We are under that heat dome as well. Its 115° here. Sheesh, I moved here because a hot summer is supposed to be 68°.

I finally had to break out a fan and now I have to start at 4 am to get anything done outside. Farmers are baling hay at night to avoid baler fires and spontaneous combustion in the hay bales is becoming a high risk.

We just have a dog and bunny, but rearrange them in the morning and evening so they will be cooler during the day. Musical critters. They need to start harvesting here too but I think many are just waiting it out a bit.

Boy does today feel like a waste!

I decided to print out the local building code because reading a pdf on a smart phone is painful and reading on a laptop my eyes cross.

As it was printing out I gathered the pages and punched them for a 3 ring binder.

While that was happening I tried to tinker a bit with a software package I used to be an expert at (LabVIEW). Wouldn't open saying I didn't have a valid license. Gave up that and sat down with the building code since that is far less frustrating.

Does make me count my blessings that I dont have deal with computers for a living.

I am starting a very long holiday weak end.... This afternoon the wife gets a hair cut, it is going to be about 98F so she will suffer in the process. This morning I picked up supplies for all my planed projects, mostly pipe fittings for my rain water collection.

Today, I hope to clean my old indoor gardening containers, they need to be clean before I can start moving into Winter 2021 gardening preps... ;)

My old homemade 6 qt hydroponic containers can be reused, but I want to clean them, repaint them with black and then cover that with white. I will be adding ports for 1/4" lines to add a sight glass (no windows), a water delivery line, and an overflow line. The old system used the Kratky Method but it had some issues for me, mostly because of the small containers I was using. My new attempt will be a variant of an ebb and flow/flood, where the water is normally below the basket, but when the pump runs the water level will rise to just over the bottom of the basket. Anyway, just because I wasn't successful the first time does not mean that I gave up....... I will document the build but will wait until I get results before posting to Garden 2021.

We are expecting rain 2 days from now and I want to have my rain barrels and water collection system fully functional before then, I don't need the distribution system working but I want to be able to catch what little rain we get....

I delayed today to watch a front move through. I live on top of a ridge and can watch the sky from the front deck. I love standing on the deck as the storms come in. The wind picks up and the air temp drops by 12 degrees in seconds. Then the rain chases me inside the porch as the rain changes from green to yellow and then red on the weather radar. With green I can still so the hill on the other side of the valley. Yellow. I can see just to the end of the street. Red and I am alone in the clouds.

When this band passes I should go to talk to the local code enforcement officer.

I don't know how to attach a radar on this computer, but there appears to be a 1 in 1000 yr. occurrence with a huge fireball (looking on radar) over northern WA and the Vancouver BC area. This is certainly not the norm especially for June.

Your cool weather is down here.

Work went some till lunch today, then one of my techs came and told me he had to leave, youngest daughter was headed to ER. He text later and said she is type 1 diabetic. Blood sugar was 755 when she got to ER. Please say a prayer for his family.

Picked a pint of blackberries and half pint of blueberries. Found first nearly ripe tomato, ut it had blossom end rot. Seems like my first few always do.

Went into town today. Midnight tonight, the mask mandates are changing to recommended from mandatory. I figured what the hay, its 115° and I am so done with the mask business. We went in to the grocery store sans masks. If covid can tell time we are pooched anyway.

No one said boo, but a few did fast 180's and skidaddled when they came up to us. The thing is, over 486 people literally have dropped dead in the last two days in this province, and it's either the heat wave and masks or something else causing the problem. No one is asking about vaccine status either and this province is supposed to be a vaccine mecca.

Putting the finishing edits on that book I wrote while on my walkabout. I decided to leave in the part where the Vid hit and it turned into a doomsday diary. actually I'm hoping some woke little ANTIFA commie reads it and gets offended about my opinions on Trump, all the "MOVEMENTS" of late, my thoughts on election stealing and the downward spiral of the common sense in the country.

"Rebel flag? what rebel flag? I'm an anarchist!" :p

Went to the oncologist for a post cancer check. All is good. Then went out to dinner with hubby.
fireworks going off in the neighborhood. My little Yorkie is about to have a heart attack out of fear. She is wearing a Thundershirt, had half a Benedryl snd a CBD calming dog treat. Doesn’t even seem to make a dent in her absolute fear.

