Meadow is beautiful! Is that a moving blanket? Or just a regular blanket? Looks like a moving blanket I found at harbor freight.
It's a "poncho liner" for the military issued ponchos. Google "Woobie" when you are bored or can't sleep. That one is a knock off, the surplus one is old and faded.

Why? Because you can never have enough! IMG_1183.jpg

This house… just a few years ago, around this cemetery, there were beautiful oaks and hickories, 100Yrs old. As cemeteries go, a nice place.

About 10 years ago the property owner had the timber cut and then built this mansion on the hill. Ugly, not a flower or shrub planted around it. They didn’t even leave a single tree.

I finally heard the story behind this house. An old woman lost her only adult child suddenly. He is buried in this cemetery. (I know the family)

She had this house built so she’d be close to her kid. Only the stress of these events wrecked her health. Still lives in town with live-in care. She never moved. This huge house still sits empty on the barren hill, no one has ever moved into it…

I always thought this was the ugliest house for many miles. Now it's just ugly and sad.

Got the pump house/solar battery shed in yesterday. Beautiful day to be out working, smoke is dissipating and wasn’t too hot in the woods.
Should be able to move out on the property by next month. The well is in, just need the well pump.

Meet Bike. The empty days are so stupid long and lonely and roaming around the countryside on Bike is my therapy. No planned destination, just wandering wherever Bike feels like going. This pic is from a few weeks ago when we stopped at a roadside park with a flowing well. Not sure yet what I'll do when the snow comes and Bike wants to stay home.

That is why I never want to spend another winter up north! 3 winters in Buffalo, 2 in Chicago. Felt like I should have the post office hold my mail at the end of October and then sleep until May. Being cooped up all winter made me a little stir-crazy, actually a lot stir-crazy. 🤣 I don't do well inside for extended periods. I wish you luck with that... I never got the hang of it.

Reminds me of the immortal words of John Prine "Send my mouth way down south and kiss my a$* goodbye". I guess the trade off for mild winters are Hurricanes and heat in the summer. At least I can go outside year round instead of staring out the window at snow 5 months each year.

Yeah, what's that saying? I live where the air hurts my face? I'll take it. No floods, no hurricanes, no alligators, no spiders the size of my hand, just an occasional tornado to duck and the creepy-crawlies die off or hibernate much of the year. I've always loved the snuggle down -ber months, but that was before. Maybe I'll pick up a cheap quad or something so I can keep going when the roads get bad.

Sister in law's present.

Here it is wrapped next to the others. She cooks a lot, so I looked online and I got the best measuring set of spoons. I looked online and got the best measuring cups. I looked around, found the best set of knives, gaped at the price (nearly $1000) and got the second best set.

All the other gifts are for my nephew. My brother is starting a family so I'm only buying gifts for those three this Christmas.

Everyone else gets a copy of my book, "Meditations on scripture."
