Son and DIL are here for two nights. We closed the windows, turned on the heat and warmed the place up to 18°C. I put flannel sheets and two heavy quilts on the bed to keep them from freezing to death.

That's my daughter...Florida girl there. We have to put a space heater in the bedroom when she visits or she "freezes"

My should still hurts so I still can't do too much. Did deworm the billies yesterday before we start breeding them. They weren't bad but they forget to eat and it's hard on them when they see girls so we deworm them before even if not totally necessary. I also had some mixed dewormed left that was about to expire and is no longer available, which really sucks. Not sure yet what to do about this next year.
Today I want to clean the house. We have one market left this year and I want my kitchen to be clean before baking this week.
Garden is finished , it froze 2 nights in a row and my remaining plants are inside in pots

Good morning! Will walk first.
Order curtains. Yay!
Dehydrate potato slices.
Harvest what little there is and pull up another okra plant.
Follow up doc appointment. May ask for x-ray for left shoulder, neck and hip. My knee is almost completely healed and ribs too. A lot of pain in above mentioned parts that started the day after first doc appointment.
Next, make muffins and/ or cookies.

Another weekend just flew by, but it was a pretty good one. I got a pen for my new chicks 90% done, which is great because they are getting way too big for the brooder, hopefully finish it up after work today. CAL-Ranch cancelled their immunization clinic on Saturday, so I bit the bullet and fingered out how to administer the vaccines to our puppies ourselves. It was super easy, and the raw vaccines were $15 as opposed to $90 when administered by a vet, I can't see not doing it myself ever again.

The main reason for a vet to give the shots, is if you need to partake of a kennel or pets with medical issues.

I don't give my animals vaccines. I would give rabies if there was an outbreak, but that's it. All my pets have lived to a ripe old age problem free. I don't deworm either. I do fecal counts to see if deworming is necessary.

Hey, Spikedriver, wasn't there a film titled 'USED CARS' with... um... Kurt Russell? I can see YOU as the guy who took the old man for a test drive, lol.

I remember there were some hot women in that film... unless I'm confusing it with another flick.

Anyway, I'm moving very slowly today, all that excitement yesterday kept me up late last night... but that's okay, at least I managed to get the loaded trash bin out to the street on time. ;)

Just gonna go easy today and share quality time with the cats & kittens... they're like family to me, so they get the royal treatment, lol. Here's a pic of Z-Girl & Black Diamond napping next to me and the laptop computer:

Stuck at work today but at least the morning went by quickly. It unseasonably warm here and should be all week.

Yesterday morning the temp was 29F when I got up early and probably still in the 30s when we launched the boat to go fishing around 8am. Fished around for about an hour then our buddy texted that he was there so we went back to the ramp and picked him up. Was out of the water for 8 hours, the sun was warm but the wind was cold, there were gust upwards of 20 mph. Didn't get any trout unfortunately (it always seems to work out that way, when I bring a cooler for them, we don't catch them but when I don't, they're everywhere) but we did get some bass, both largies and smallies. It was a good day.

Not sure how many more times we'll be able to get the boat out this year, we're going to have some work done on it and then need to wrap it up before the snow flies. There's a guy in town who works on boats and said he'd come to our house. We need an electric trim installed for the motor and I'm trying to talk DH into biting the bullet and buying the new trolling motor we want. I figure if we spend the money now and get a good one, we shouldn't have to replace it ever. By the time it wears out, we'll be too old to fish. 😆

At least in Virginia you are not allowed to give rabies shots unless you are a vet. So our dogs go for that.

On this day 54 years ago I was literally drooling over the Detroit Tigers World Series game 7 victory. I was so excited I probably messed my pants once or twice during the game. I celebrated with a full bottle and was down for the rest of the night. I was 9 months old but I remember it well.

I started stuffing the new insulation in behind the shelves today.

20221010_131958_HDR.jpg

I used all of the old 1/2 insulation to get a double layer then a layer of 1 inch foam. Maybe an R-11 total.

With limited rime I did tend to the grow shelf a bit. Raised the lights and added an LED grow spot light. I am seriously considering replacing the florescent with LED but that will require thought about budget and the right lighting.

Our tenant turned the keys to the rental place this evening. The inspection went well and the place as good as when she moved in. She added a nice sturdy work bench that will stay.

I took a picture of the backyard seen from the big window seat since the leaves are just starting to turn and we can use it when we advertise.

I will be weeding the Pachysandra this week. I will also scope out where I need to install some more Rose of Sharron.

