I guess I'm an overkill person! If I was doing you're project, I would use 2x6 rafters on 2' centers. Then use 2x4 on 2' centers for the lathe. (Lathe is what you fasten the metal roofing to.) Even with using trusses I put 2x4 lathes on 2' centers when using metal roofing.I used 1X at every24", when I put a metal roof on my house,

But here , the rafters are set 3 ft apart , and I lay the 2x4s at every 2 feet,
I feel that I need the strength here of 2x.

...We got the slot cut in the wall above the header , to slip the flashing in...
I was thinking about doing the same to my 30x40. How or what tool did you use to cut the steel siding for the flashing?
I was expecting to see a truck in there by the time I got to the last pic.
