@txcatlady
:huggs:By the time I make my post I have forgotten what all I've read. Sounds like you are having a rough time of it too.
@rice paddy daddy I hope everything stays in place.
@Bacpacker my girl has been coughing for days, she's finally feeling better. I guess it is just the holiday/seasonal virus. Hope your wife is doing 100% by Christmas.
Not all of my offspring will be here for Christmas, some are leaving, none are arriving, no little kids this time. It is just not feeling the same for me anymore. Didn't intend for it to be this way, just have found myself thinking about why we have Christmas instead and it has gotten to be too much for me to shop or handcraft things. As Gomer Pyle always said, surprise surprise. Experiences together are more important, creating time to spend with everyone throughout the year would be great.
I will still have any of the kids who are still around come over for lasagna.

A quiet day, mostly. Mom wasn’t too difficult despite dementia being in full force. Still have arrangements to make for care this week and acquire more equipment. Big item, a Hoyer hydraulic lift. Basically a medical grade ‘cherry picker’ (those who’ve swapped a car engine will know what it is). It’ll be helpful moving her when she can’t help. I’ll use it to move some furniture first. More space is needed in her bedroom, I have to get a dresser out.

Hopefully it’ll be a quiet night… we all need rest.

@rice paddy daddy glad everything is secure so far. Hang tight and enjoy the dry PJs.
@Peanut @txcatlady and @Amish Heart
I’ve got some serious prayers to send up for y’all. Take care of yourselves too! Amish, hope you two can get safely home soon. You’ll rest better at home.

Had a wedding reception to attend a couple we don’t know 😂. Long story but met them recently. We went and have to say for not knowing a soul, it was one of the best events I’ve been to since living here. Met folks we should already have known 🤪. Nice evening.
Tomorrow is Monday all over again.

Sorry about your husband, Txcatlady. That'd be a bummer. I bet he can't drive now.
Only locally and stays on back roads. Small town so not an issue. I take him to doctors or to see my mom as those are 50-65 miles away with stop lights and traffic. Primary and cardiologist appointments are this Friday. I did get summary of eye appointment to talk to both doctors about. Thankfully blood clot didn’t go to brain. It could have
I did tell him I would take him to church next Sunday. Hasn’t been in 2 years

Well, there's a positive, going to church. I spoke with my favorite cousin this afternoon, and she went to church for the first time in a long time. She's always had to stay home for her husband's care. She said it was hard going with just daughter and her family, but it was good. I do miss church, very rarely can husband go. It's been a long while. Was hoping to go Christmas eve, but won't be able to.

Slept in bc Mom and I both stayed up late last night. Mom's sugar was low 70s this morning so she didn't think taking insulin with her food was a good idea. Especially since she gave me a hard time figuring out what she could eat. Then after she ate it was mid 400s so she took insulin. Hoping the specialist can give better guidance on what doses to give for insulin and when. Supposed to be with food. We had her take insulin with food when her sugars was in mid 100s range but it dropped to 35 so we don't want it that low again. Also don't want it going over 200 if we can avoid it. Going to be tough getting her to change her diet more with how picky she is and how much she changes her mind about food.

My agenda for the week is mail pickup at post office + unloading truck on Monday. Mom's specialist appointment on Wednesday. Getting wheelbearing replaced on truck Thursday. And will need to get a bunch of stuff cleaned up on other days.

We are trying to get the wife's sugar numbers under control, she is having difficulties realizing that time delay and long lasting do not give instantaneous results. Last night I estimated what her insulin dose should be at 19:00 and she took a dose, she took another reading at 21:00 and took another dose.... she woke up while I was in the shower this morning and her numbers were in the mid 50s. I tried to explain to her that the insulin she is taking lasts for 8 hours so it is designed to slowly lower her sugar and that taking 2 doses close together is just like taking a big dose... her brain was too fuzzy to comprehend what I was trying to say... I think that she is discouraged and a little depressed, but she would never admit to being depressed (that's a bad thing that she can't have).

Trying to get someone else's diet, sugar, and schedules all under control is like juggling cats, you can expect to come out of it covered in scratches...

super windy out, wind warning still, but it stopped raining, so animals will go out for at least a few hours while we clean. Then they go back in since it is supposed to snow. We have weather like January already

Didn't get much done yesterday. I want to go swimming but don't want to drive during the wind warning, might have a tree fall on you. Not kidding, we have trees across the road all the time
Probably wait until tomorrow or wednesday. Won't take the dog for a walk in the woods either, he will just have to run around in the pasture for awhile

Amish, hope you get home safe, is your husband doing any better? That sounded very serious

Don't know why it happened, and not sure what'll be next.
What a scare! I read that he is improving a little. I hope today is even better! 3 different strains in his blood seems a lot. I am sorry you are going through this.
Wife woke up and her sugar was "low normal" so all is good.
I'm glad that is better! Hopefully no cold or other illness.
Thankfully blood clot didn’t go to brain.
That is a good thing! I'm sorry he is negative. That doesn't make anything easier.

