This afternoon I got a call from the sales lady at the local Toyota dealer. They got a new Tacoma 4x4 in today and she knew I was interested. So, I made the 50 mile drive over there to see it. Long story short, tomorrow I will be bringing it home. And I won't have to borrow a dime! Car dealers are so desperate for used cars right now that they gave me 3,000 over NADA book value for my car, and I have just enough cash saved up to cover the rest. If you're looking for a brand new vehicle, now is the time to buy. The value of your trade in is going up faster than the price for new vehicles.
Enjoy!

Picked a few cherry tomatoes from my garden. They were pretty good. Today I shopped for ingredients fir a casserole for ‘dinner Bible study’ tomorrow at church. I’m going to make a spaghetti casserole.
mover the weekend I bought tickets to see Gabriel Iglesias when he comes to Tulsa in August. Birthday present for hubby. His birthday is August 2.
I had never heard of him so looked him up - funny. Have fun and happy bday WoC Hubby.

We had been helping sponsor a bike in the 1960 and older Cannonball race. The riders nor anyone but the promoters know where the race will end up every evening. Well today it ended up just 7 miles from our home. I got word 30 minutes before they arrived in Branson. The boy and I headed out to meet the crew as the rolled into The Chateau On The Lake. The rider we have been sponsoring is on a 1939 knuckle there was close to 100 vintage bikes that had come around 250 miles on the first day of the the 1350 mile race. I love vintage motorcycles and there were some fantastic machines there this evening. I couldn’t believe how lucky we were to get to be involved in this fun!

I had a lot planned for outside. After 2 days of sun things were finally dry enough to work on the corral. Oh, well, woke up to rain. I got rain bands off tropical storm Elsa all day long.

Thinking about hunting a few chanterelles tomorrow. I can do that in the rain. A friend sent me pics, they were everywhere near him.

Yesterday was a bit of a mess, the wife fell at 02:00 got all bruised up, but nothing broken. Then a regular work day. In the afternoon/evening I installed the vent pipes and made have of the manifold for the supply side of my rain barrels. It was 100F outside and I was sweating like a stuck hog.....

The wife needed to change the needle on her sewing machine, she couldn't see to install it so I had to break off what I was doing to install it, blind hole you need to be looking up to see what you are doing (my eyes are too old for this s), I finally just turned the machine upside down and then it was fairly easy to install because gravity was working with me... Wife was not pleased to see her machine upside down.......

The weather forecast has rain coming in tonight, so I plan to take the day off to mow the lawn, finish the rain barrels, and do the trash chore...

Speaking of trash chore, we got a notice that the trash collection company is having trouble meeting their collection obligations because of LABOR SHORTAGES - It seems if you give people free money to do nothing you can't get them to do anything... :(

I was at a small government building conducting some business when a government official asked if I knew of any Professional Plasters? A employee accidentally caused a dent on the drywall of a recently remodeled room. They were having difficulties getting a Contractor to give them an estimate. I'm thinking a doorknob sized hole in drywall. Nope, it was about the size of a quarter about a less than a 1/8" deep. I finish running my errands and headed home. Yep just where I had put it, a small tub of premixed plaster, still good! Out to my shop for a box knife and putty knives. Back to the government building. Box knife to remove the torn drywall paper and put a slight bevel around the edges of the dent. A dap of plaster and a few passes with a putty knife. Government Official found some matching leftover paint. Told her to give the repair a good day to dry before painting. As shallow as the dent was I doubt if there will be any shrinkage.

Figure I saved many lost hours of government "productivity" and a bunch of Taxpayer's money. Next time I'm in town i'll take a screwdriver, hammer and a paint brush with me in case she hasn't found a Professional Painter to touch up the repair.

Who would have thought that would be the result? :sarcasm:

I guy I used to work with once told me not to try to save the government money because it will cost you.... Now an inspector will come by, see the patch job you did for free and write you a ticket for contracting without a license.......

Love that Indian. Very cool bike

Lazy day so far. Got the bread machine up and running. I never tried making bread by hand, and for lack of much counter space it appears to be a messy job. The oven in my stove quite working quite some time ago as well, so I'm down to using my toaster oven for stuff. I live alone so this arrangement isn't a problem.

Walked first to avoid rain and heat.
Processed 9 pounds of apples for either apple butter or pie filling. Added 2 pounds of blueberries just because.
Made pudding for DH.
Getting ready to cook up sausage, a quart of the bell peppers and onions, and 2 dozen eggs for breakfasts.
Will go to prayer meeting tonight.

While integrating flow controllers into fume hoods for the CDC-NIOSH I discovered the comm protocol they used was faulty. Ask for the flow from the first device and it would reply with the flow rate for one of the other devices. I suggested to my customer that they should return the devices and get the money refunded.

He told me that the refund would go back into the the general fund and not his budget. It was less costly to his lab budget to pay me to detect when the widget was acting up and repeat the request than to go through the process of getting additional funding.

Today I worked in the shop to gather all of the decades old hazardous waste to be recycled. While doing so some turkeys checked out what I was up to.

Found stuff that has to be 35 years old.

I was hoping to hit the fruit truck for cherries and apricots but most of the fruit was hit by the heat dome of death and everything was literally cooked on the trees and is a bust.
Here too Clem. There are some cherries, but I traveled 2 hrs. to find apricots. Trying to keep things alive in my yard/garden. Do you still have the high and dry temps too? We've been upper 90's and 100's for 2-3 weeks now and 90's + in forecast.
Took the Mazda to the Toyota dealer and traded her in on this...View attachment 69127
It's nothing fancy, no butt warmers or sunroof or anything like that, but it's brand new and it's mine - I don't owe anybody a damn dime on it! I've got some steps and a bull bar ordered, just to dress it up a bit...
Congrats!

I have wondered about the possibility of you and your dad sharing a place. There must be a reason and I or we do not have to know it, but since you are both looking for places, it could be a possibility.
We have suggested that several times.
He won't commit to it either way.
We even found a property that had 2- 2 bedroom homes on it connected by a 3 season porch.
We would each have a small 2 bedroom 1, bath home.
He could have had the 2 car garage.
He would have been responsible for his utilities- no rent.
We would share the 3 season porch and the yard.
He wouldn't commit either way.
I was going to purchase with VA Home loan.

That sounds like the perfect arrangement.
Maybe you can talk him into it.

Last week, my sister, myself and Dad looked at duplexes in next town over.
No Luck anywhere.
In between looking for Dad a place to live.
Worked the American Legion Firework Stand 10 very hot dry days.
2-10 hour shifts depending on who was working that shift.
We almost completely sold out of everything.
Just had a few Sparklers left, bottle rocks maybe a dozen, maybe 5 bricks of 2000 firecrackers.
Tuesday night went to Bingo.
Called Table Bingo- nerve racking for the first time since 2014.
But will call Table Bingo first and third Tuesday of the month.
We're short handed those days.
Happy belated birthday Snappy1.

Unfortunately right now isn't a good time to buy. It is a very good time to sell! Youngest son put their self-remodeled home on the market. They had 5 offers ALL above their asking price within a few days.
