Archimedes Wind Turbine

I stumbled across this last night. A dutch company making home sized, "screw type" wind turbines.

Not an area I've researched so just throwing this out there... a short video and a pdf booklet with general info.

Hey, if it works, why NOT use it? The Dutch were once a great seafaring nation in the Age of Sail, and they still are to some extent (think oceangoing tugs here), so they know about wind...

Thank you for sharing this. I've been looking at wind generator ideas. Places like South Dakota used to have many of the classic windmills scattered through the countryside. I've been thinking that with the two is one and one is none concept, it would behoove us all to have some back ups to power.

That's a really interesting design, I for one would be pretty interested to see them in action here in the states.

On a side note though, looks like this is a South Korean company, not a Dutch company, at least as far as what their contact information on their sales brochure says.

The inventor is a dutch guy, 2003. In 2012 the operation, sales and manufacture were moved to South Korea. Cheap labor perhaps? Or problems with the EU?

I think it would be a perfect supplement to solar.
If you have storms, you have no sun, but lots of wind for a couple of days.

That makes more sense. Have you found out any information about US based dealers of them? I can't seem to find anything online.
