Prepping for the upcoming 9-12 inch snowstorm tomm. Hoping we dont loose power but generator test runs will be done today. Quick storm starting 5am and over by 2pm. Some house cleaning and bring a little more wood in. Enjoyed the warm dry weather we just had. Even today it will be close to 50 and sunny.
Just found out about that storm. Funny, I listened to the weather all weekend and they never spoke of it. Supposed to get 7-10 inches. My blueberries just started putting on leaf buds. Think I'll cover them--hoping I don't lose them.

Little granddaughter doesn't have school today, but neighbor girl does, so I'll be bringing her. Husband has a doc appt late morning, so we'll be doing that late morning. Little granddaughter needs tennis shoes, so we'll go to Walmart across from the doc's office after the appt. Warmer today, so maybe I'll get to the tree branch this afternoon.

Finally... I am really recovering from the Chinese koff, koff.
It has taken six weeks to get past the on again, off again for a cupla days merry go round .
Three weeks ago while visiting a Dr who admitted that the virus I had really did not respond to anything, but the basic home otc meds will help relieve the symptoms.
He did surprise me when he asked if I had received any of Vaxx and I told him NO!
He said ... Good, your recovery bill take a few more weeks but it will be better going this route because your natural immunity will be much stronger
He prescribed a dose of horse pill antibiotic and a steroids to mitigate the secondary infection risk.
I am glad to feel like I am among the living again.

Hubby and I went skiing ⛷️ today. It was my first real day of the year. The first day we went, we only got 3 runs in. I will probably be feeling my legs tomorrow. It snowed on us a fair part of the morning but warmed up to the point the snow was melting by the afternoon 😕. We need more snow ❄️
good for you! Jealous...but even if I could still ski, there is no snow here this year

I know what I am not doing today: cleaning the barn. My hand, wrist , thumb hurt from overuse. It happens occasionally , I am old LOL. Been doing most of the cleaning ( holding a poop scoop or pitch fork) and I can do it most of the time, but with 3 bad weather days in a row it must have gotten too much. So husband will have to do that today AND push the wheelbarrow ( that's usually his job).
It will be ok in a few days , usually is

So today I will do "light" duty , plant some lettuce seeds, get some photos together to make photo album for daughter. Cook and maybe clean the bedroom

I'll post the recipe in a day or two. I keep my cookies plain. I do use fresh ginger that I dehydrated and ground, myself. It's got way more taste than the store bought powder.

Right now, I am trying to relearn how to make and roll dumpling wraps. It takes practice to get efficient at rolling those out.
Impressed! I make a lot of stuff from scratch, including dumplings, but the wraps I buy premade at the Asian store
Never dried and ground ginger either ( I just use fresh) , I do grow it

Well, I have my tax info all out on the table, but so far lack the attitude necessary to get it done. Being retired, it should be easy, but every year becomes more complicated, especially the state forms.

I tried to send a supporting membership to this forum, but I had to use a friends PayPal and this forum is an automatic renewing membership. That is a no no for my friend, so that attempt failed. Is there any way I can send it as a one time payment by the year without auto deductions every year?

It is hard to believe that Feb. is almost half gone.

Sonya, I hope your hand/wrist/thumb all get better soon.

Hmm... Need to get a printer for the taxes. Want to find something simple that doesn't have ink dry up and that doesn't want to constantly connect to the internet and report my printing history to the manufacturer (so no HP printers).

I don't know if its the meds or bc I'm sick or both but I've been extremely thirsty so I've been drinking a ton of water. Unfortunately, its going through me so fast. I couldn't sleep well last night because I had to keep getting up to pee. Every 10 to 50 minutes it seemed. Still going on this morning too.

My sinus headache just went away. Naprosyn must be kicking in. Going to rest until its time to take my brother to DMV to renew his license.

We use Canons. Have an MX 922 right now. Second Canon in about 12 years. No HP's for us either. Ink is reasonable (especially on ebay) and it is wifi'd to my laptop. We've had this one at least 7 years.

