Women have come a long way in this world; well, in America, especially. Although ladies can pretty much hop in their car, get a job, have a drink, and do whatever else they please, this was not always the case. Although you might be familiar with the fact that women had to fight for their rights, you probably don’t realize how many basic things females were denied. (White) Men, on the other hand, were not rejected from these same primary benefits. Luckily, times have changed, but some even in the 21st century, ladies still struggle for equal pay — something that has been a fight for decades. Keep reading to learn all about 40 shocking things women could not do until the 1970s.

There are more details in the article. These are just the bullet points. Some of these don't make sense to me, especially the last few. They should have made the article with fewer points, IMHO

Not all of this was true. In some respects we jumped from the frying pan into the fire.
We did need some changes but think we went ovebroard.

I do think that teachers who were one of the most impotant jobs and benefitted all of society should have always had maternity leave. But not all employers should have taken up the slack of the families responsibility.

Some things on that list are historically accurate, others sound like they were written by someone from Lifetime television. Where revisionist history comes alive in the form of TV movies. I watched a Lifetime movie with a girlfriend in the 1990's where a husband was hitting his wife and the local police were like "oh well, nothing we can do because he is your husband". I asked my Mom about it as she was a deputy sheriff in the 1970's & 1980's and she laughed calling it ridiculous.

My favorite from the list is 16. That benefits no one. Male or female. It just wastes money and results in being unemployed.
