As most of you know I have back and feet problems and my work seems to exacerbate them. I have contacted my doctor and also done some acupuncture. I will state this: as far as the pain in my feet, the acupuncture has helped tremendously, although it has not helped my back. Now I talked to my doctor and they are sending me to a pain clinic so I can get off oxycodone which I have taken for over 6 years. They suggested that I try some cortisone shots to relieve the pain. The pain is in my lower back L-5 lumbar and S-1 vertebrae. I will admit I am somewhat reluctant about shots in my back as it is close to my spine and with my luck either they won't get the right spot OR they may accidentally hit my spine causing more problems. I would appreciate any feedback from those who have had cortisone shots in that area to ease my mind. Also last year I had a fungus in my mouth caused by GERD and it has come back. I went to a throat specialist and explained my situation. He said the fungus has returned due to the GERD and they are going to open my throat so I can swallow food that is too big to pass my esophogus. And I am taking medicine now and probably will have to for the rest of my life. I am not worried about this as much. August 10th is when they will clear out my airway. I am so tired of the hoarseness I have in my throat and people have to ask me to repeat what I say all the time. If I don't have this procedure done, it could, and I say could turn into throat cancer and I certainly don't want that.
If you have had any shots in your back such as I have to take, I would sure appreciate some feedback and your thoughts.
Take care to all and God bless,

Tommy

Husband has had shots in his back twice recently. He has a cyst in his lower back right near the nerve bundle in his spine. they can't remove the cyst. So twice now, three months apart, he has had the doctor remove some fluid near the cyst, and then add the steroid. He is higher than a kite the day they do it and his blood sugar shoots up pretty bad. He is diabetic. He still has back pain and can only walk short distances and very slowly, either using a cane or a walker. Don't know if the shots have helped or not.
One of my employees, a 70 yr old woman, had an injection in her spine last week. Her blood pressure went up too high, and stayed high for 4 days. She had a lot of pain during the injection, and thinks the doctor missed and hit some nerves. She just came back to work late last week, but is very weak.
So...some people it helps, some it does more harm, some it seems to not do much at all. I hope you find something that helps you.