I've been offline since early Friday morning. Walked every day. Company was wonderful and relaxing.
Back to real life today.
Will walk in a bit.
Laundry.
Phone calls to make about doctors.
Set up DH's pills for the month.
Fill out some legal paperwork.

I dropped a C-note on groceries. Liver and onion sandwiches with chili tonight!
They were out of bell peppers and the mushrooms looked nasty.

You said it was company you would enjoy, so glad you had a good weekend with them!!

I haven't been too active here lately. Been pretty busy with work and other things, going to bed around 8 and getting up at 0415 for the hour drive to work. It's weird to be back in my home territory working in the rail yard. To be honest, I'm not comfortable there any more. Most of the faces have changed and things are different. I have also discovered that I have zero talent for running a backhoe. I probably won't try to do that again.

So, I'm just waiting for the bigwigs to re-post the traveling gangs. That should happen in mid January if they are being truthful with us. Then I'll go back to being a road dawg again...

what does that mean exactlly? Poles will switch and the world will end? Or my internet will go out?
Our sun spit out a large mass of energy..its a common happening ..
Sometimes it releases enough energy to spawn the northern lights to be visible into lower latitudes than normal.
This happened a few days ago and it was projected to spark possible geomagnetic storms , not strong enough to shut down your internet or the grid but just strong enough to show off some pretty lights.

I'm having similar issues with Mom's sugar. It was over 430 last night. Very early (before sunrise) this morning I had the urge to go check on her. I walked in and she was sitting up reaching for the phone to page me. She was jittery & sweating. Sugar was 35. Got her something to raise her sugar right away. It was normal -- 116 this morning. She ate but I don't think she took insulin. Not sure how much she should take when her sugar was that good. She takes the Novelin 70/30. Her doctor said she should take half a dose (she normally takes 65 something) if her sugars are in the 100 range. Hopefully the diabetes expert on Wednesday will shed more light on it.

Someone wanted to take my brother's shift today for some reason so he was able to stay home instead of having to go in for a morning shift. I seized the opportunity to have him go with me to the tire shop and drop the truck off to get the wheelbearing replaced. They had told me to drop it off in the morning and pick it up before close in the evening. So, we go home and about an hour later they call to say its done. It took the Honda dealership 3 days to do it last time and they screwed up bigtime. Didn't install it properly AND damaged the CV axle. Charged something like $600 for it- and I had provided the wheelbearing. That was just the labor. Anyway, local tire shop charged $75 plus tax and fees for using credit card so it came out to just under $83. The truck no longer makes horrible noises when I turn the wheel, when I back up, when I brake, and when I drive. No more popping springs sounds. No more feeling tugging and weirdness. No more constant thudding. I hope this one doesn't slip out like the last one did. I trust these guys more than the Honda people at this point.

Grabbed mail and picked up beef stew from a local place-- it sells boudin, taso, and other stuff. Mom enjoyed it. She's currently watching TV and playing on her computer. Got the toaster my sister got me for Xmas. Also got a new voter registration card. That's like the 5th one they've sent me this year. They keep making changes. My voting location has changed from way out in the middle of nowhere to somewhere in town.

Cows were hollering at me a few minutes ago so I'll have to get some hay tomorrow.

Ordered Christmas gifts for little granddaughter so she has a Christmas. Daughter will be leaving to go back to Tucson on Wednesday night, working Thurs and Fri, then flying to Kansas to our place to be with her for Christmas. Looks like it'd take a miracle if we were there. Not sure what son is doing, he's in Kansas now, but not sure how long he can stay. Not much improvement here. Brought my laptop in this time.

I am hoping Mr @Amish Heart improves so that miracle happens!

Ah Amish ~ wish you weren't a million miles away. Is there anything you need? Will continue to pray for you and your family.

Thanks, Lady L. I just need not to be here. I don't like it here at all. I'm just mad, didn't want to come in the first place, and knew something bad would happen. BUT, little granddaughter will have Christmas. Have no clue what they'll cook...I was planning prime rib and turkey, but that's difficult. Husband is cheering up a bit, he's been very snarky. He is considering a bronch now, and the last one didn't end well. But it's his decision. The big thing now is the blood infection. He's on a new IV antibiotic.

so sorry you are still stuck there and husband still bad. I thought you would be on the way home now. That sucks, hope things improve and you make it home soon

No spam, I'm allergic to the stuff. something in the preservatives hits me like a bovine laxative!
I'm just kidding !! I am a fairly picky eater and there are a ton of things I don't like
Maybe you wouldn't like what I cook either. Do you eat red cabbage? That's what we had for lunch today , probably lot of people don't like it , husband had to get used to it