I use gatorade zero. No sugar but still balances my system. It does have colors, though.

Walked fairly early.
Set up DH's pills for the month.
Did 2 loads of laundry.
Called and set appt. with accountant.
Still need to spray weeds at bottom of back porch.
Vacuum out cars.
I'm glad I am more than halfway done already!

More coffee, had a bit of a failure with the whole procrastination plan, But now my log forwarder is unloaded

I have just sent you a PM about a couple of option on how to do this. Thank you so much for wanting to be a Supporting member.

Snappy, thanks for the recommendation. I don't really like gatorade but I got some sort of sugar free electrolyte drink for mom that she didn't drink so I might drink some of it. I could not get into a good sleep last night with how much I had to keep getting up. LOL.

I took my brother to the DMV to renew his license but he failed the vision test. His glasses broke and he apparently needs them to see better. His blood sugar has probably been affecting his vision. Local eye clinic apparently shut down so he tried calling various clinics in Alexandria. Finally found one that takes his insurance and can see him tomorrow.

Cooked for Mom, cleaned up some trash, and am about to take another nap.

Husband to the doctor this morning, and little granddaughter to Walmart for tennis shoes and t shirts. Met a 90 yr old in line with us on a scooter, and he was shopping. He said his grandson was on a walking trail, and a lady rode by on her bike, and he yelled, "Cow". She stopped, turned around, yelled at him at flipped him off. Then she rode her bike in to a cow. He was a hoot. Just talking care of husband this afternoon, and little granddaughter and I got the tree branch done. Battery went out on the sawsall, and I can't get the old one off of it to put on the newly charged one. I'll have to think about it a bit. It's stuck. Time to work on my mending pile. Little granddaughter is making chocolate popcorn to bring to a school party tomorrow.

Not that you want it to get better fast if it gets you out of work ;) but might try a tepid Epsom salts soak for your hand/wrist. Soaks the sore out.

Might try Pedialyte then. You know you're sick when it tastes okay or even good. Try it when you are healthy and bleck!

Heehee - forgot to mention yesterday met a lovely gentleman on one of the chairlift rides. He spoke with an accent so asked where he was from. NW France but lives over here. His wife is from over here but they speak French at home. He said when he first moved over here, he went to work in construction and that's where he first learned English 😂 Then he said of course not speaking any English at first they would tell him something and he didn't understand. Go get a 2 by 4. He said he understood "go" and a tuba is an instrument but what is it's use in construction. Then he said once he learned what that meant, he had his tape measure and they weren't 2" or 4" in addition to not being in metric, they were wrong in standard. He said he had to go and ask his then girlfriend (now wife of 54 years) what SOB was because that's what they were calling him. She didn't want to answer him. He was a hoot.

Larger batteries will stick in my weed wacker.

Depress and hold the release button
Insert a flat blade screw driver in the gap at the other end of the battery.
Twist the screw driver.
You may have to wiggle the battery a bit.

Ben

Edit
The screw driver trick works for the weed wacker but not the sawsall.

For the sawsall try to hold handle and push battery with thumb.

Chinese dumplings? Do share how you do those as well, please.

I do them badly. Twenty five years ago, I could do them fast and furious. Now, I have to start from scratch and my co ordination sucks.

The dough is just flour and water so it's OK to waste some trying to get the consistency and rolling technique down. Just think of it as remedial kindergarten.

Every time I move, I have to re learn any recipes that use flour. Flour is different everywhere and also has more or less moisture in it in every new location. Here, I need to figure out how much less to use.

Dumpling filling is easy. It can be anything you like, but make sure it's not too wet. The hard part is keeping it on the wrap while you pleat them.

Example: sourkrout and pork with a bit of grated carrot is interesting. I can't get the traditional Chinese veggies here.

Afternoon coffee, processed 2 racks of firewood, but ran the power unit out of gas, so that ate up about an hour,

this won't make much sense without Amish Heart's part, but I read sawmill, and I was guessing automotive type battery, and was really wondering how a weed whacker would help with that.
