What's everybody doing today?

Spent all morning on the phone with Home Depot and citi bank. Someone charged $3700 to our account. The most disturbing part was that they sent rebate info from my junk email account that isn't tied to our HD acct and had the order # from a purchase we made on Wed. Citi bank canceled the card and sent the info to their fraud dpt. If I hadn't found those emails in my SENT folder we wouldn't have known until we got the bill in Dec.

What a headache!

YEP! My identity was stolen 3 years back. Talk about a nightmare. They were trying to open home equity lines of credit on our house and as many credit cards online as they could. Every day I dreaded going to the mail box to see how many letters from CC companies and banks were in there. And I would have to spend time calling and straightening it out
Had to inform the Treasury Dept., had to make out a police report at the State Police barracks, had to inform the IRS because they had my SS# and its tied to EVERYTHING ya know, had to inform the Credit Score folks and put a temporary stop on all credit lines for me so it would stop them in their tracks. Now we have LifeLock and they've stopped 3 different times our names and SS#'s were on the "dark" web for sale. Its worth the $40 a month for both of us.
Hubby's SS# was being used at the IRS so now he has to have them send him a PIN# for our taxes every year.

Know what tripped them up? They used our old land line phone number on the applications but we got rid of it the year before. Some people are disgusting. Seriously.

Whiteout conditions.
I only go out to untangle Strawberry from that mean old azela bush.
Don't want to take chance falling on that new knee.

That's awful. What I don't get is how they got my junk email address AND the order #. If they had broken into my email or HD account, there is no connection. My name is on the junk email and hubbys name and email are on the HD card. The accounts have no connection.
 
@Amish Heart I have had the ankle checked out and x -rayed and there is not breaks or fractures so the doctor said it was badly bruised/sprained. The x-rays do not pick up ligament damage though unless you have an MRI done.

From my nursing days I can say I have a grade 3 sprain and upper leg sprain as there is instability through my ankle and the joint is floppy and because the rest of the leg to my knee is swelling when my foot is down all the time. I have ligament damage (either stretched or slightly torn) on the inside of my foot where the log hit and one of the major ones on the outside of my foot leading up my leg which gives the ankle stability, probably because the log pushed my whole ankle sideways from the impact which I felt happen.

Best course of action as it will be like this for a few weeks to come is put arnica cream on regularly to minimise the bruising, strap it with an elastic bandage firmly to give ankle support and minimise swelling, take panadol for the pain and elevate and or ice it if it swells. DH's "she'll be right I am ex military" attitude has changed somewhat to "oh now I am worried it is a serious injury" and is doing more around the house after seeing how much my leg swelled yesterday. Bit hard when I am the carer usually and the roles are being reversed and we are moving too.

I will do what I can and rest and elevate the leg when needed. When I can weight bare without an elastic bandage holding it together I will do ankle strengthening exercises.

We actually had the bank pay someone else's Car payment of $1600.00 from our account. At the time it depleted everything we had. We went through a month of headaches for a mistake a bank person made!

Now a fire..
I just went outside to shut the coop..Its the time of night when the western sky at the horizon is painted in a mixed display of half a dozen shades of orange yellow and pinks to a fading pale blue sky above, darker blues above. The night sky pans to the east, at the horizon a snow capped mountain stark white pierces a darker twilight blue sky..
cold as it is , I had to stand out by the coop, in my jammies and gaze at the sky for a few..

Cloudy and off and on rain here today. Been going at it hard this weekend, so we just spent the day chilling out and getting ready to head back to work tomorrow. Did give some thought and just getting started on making plans for next years garden and on a possible solar project to power our basement with and run an aquaponics system from.
 
Finally, finally finished cleaning out the garage. It was a huge job. Things from my storage shed were slammed in there last year when son and his girlfriend moved into our travel trailer and needed to store things in the shed. What a mess. That's why I have a shed in the first place. Monday is coming too soon for my liking. We decorated the Christmas tree after dinner. The old men cats liked that we had the big ladder out.
 
