did this and every day I grabbed a handful or more. I wont fill a bag because others need a chance if they want (not many do) but I grabbed about 10 packs of various heirloom or organic veggies. Tomorrow I will do the same, maybe even more, and repeat every night after work. I still have a box full from 2 years ago, I didn't work last year due to the stupid mask mandate, but I will keep adding to my stash as long as they allow it. Usually after the first week the manager starts saying he wants them gone so that is when I start filling a bag.

What am I doing today?

Getting a new for rent sign made today. The old one isn't good. This is my first time handling something like this, but live and learn. The new one should have all the necessary info on it now. But I'll check again. And I'll ask for it to be smaller this time.

I'm finalizing a bill of materials for the bathroom projects. And I need to finish the final PDF document that I'll send to the client.

Other than that, I'm doing some ironing, some cleaning, I have one class today, and I need to plan my next excursion on my father's land.
And I need to check the hooks I asked for, for my pots; the metal worker guy and I keep missing each other. Not today! Hopefully...

Dad had a simpler method. Bolts went into one coffee can(s), nuts into another can and so forth.

Already walked--no dog walk today.
Will go out in a bit and kill ants all around the property.
Am baking a ham that has been in the deep freeze.
Will sweep house and dust.
Take eBay photos from the drafts I wrote yesterday.
Try to call the cable company again. They still were not taking calls yesterday.

Today is my Friday, I have been mapping out what I plan to do for the next 3 days... as usual I have about a weeks worth of work that needs to be done.... Tonight I will make a prioritized list to discuss with the wife, so I can make the best of the time I have....

Oh hey, Neb and Urban...remember Kansas Prepper on Mainstream? Years ago he lived in Lyon, KS. Drove through it today and thought of him. Doubt that he's there anymore, though, he was a minister, and was moved around every few years.
I think I am connected to him on Linkedin. Now if I could only remember his real name. I think it was his wife that was the minister.

I recently went looking for Wyzerman and I found something on Facebook that looked like it could be him. But because I don't do Facebook I couldn't go any farther. I think he would enjoy this forum if I could figure out how to message him.

Yes I know that method dump one can on the bench search for the bolt sweep them back in the can. Lather rinse repeat for the nut. If I cant find the nut start over again .

Faster to run to the hardware store and pay the premium for work someone else did to sort the fasteners.

Start in one corner and one thing in that corner. Put it where it goes. Return to the corner. Do the next thing. When the corner is done move clockwise around the room.

Completed the cleanup so I can install the outlets in the kitchen area.

Most of the lumber was stacked in the master bedroom.

I am going to have do with the left over lumber ranging from 2x4 through 2x12s.

Tomorrow I will start the wiring. The part of that work is it is less laborious and the basement in below ground level so it feel like working in air conditioning.

A little bit every day.

I'm currently sitting on what use to be my couch in what use to be a nice lounge room. I Use to have a laptop and a nice handbag. Nice sneakers and nice uggs. So you might be asking yourself what the heck happened.
Landshark busted the door on a heavy duty crate and went Ham.
I'm still finding piles of poop and puddles and I guess destroying my house and everything I own had a negative effect on her digestion because she threw up the pile of shoes she accumulated on the destroyed couch.
While I'm not going to I can actually see why people keep these dogs chained up out side or in a run.
