House cleaning, laundry, need to make chili with meat and potato soup for tomorrow. Daughters and grandkids over tomorrow all day for Christmas cookie baking. Was up way too late emailing answers to questions back and forth to CPS California: what school would granddaughter attend in New Mexico, what visitation will you allow for her mom when you have guardianship, Will you be setting up a therapist for her when you have guardianship, what relationship do you have with her father, your son? These kept going till nearly 10 last night. Asked if we can just keep her when she flies in Dec 21 instead of waiting for her end of Jan courthearing that she does not need to attend, and they have not finalized that yet. Sending her back and forth has gotten pretty expensive. I think she's tired of it, too.

Ordered tactical pens for just about everyone in the extended family. Someone mentioned them in a post a while back and I finally got around to ordering some. If they get them after Christmas that is okay too.

What's special about tactical pens in general and the ones you ordered, just curious?

Time to put your foot down!

Wife would give me the broken and burnt cookies before she gave the rest away. I put an end to that.

I instituted a bake tax. I inspect the cookies as they move from the tray to the counter to cool. I randomly test a half a dozen or so for quality control. Once they pass my test 6 more on taken as a tax.

We've come a long way baby :sarcasm:. Now many kids are being raised by their grand parents.
One of mine has been raising her two g-sons since birth and now the other daughters kid got hooked on dentist prescribed pain pills. so she is where you are now with dumb judge who caters to kids. And family children services making their demands. It sounded like a nursery yesterday on the phone with her 3 grands running wild, 16monhs, 3 yr.s and 7. She got guardianship yesterday and judge told her to leave the 7 yr old in her school till after holidays!!! :eyeballs: thats 50 mils away, 200 mile round trip a day.:huh:so a kid can go to xamas party. Plus she has to load up and take all those kids and she is home schooling her 14yr old son.
Getting settled in will be a job. I told her to snatch the techtronics out of 14 yr old ears and make him help. Both daughters kids had a good home life.
She will soon be 50 so none on the way but this is what her house sounded like yesterday,those kids are one hot flasjh away from some real disapline.

Tactical pens are just regular ink pens that happen to be made out of strong metal. Nothing special about the ones I ordered. They are something that is useful in everyday life and can be carried everywhere. But if the need arises they can be used as an aid to get someone to release you or discourage them from hurting you. They are not great but better than nothing. The more viscous you are the better they will work.

Oh yeah, Meer...tell that grandma to get those rules going. There are a lot of us raising grandkids. We have a big posterboard of house rules in the hallway. Things like: be kind, pickup after yourself, get good grades, no lying, no tobacco, alcohol, drugs. We have "family meeting" today before supper. I know the twins had no responsibilities, manners, empathy...they were pretty feral before coming to live with us. Little granddaughter is going to have some issues, too. I think the hardest for all of them is understanding that they are a member of the family, we help each other. And husband and I are not their waitservants or wallets. There are chore lists and there is acceptable behavior and acceptable words to use in the house.
That being said, two other grandsons (their half bros) will be here making cookies tomorrow, and there will be a number of times I will pull them aside for a reprimand. Their momma and boyfriend don't reprimand them, mostly because momma is too busy on her phone or talking about herself, and boyfriend doesn't feel it's his job. I will enlist our youngest daughter to help. We will start the all day event with a box to collect the cell phones in from the under 18 crowd. Grandson that lives with us doesn't have a phone for the internet, and his brothers and him disappear outside to watch stuff they shouldn't be watching.
 
We are still unpacking from the recent move, decoration the house for the holidays AND packing our bags for the big Disney trip at Christmas. I have the girls' suitcases 90% packed for the trip. I just have underwear, socks and hair junk to pack up. Then I have to start packing my own bag. K is on his own. :p

My folks are watching our dogs for that week so I got a huge bag of their dog's food and chews for all the dogs for each day we are gone as compensation. Our dogs are going to be soooooo spoiled by my mom. She spoils her own dog so I figured is I provide everything for all of them she would be happier to watch them for the week.

The cats are staying here but we are setting up the house so they are good without us for the week. Fresh clean litterboxes, huge bowls of food and 2 large waterers that hold several gallons each. New catnip toys to put out before we leave.

Hello Grimm, where you been. I've been needing some make up advice.:). I Haven't robbed YouTube since our discussion, glad you flew in to let us know whats going on,J.K.:D with you.
What state or area did you move to. Take care.

Amish right now they are too young to read except the 7 y.o.. But even the 18 month old is still old enough to have some limits . The 3 year old who has been with them for awhile is acting jealous of her sibling's ,pulling hair , screaming at them,etc,.
I think in time she will get more control.
She has already spent about $100,000 on the daughter and her kids in last 3 years trying to get her off street drugs since dr.s stopped the pain pills. Cars,washers,dryers, dentist and all kinds of other things.

No you can't .I was fortunate and none of my kids ever did drugs or got into any trouble but a couple of my grand kids have. Guess 2 our of 13 ain't bad for theses days. But it sure causes a lot of pain for loved ones and them too .

We moved back to the mountain foothill community we lived in when Juju was born.

We had a hard time finding a house to rent. Not much on the market for rentals because of the holidays and people do not move until after the holidays. We looked at three houses. The first was way tooooo small. It had the right amount of rooms but not the square footage we really need. No real yard for the girls or the dogs and no space for our furniture at all!

The second was perfect. The issues we had were with the landlords. They wanted unlimited access to the house to inspect it whenever they wanted. Granted I understand wanting to protect your investment but you have to follow the law and in California the tenant is allowed 'quiet enjoyability' which means they can not invade our use of the house without just cause. Not to mention they wanted to leave the house dirty and damaged and have us sign a lease that forced us to vacate it in perfect condition.

The third house we rented sight unseen. I saw pictures and read reviews for the management company. They had several houses in the area but the one we ended up in was just perfect. I got to take a look at it the day after we signed the lease and it was better in person. Decent size yard, plenty of space in the rooms and the features we refused to settle on this time around. So far we are happy in this house.
 
Making grand daughter's Christmas gifts at least the ones I have patterns for or have figured out by looking at pictures.
Her daddy's lady's daughters don't share their toys.
They just buy 2 of everything in pink and purple.
By the way I really dislike "Frozen" Princess crap.
You guessed it.
I'm cutting out capes in light green satin and hunter green satin.
The light green cape will have irdscindent organiza (shiny,light reflective overlay) overlay.
The hunter green cape with matching dress with have fake diamonds and seed pearls hand sewn on.
Getting ready to sew the light green cape together now.
It's all cut out, pinned together etc.
Got her shiny silver tiara too.
Good thing got dress pattern and cape pattern I can use for Halloween too.
Got felt food cut out for her play kitchen, just need to stuff the sunny side up eggs, toast,pancakes.
Painting the wooden eggs tomorrow.
Son's lady kids are getting pillowcases for their beds, curtain valances.
I already have the fabric.
Still PO'd about the must have birthday list gifts that are in the closet on shelf, never played with.
Those gifts weren't even opened.

Sounds like you got lucky letting fate kind of decide by signing ' sight unseen'. With kids and dogs a yard is important . Glad you found a good place Grimm. :thumbs:
