Moving the snowblower up to the barn. Never thought I'd be putting it away in February. Didn't need the tracks on the side by side this winter either.

Got a flat tire on my way into town. Fortunately, I have an automatic air pump that you can set the desired pressure and it will shut off when it hits that so I hooked that up and looked at where I had stopped. Sky was very blue and water was running along in the ditch like a stream.

Spent the day at fiddle fest, had a wonderful time! Just some random shots of people I picked with today. These little groups of pickers spontaneously happen. People play for a bit, some might leave, others take their place. I picked with about 20 different people while there. I played 2hrs before lunch, 3hrs after lunch. My poor fingers are throbbing a bit this evening.
First pic… check out the little kid with the banjo. It was bigger than he was! But he could play, he was amazing. Been years since I’ve seen a kid that young who could play that well. For the contests on stage there was no junior group of banjo pickers. This kid competed against the adults and won 2nd place! And there were several good banjo pickers there! He took home $250, not bad for a 10yr old!
Oh, only one complaint, same as last year. This building has the worst acoustics imaginable. It’s a junior college, maybe materials designed to reduce sounds? Instead of being able to hear the music clearly it turns into a muffled roar. It’s like playing inside a metal drum.
Still, it's a great way to spend the day, got to pick with folks i haven't seen since last summer on the mountain.

I want one of those pumps! I have a tire that is kind of weird. It will slowly start to leak, over many days. I fill it up, and it is good for months, holding air. Then it starts the slow leak again.
Moon over the job yesterday morning. Seems like I’m always the first one to work. I remember those old bastards like that when I was a kid.

This is the one I have. It also jumpstarts. We got one for my friend. He uses the jumpstart frequently. I use the tire inflator and love it. It's compact, usb charges so you don't have to plug it in to the vehicle while in use. Uses USB C type to charge. I've had to air up all 4 tires in the past few months.

Peanut.... In your pictures I see several -F- style mandolins.. I had an old -A- style Gibson I tortured a bit.. My trick was to sit next to someone loud and no one noticed my clinkers...
Went to a winter jam at a local hotel once.. For 3 days of non stop jams in every place there could fit 4-5 folding chairs.. Two of the best were a family of 4 stair step teen aged girls that played and they all could yodel.. The other was a group of 3-6 or so women that played and sang a harmony that was out of sight.. Only got maybe 5 hours sleep from Friday night to Sunday afternoon... Was a great time..

I have the one below. These are usually on sale for about half price around Black Friday (I paid $49 for mine last November). The good thing about them is the lifetime free parts and service, should it ever break on you. You can buy an (optional) lithium battery to power it, but the way it comes you just plug it into your cigarette lighter. I see no reason for a separate battery. How often does your car have both a flat tire AND a dead battery at the same time?!

I have a shop full of DeWalt 20v tools so I bought a 20v DeWalt air inflator.

F styles are more popular here in the south, sort of a status symbol i guess. I never cared which style, the sound was important. I've heard some great sounding A styles.
I met this guy last summer on the mtn, had a A style. The amazing part... look at the index finger of his left hand. Half of it is missing! Yet he played great! I kept staring, not to be rude, just fascinated as to how he could play so well missing such an important finger.

Yes... My Gibson -A- style had that -F- style sound holes instead of just a round or oval sound hole.. I couldn't tell the difference, but some people say it makes a difference.. I still have all my fingers, they just don't work well enough to do even 2 finger chords anymore.. I gave the instrument to a young person who could do much more with it than I ever could..
@Tim Horton I quit playing about 8yrs ago, lots of good reasons. I decided to pick it up again aug of 22. Sort of a last hoo-ra, already have arthritis in both hands. Been thinking for a long time about where my guitar goes when i stop for good. Only people i'd trust it to are my age! That's not going to work...

That pic of the "Tail of the Dragon" reminds me of a similar road.

Although Hana is only about 52 miles (84 km) from Kahului, an uninterrupted car-trip takes about 2.5 hours to drive, since the highway is very winding, narrow, and passes over 59 bridges, of which 46 are only one lane wide.[6] There are approximately 620 curves along Route 360 from just east of Kahului to Hana
It's an absolutely stunning place. Glad we had a driver so we could enjoy the scenery.
