Cabbage stew with pickled pork, blackened peas, pork roast in gravy, turnip greens, rice and corn bread muffins.

My version of cheese steak sandwiches, which was onions n mushrooms sautéed with the thin shaved meat all up in an iron skillet, and had to use Sharp cheddar cheese since that's all I had on hand tonight.. used hard/crispy bread loaf, so I made au jus on side to dip it in.. and potatoe salad. Not sure that goes together but had a hankering for homemade potatoe salad tonight...wasn't your typical Philly cheese steak combo..but wasn't bad!

I'm sure your chees steak was good. I cooked that yesterday, but no potatoe salad:(, had jalapeño kettle chips.
 
My wife was going to make Split Pea soup. I suggested the 2 lb bag of 14 bean soup mix we had.
I took one look at the liquid in with 2lb of dried beans and said that’s not right. She looked and her computations were off X4
Split into 3 pots added different peppers to each.
Second night added some canned chicken. So it’s half gone.
Needed a break tonight
So now I have to figure out how to make bean soup taste different for another 2 meals.
I am up to the challenge.

I watched bona petit episode this morning where they were making grilled cheese...different ones making different versions...one took so long I wanted to stick a fork in my eye watching her! Anyhoo....it reminded me I hadn't made grilled cheese sandwich in a while so I decided I wanted one. Made sandwich with sharp cheddar, sour dough bread slices, thinly sliced tomatoes and used mayo instead of butter on the bread...grilled up nicely and tasted pretty good...I was going to have soup on side, but too lazy and worn out to make any...fairly big sandwich, so it was enough to do.
 
Never once had anyone complain about the beans in my chili. But then I use pinto beans that are cooked until they aren't recognizable anymore.
This started out as as 14 bean soup mix. Unfortunately it had my least favorite food, Lima Beans. 🤮
Fava beans taste about the same but thinking about the Hannibal Lecter line made it amusing😀
 
Oh, you have NOT eaten the right kind of Lima Beans!
Had them 2 years in a row at MGM Grand in the conference area, so 4-5 star dining. 🤮 It was just as bad as the cans as a kid.
