I fed my bees some pollen today. I’ve been feeding them for about a month. I hope this hive makes it and the queen is still alive. My other hive died during the severe cold spell a few weeks ago.:(

If the queen dies won't they raise another one?

I REALLY want to have a hive here on the ranch.
Hope they survive and all is well. Sorry about your other hive. That’s a bummer

We have a bee keeper about half mile down our road. At times the bees get stuck under our greenhouse roof. We do all we can to get them in the net and free them. We keep a net by the door just for bees and butterfly. Take butterfly caterpillers out to woods when they are feasting on our plants. My great grandkid likes all kinds of bugs. We bought him a butterfly kit. They all died.

Had VA doctor appointments today.
Vampires finally got their 10 tubes of blood.
Only tried 4 different times.
Got my x-rays on both knees done.
Blood pressure good
A1C's were great 5.5
Lost some weight not nearly enough.
Crappy weather, icy sleet.
Home before noon.

There is a new treatment for knees now forgot what it is but no surgery. Something they insert with needle that grows new cartarage.'spl'
My knees go out sometimes, use my hubbys walker for awhile. Very painful if I don't get off them.

I talked to my primary care doctor about that procedure today.
She didn't think the Orthepedic Surgeon would do it.
But she forwarded the information to the Ortho Clinic and Surgeons.
Haven't heard back yet.
My left side has gotten weak for some reason.
From my left shoulder down to finger tips go numb.
Left knee, angle,hip weak.
Did physical therapy on left side today.

I had a honey bee swarm last year. There were thousands. They swarmed into a hole in a tree for over 45 minutes.
I called the bee guy that tried the year before but nobody responded.
All the bees were gone the next day.
It was strange that the bees have swarmed to the same hole in the same tree both times.
Guess they knew where they were going.

I still get cortisone shots every 3 months in both knees. The Dr already said, my knees are shot and will require replacement, but insurance requires certain steps first. I have a friend who got the cartilage pad thingy injected and is doing wonderfully with it.

A good spot to spend the night before continuing their journey would be recognized by other bees as well. I’m sure you’ll see other swarms in that tree, only natural.

I’d set up a hive and try to catch them. I know where several bee trees are. My plan was to capture some of the swarms last year but I was pretty sick for much of the year. I did manage to catch one of my hives swarming though. It’s the hive that froze.

That numb is nothing to ignore. It could be nerve damage but tell your dr about it. Just always research anything they tell you. Hope all is well with you soon.

Good to hear about cartilage pad. I'll have to ask next time I go after flu season of course. I wouldn't go near that place now without hazmet suit.

Here is the swarm I caught. They swarmed onto my elderberry bush. I put a hive on a barrel directly underneath, used smoke to calm them. I put on my gloves and gently pulled them off the bush into the hive. I rarely use a veil anymore, depends on what I’m doing.

Looks :great:. Wish I could take on another job I'd try bees.

For those of you who don't get the above joke about the other "Lovelace" ;)

From wikipathica
Linda Susan Boreman, more commonly referred to by her onetime stage name Linda Lovelace, was an American pornographic actress famous for her performance in the 1972 hardcore porn film Deep Throat.

I thought you guys were talking about the rockhopper penguin from Happy Feet played by Robin Williams...

Shows how innocent my mind is.

Ended up in the ED this morning.
*sigh*
I went to shut a window, tripped over my walking stick and put my hand through the glass window I was wanting to shut.
I got deep cuts but because of my bad reactions to LA and GA and steri strips won't adhere to my skin so they swaddled my hand in bandages and gauze.

It could have been a lot worse.
Praise GOD and my guardian angel has applied for stress leave and won't return my calls.

OMG! Did you need stiches? Is there anyone helping you at home? :eyeballs:

I need stitches but I have bad reactions to pain control to get the stitches and stick on stitches won't stick so that defeats their purpose.
That leaves gauze and bandages and keeping the hand still for 5 days so the wound can knit without pulling open.\It's not ideal but it's the best they can do.
I live by myself and I look upon this things as a mental challenge.
I out think the problem and come up with workable solutions.
The more it pushes the more I shove back.

I need stitches

Plantago lanceolata… common name is English plantain. It will speed the healing and pull out any infection from your cuts. It’s native to England and the English took it everywhere they went, even Australia. Here it grows everywhere. I see it in the cracks of side walks in the town near me. It grows by the road in front of my house.

Over 2000 years ago a man named Hippocrates in ancient Greece wrote about this plant. He was the father of modern medicine, doctors take a Hippocratic Oath to this very day. Hippocrates used this plant to heal the blisters caused by the shingles virus (Varicella-zoster) and wrote about it. His writings survive to this day. I use this plant often, even used it once to heal a Brown-recluse spider bite. Look into it, you can probably see it from your window, that’s how common it is… It grows everywhere!

Google the latin name and click images… you will see hundreds of photos of it. :)