@winds-of-change
I didn't want to get drugs for our dog but finally went ahead and called the vet. Our dog, about 50 lbs., gets worse with each time there is an event to celebrate (in Texas it can be anything). We even live in town but still the fireworks (or guns). She's ok with thunder. The vet prescribed an anti-anxiety med. We tried benedryl too, that lasts for 15-20 minutes.
I'll let ya know how it works out, haven't tried it yet. The day after every fireworks holiday (usually New Year's and July 4th) when I am out and about I see dogs dead by the roadways. They really spook out.
Reading up on how to help them get through it...the more ya comfort or fuss over them, the more they are going to think there's a reason to worry. Didn't realize that.
Good luck!

I watered the veggies.
Had a very early class this morning, then worked on an invoice. In about an hour I'll be going to see my brother to give him his belated father's day gift and catch up a little.
Then I need to go to the printer's to get an estimate on a sign.
After that, I'm stopping by the bakery to get some bread. And then I'm home for the rest of the day and working. It's a quiet day.

Got home from wife's appointment early in the evening, both of us were wiped out and we did carryout cause no one was up to cooking... not good, I expect that the wife will now be sick for a couple of days due to the salt in the food.....

Just after we ate a quick rainstorm rolled by, it was just enough water to mess up what I had been doing earlier in the day....

This morning I have a dentist appointment, they will remove some stitches and take an impression, my impression is this will cost me a grand.... I hope he likes his new car....

Been watching the great battery thread ( The great battery thread ), it made me do a little studying on battery pack arrangements. It makes me feel blessed that most of my stuff is simple old school (because I'm cheap), all my stuff is 110 Volts under 2000 watts but there are there are times when I daydream of a 240 volt system. Lots there to digest.

3rd doctor apt in 3 days. Trying to find pain relief so I can sleep. 3-4 hours a night for the last several months is all I have been getting. Most pain meds are off limits because I have kidney disease.

Ran over to WMart to get some stuff for the wife, and a couple flats of water.... While I was there I went over to the sporting goods section. They had some shotgun shells, a box of 25-06 and a box of 45-70, that caught my eye it was $32....

It is hot so I best get to working

Poor thing, I used to have a dog that needed doggie Valium on firecracker holidays.

@Patchouli , what anti anxiety med did the vet prescribe?

Yesterday, I walked first, fed dogs.
Then off to Walmart for monthly stock up. Went pretty well except prices are certainly up! Only thing they were out of was my turkey beef type sticks. None of them available. Stocked up on canned veggies pretty good.
Came home and put almost everything away, then went for haircut and picked up my thyroid prescription.
Cooked up a bunch of bell peppers, onions, jalapenos and garlic with turkey sausage for breakfasts.

This morning, walked first, then fed and walked dogs.
Paid bills.
Cleaned and swept shed and did some rearranging.
Scrambled 2 dozen eggs as now DH wants them instead of cereal for breakfasts.
Now, trying to catch up on this site.

A couple of neighbors were trying to remove a concrete stoop using a sledgehammer. I fetched my jackhammer so they are forced to do it by hand.

After running some errands I talked to the code enforcement officer about what I need to do to put up a shed legally. Turns out the house on the property was built in the 50s and there was no survey on record. So now I will have to get a surveyor involved.

The rain is not conducive for digging so that will have to wait for tomorrow.

Cleaned the stock tank. One of the cows missed the ground while he was goin poo and there was a big mess. Drained, cleaned and now I'm filling it as I watch a storm come in. Pups not happy cause we're sitting on the truck incase of lightening.

@snappy1 it is Trazodone Hydrochloride. 100 mg.
Give 1 1/4- 1 1/2 tablets at least 2-3 hours before stressful event. Not to exceed more than 3 caplets in a 24 hr. period. She weighs about 50 lbs, a little smaller than a German Shepherd in height.
Have you given it to your dogs? Do fireworks stress your dogs out too?

Today, has not gone according to plan. Dr. changed my appointment time (moved it up an hour).... Then after I ran the errands, I started getting ready to paint my hydroponic containers, but a thunder storm put an end to that. So I started working in the house cleaning in the basement and lightning hit a nearby power pole putting the area I was working at in the dark...

Well, my computer still works and the wife can still watch TV so it's not a complete loss. :)