Chores and shopping in the bigger town. Visiting with neighbors. I stopped in at the Hobby Lobby and found a round wooden table for inside the greenhouse. The greenhouse is handicapped accessible for husband, and I thought a lunch table and two chairs in the corner in there would be a great place to have lunch when it's cold outside.

Forgot to mention.

Today marks 30 years for The Princess and myself. My sister brought a cake for Sunday dinner last night. The Princess cut the cake with a sword.

Princess sounds like my kind of person! Congrats! ⚔️

@Neb happy anniversary!
@Amish Heart great idea on the table and chairs, I may have to do that once we get our greenhouse up. We are so behind we are in front at this point.
Today went to the laundromat, then grocery shopping, then had my therapy appointment. Cleaned the RV, and now am relaxing until the hubs gets back from working on the property. Took out some steaks for dinner, will grill those up and have a salad with some sourdough bread.
I also splurged and got some ice cream, I thought for sure we already had some in the freezer, and got my husbands hopes up last night (he has quite the sweet tooth)- so it will be a good surprise for him tonight.
Start an 8 day work week tomorrow.

I finally had a good day, had a little energy and got a lot done. My kitchen is no longer a complete disaster, only a partial disaster in one corner and I got all the dishes done. Still have the stove and floor to clean.

I then broke out the ironing board and can of niagra. I got all my nice furing shirts ironed, starched the fronts, collars, cuffs and plackets. I iron 10 shirts every fall. They are ready when needed. Does anyone else iron flannel shirts? One of my pet peeves, flannel is the worst. The placket rolls up making it hard to button. Got 3 denim and 6 flannels ironed also. Just my nice casual shirts that I might wear to play music or other public event.

Also got all the linens rotated and washed, folded and put away. Oh, I remembered it was garbage day, missed it last week. Got the bins rolled down to the highway with time to spare. Soon as the last load gets out of the dryer I’m done. Oops, peppers in the dehydrator should be done… still gotta check on that.

Noticed beauty berries are ripe, a bumper crop. Every year I tell myself I'm going to make jelly from them... I never get around to it.

Congrats @Neb

The dehydrator quit with a load of tomatoes in it. I've tried to deal with the fan bearings numerous times and I'm done. Just going to pitch it. Need to pick all the green tomatoes and make them into relish but not very motivated. Haven't canned anything this year. Most days just getting out of bed takes all the motivation I have.
Put the AFM disabler in my truck, early days yet but seems like it's working like it should. Hoping to buy time, maybe even avoid the lifter failure. Why engineers have to ruin everything that used to work I'll never know.
Dad got admitted to a care home today. He called me to say he was sitting on his army bunk and was deployed on his last military service on the west side of Detroit and would be going home tomorrow afternoon. He was only in the reserves for two years so I'm not sure why his mind has chosen this path, but that's ok. So long as he's not fighting everyone and cussing us out he can have whatever reality he wants.
Peanut I used to iron with niagra too, brings back memories of mom and I ironing all of dad's work shirts. Didn't really enjoy the job but I loved the smell of that starch on the hot cotton.

I've decided I'm a vampire I think. I sleep all day and part of the night.
my biological clock is smoking crack or something!
My mother taught us not to wake her before 11:00 if we didn't want beating. Now that I am retired I get up around 11:00.

It is what works good for me.

Happy Anniversary Ben & Princess.

I was going to reply to more posts but my train of thought de-railed. Allergies are hitting hard. Been having pollen on my windshield.
Went outside to spray weed killer (supposed to work within minutes to hours) on some of the weeds taking over stuff. Went to Panda (my favorite restaurant) and stuffed myself. Went to Samsclub after and found they were still out of some of the stuff we wanted. Helped an old man in a riding cart by loading his water cases into his truck for him. Went to McDonalds and my brother bought me a shake. Back home and handed mom stuff to make food bc I was feeling lightheaded and not up to cooking. Weed killer didn't work.

I'm drinking lots of water and taking it easy. Gonna try to get some sleep after I take my meds in a few minutes.

Yesterday I was off, so I took the wife for a ride in the country, tried to use all back roads. She is so restrained that she really needed to get out and see the country side along with all the changing colors in the trees, fields and farms. We love the old "traditional" farm steads.... It may have put me a day behind on my projects but sometimes you just have to say what the h

Today is a regular work day so I need to be getting rolling. That hour and a half commute each way really eats up your free time....

I did order a replacement charge controller and some diodes, I figure it will be 2 weeks before I get around to installing all my collected parts... If I don't say what the .... again.. ;)

Gotta run, already late.....

