Been cooking and doing laundry
Also been outside because of the gorgeous weather we're having. Just can't pass up the chance to sit outside and enjoy it
Put a bug in the hubby's ear about moving the greenhouse. lol Has him thinking about it hard
Hubby is watching war movies and I'm reading since all my "chores" are done lol

Went up the mountain and mowed. Big plums still aren't ready but picked a couple more cups of blackberries for Mom. Loaded the trailer (by myself today) and the bronco full of stuff - which will all go in the yard sale. Probably have 1 more load and planning yard sale for weekend after Labor Day. Made it home. Baked a batch of Speculas which I love and haven't made in years. Also have a double batch of oatmeal monsters all mixed up and getting things together to make a batch or two of pink plum jelly. Need to run and trade hubby car for pickup as I'm making a run to Loonieville tomorrow morning so we'll both need pickups.

Been watching cooking shows off and on all day.
Then went to their website printed off several of the free recipes to try in the next few days.
Strawberry and I have been outside several times today, between rain showers.
She and I played tag for about an half hour, came inside dried our feet.
Both went to sleep in recliner.
Nice relaxing day.

My youngest grandson came over and picked 8 Walmart bags full of Pears.
Bartlet pears are perfect for picking, so I took them to church to see if any of the folks wanted them...they were snstched up by 4-5 of our elderly ladies in 10 minutes.:)

Couldn't even tell any were picked off my 2 trees.

Will take more for them , rather than feed the deer.

Jim,
You going to freeze any? Make pear butter?

Honestly , we aren't physically able to do anything with them this year.
Biggest crop we ever had. Go figure.

But we only use them to make preserves.

Wife says she may make a small batch of preserves.

I'll talk be to her about freezing some.
The trees are actually breaking down.

What's wrong with deer food?
If they fall from trees, they can't accuse you of 'baiting':).
A handful of pears in exchange for 100lbs of healthy lean meat?
What's wrong with that?

One year, they fell from the trees , and rolled to the back of the property by the edge of the woods, about 100 yards from my deer stand...:dunno:

Ahh I never thought I would say it but it is a true blessing to open up your mouth properly, something I took for granted before I started this cancer treatment. With the aid of lashings of moisturiser I can now eat without disassembling everything in layers :). I have lost 4.5kg in weight and that is with clothing on so probably more probably to do with using the cream, adjusting more to a more low cholesterol diet and the effects of the thyroid issues but I am still chunky compared to when I was 48 kg but a kilo underweight according to lowest weight recommendations for my height.

DH started off the morning with sharpening the chainsaw and cutting fallen ironbark branches at the back boundary of the property but he still has more to go. Coming up to spring and summer here it is best to clear all undergrowth and branches before it gets hot. DH estimates there will be about 2 more cubic metres of firewood to add to our firewood pile and it is seasoned and dried too which is a bonus. DH wouldn't let me help until I can start using sunscreen when my face is cleared up more so I did my own manicure and moisturised my face and snuck out with a hat and used the grey water pumped from the tank to water the calla lilies, spider plants and half of the hot shot canna lilies.

I then popped on a load of washing as it was cloudy and hung it on the clothes line to dry with a big hat on.

Tonight's dinner will be soup and bread rolls with butter.

Nothing.
Just hate to think of the waste is all.
I pretty sure there is probably enough for both.

peeling apples for the dehydrator.
Will have several trays.
Also putting peels on there too.
Then oranges will be next.
Along with rinds minus the pith.
Will be zesting some of the orange peels, candied peels too.
Candied peels for Christmas candy this year.
Will be having grand daughter from noon to 1730 hours.
Thunderstorms right now.

Nothing.

If you read between the lines of Phideaux's post, they did not go to waste.

Think of it this way: you plant pears, and venison grows:D.

No apples went into dehydrator, all apples had several bites out of them.
So will be making apple pie instead.
Grand daughter strikes again.
Red onions, green peppers in dehydrator now.
1 load of laundry in dryer now.
1 load of jeans waiting to go into dryer.
Hung up damp t- shirts on hangers to dry in bathroom.
All in all good day.

Clearly she believes in 100% 'quality-control sampling':D.
That made my day:huggs:

Today we went into town for DH's psychologist appointment and it went well and he seems to be able to handle being in crowds of people a little more but he still turns white and shakes and reacts badly to loud noises. Still it is a big improvement that he handled the crowds at the weekend at the RSL club function and stepped outside a few times for air and helped over a few days. I am not expecting he will ever be rid of his PTSD but even small improvements are great to see as she has been giving him a lot of coping mechanisms to work with.

I also had some blood taken at the pathology to test the level of the thyroid medications I have been taking and whether they have to adjust the levels up or down and the beta blockers seem to be working to control my heartbeat and I am feeling a bit better. Better still they found a vein first time and my arm isn't swollen like a soccer ball, I have difficult veins to find. My eyes still look like puffer fish and my face like someone accidentally put me in a microwave but my energy levels are improving and now I just need to gain some more weight back again.

Next we went to a small supermarket and topped up on 4 packets of clearance bread rolls. Next we went to the op shop where I picked up a brand new pair of work jeans and jeans with tags still attached, another pair of near new jeans, a wool jacket, a tracksuit top and a pair of near new cotton capri pants all for $5 bargain. The new 50+ UV treated pants alone are $50 - $65 a pair and jeans for me are $19 - $25 a pair new so for 0.83c each they were a steal. They also had a trolley of red capsicums they were giving away so we picked 4 nice big ones to chop up for the freezer.

Last of all we had lunch/dinner in town as they had $5 pizzas so we purchased 2 small pizzas.

Packing and getting things ship-shape here because tomorrow we are leaving for Colorado again. One of our kids needs some additional free manual labor at his place.

The elk have started bugling here and I listened to them this morning while drinking my coffee.

:huggs:Sewing I'm thinking of upping my date to start my treatment.
I just looked for that moisturizer that is suppose to help alot with itching, burning and pain. I can't find it now. Anyway hope you heals fast.
I'm not doing mine all at once though.

Just got out of one meeting and now I am wasting time until my next meeting begins. Then I have a lunch date with my beloved, and then it's back for more meetings. That's pretty much my entire work day on Tuesdays. Meetings. Or should I say meetings that could have been emails or letters.

I wish the state would pay me per meeting instead of a salary, I would make a lot more money.