I am not Borg. I do not comply.
I generally vaccinate our animals ( many many goats and sheep each year for CDT and pneumonia) but I have stuck myself on accident with a CDT shot at least twice. It just broke the skin, nothing happened but I would somehow worry about getting any rabies vaccine in me on accident so I prefer not to do those.
I do wonder if you can buy the vaccine or if you have to have a vet prescription for it , going to ask next time I go to TP

Shopping today
Don't feel like it but we seem to always get out of stuff no matter how much we buy .....now we are out of garbage bags and dish soap. I buy these things in large quantities but they don't seem to last ''Oh and always out of bananas....I need to figure out how to heat our greenhouse....

I'm watching more "how to" videos on Youtube. I want to learn how to put up and mud drywall. I like Stud Pack and Jeff Thorman. There are more that I watch but those are the names that stick out right now.

Waiting on my brother to feel well enough to go to the store with me, but if he doesn't, I'll go without him. He's out of some of his meds. He forgot to call in his thyroid meds and ran out so he's a zombie. Allergies are really getting him right now. Trying to remember what was on my shopping list.

I am ON FIRE today... a regular white tornado, lol. Woke to a bee-yoo-ti-ful fall morning, and I instantly thought about going for a ride, but it was still 45 degrees according to the thermometer on my front porch, lol. I noticed it was dead calm, so I figured I'd have a campfire in the stone fire ring and burn off some of those unsightly (and worthless) lumber scraps in my yard, as well as the two big piles of dead lopped branches which have been eyesores since February or March. So I jumped on the controlled burn option and wound up getting rid of ALL that cr@p, and I had a nice toasty fire to boot, lol. Boy, that bonfire was HOT, like the temperature of the sun, lol... I went from sweatpants & longjohn top to shorts & T-shirt in record time, and I was STILL sweatin' from the heat. I broke up those branches and fed 'em into the fire, and all that old junk lumber is gone too (nothing treated or painted, I would've trashed that), so I'm a happy camper! :)

I also watered all trees & plants, even though there was heavy dew or possibly rain last night or this morning. I filled the large trash bin with pulled weeds, including 35 goathead vines which were trying to creep up on me... I counted 'em, lol. Some of those vines were mature and loaded with goatheads turning brown, but I caught 'em all in time and trashed 'em so my yard is looking goathead-free!!! You have NO IDEA how happy I am about THAT... remember when I was pulling, scuffing, and torching hundreds of goathead vines in 3-to-4-hour weeding sessions? Well, those days are OVER, lol, and these 35 vines I pulled today show a marked decrease in the goathead population in my yard! Here's hoping I see WAY fewer goldurned goatheads next year! My eradication program is working! HALLELUJAH!!! And the other unsightly weeds I pulled today really filled the trash bin pronto, but my yard looks so much better!!! Weeding is winding down too!!!

After dousing the ashes of my bonfire, I wrapped up the outdoor work and moved inside to shower, tackle a sink full of dishes from the excellent dinner I made last night, and then deal with laundry, lol. First I washed my 'skate shoes' and my house slippers because both pairs were dusty & dirty, now they're sitting on the back steps in the bright sunshine. I wanted to do those earlier, but we've had rainy weather off & on for a week, aye? Next, I washed all the bathroom rugs, they were looking kinda funky and dirty or muddy too, now they're hanging on a line I strung across my front porch. I put a regular load of laundry in afterward, that's running right now as I pound a cold beer, lol. I already had cider and tea hours ago, you understand. But I'm knocking out some chores today, lemme tell ya, mainly because I wanna ride the thumper in the mountains manana if this fine weather holds! Get this BS done today, and go ballistic on the bike tomorrow, lol. ;)

I must say, I REALLY ENJOYED the bonfire this morning, even though it was HOT, lol. That's another reason why I'm gonna stick around today and simply enjoy hanging out on my property: even though I doused or friggin' drowned the hot ashes, sometimes campfires have a way of coming back to life, and I don't wanna go riding just to return and discover that my home has burned to the ground, lol. Better to deal with these other tasks today, and ride off tomorrow morning with a clear conscience. Jeez, I just looked at the clock, and I've been doing stuff nonstop for 7 HOURS now... and NO, I am NOT high on crack or meth, lol. But the rest of the day WILL be used for enjoyment, might even have a BBQ, though that would mean a quick run to town, so maybe not... I have plenty of food & beer in the fridge, good leftovers and all, so maybe I'll just work with whatever I have, 10-4? And save fuel too, no whorehouse Democratic Scumbag Party prices at the pump, LOL...

ALRIGHT, YOUSE H&CL HEROES, I'M OFF TO CAUSE TROUBLE IN ANOTHER THREAD... CHEERS!!!