My son is coming in the morning to dig Strawberry out.
So she can take care of business.
Those are his words not mine.
So far we got a little over 7 inches of snow.
Can't open screen door to let her out.
She's disgusted she had to use puppy training pads.
She huffed and put herself to bed about an hour ago.
Everyone stay safe.

My son is a good guy.
He got here right after work cleared away drifted snow,
broke ice to free the screen door so Strawberry could take care of her business.
She repaid him by promptly taking care of business.
Then rolling in the snow, jumping on him to be petted.
Not doing much today.
Letting Strawberry in and out alot.
Broke apart rest of the 1 inch ice moved it away from the door.
In between times of letting Strawberry out will work on crocheted shawl for Christmas gift for daughter in law.
Lunch will be turkey vegetable soup.
Have no clue what will be for supper.
Got some smoked duck, macaroni salad left from Thanksgiving.
That will probably be it.

Drove 1,200 miles round trip. Left after work, drove until "no more" and checked into a motel. Up in the morning, stopped for breakfast, fuel, lunch and supper. Spent a few days visiting youngest son, DIL and grand-kids for Thanksgiving. Left early afternoon, stopped for fuel, supper and drove until "no more" and spent the night at another motel. Left early morning, fuel, breakfast, lunch and Wal-Mart (must haves the wife wanted) before arriving home. I'm bushed. Unload, put everything away, shower and change. Fixed my supper and slept though a football game before heading to bed.
 
Week 2 of hubby's vacation. He finally fixed a light on one of his trucks. He had to drill holes in a part just to get it apart from another piece. They fit together snug so its all good lol The manual had one sentence on how to fix it but the pieces were so stuck together it didn't work the way the instructions said.

I'm going through my gloves looking for holes. I found one in a finger of pair of cheap ones so I sewed it shut
Hubby went into town to pick up some things the store didn't have on sunday ( dog food and biscuits)
I made some cookies
Had some leftovers for luch
Supper will the rest of the bean soup and the bread from yesterday
 
Round 1 of today is that I have paid all the bills and left the remainder in our bank account and shortly I will put on a load of washing in the washing machine for DH.

DH went to pick up a friend who is bringing a tractor over to flatten the garden beds in the back yard before our move. Only problem is that his new to him car has a flat battery in town so they are waiting on roadside assist club whom we are a member of to bring out a new battery for the car. Good it happened now and not when we moved so we can have a fully working new battery when we move to the farm.

DH said I should call it a homestead as it is only 1.21 acres :) , but it is big enough for us to do everything we want to do which is grow our own veges and fruit trees .
 
We call our place in Kansas a farm, even though it's just 23 acres. All the farms around us are lots bigger. We have 15 acres that is farmable. The rest is outbuildings, tree areas, and the farmhouse. The farm our house is on used to be much bigger, about 60 acres, but parts were sold off. Our end acreage corners katycorner to my great grandma's farm, so I think that's cool. My grandparent's farm was one of the biggest around. Now it's down to 20 acres, and is about 3 miles from us.
I say, if you farm it, it's a farm. We made great use of the 1 acre in New Mexico. It's all used. Animals, growing food. People who come over call it a farm. Ha. It's just an acre.
 
Drove to the city today and picked up 2400 pounds of flooring along with some more tools and some other building supplies. My little pretend pickup had a tough time on the steep hills coming home pulling the heavy trailer.
Now I have plenty of work to do at home! Tomorrow I will start pulling all the baseboard trim in prep for all the new flooring. Also bought another 4 gallons of interior paint but that painting is the wife's job - I was plenty happy with the colors we already had on the walls.
Also picked up the electric items I needed to move the switches in the bathroom where I switched the door from right hand to left hand opening.
 
Just finished making dinner and off to granddaughter's American Heritage Girls meeting. She has to bring a double layer cake tonight to finish off her cake badge. Turned out pretty good. Work was somber, losing one of our former employees hit all of us today. She would come to work bruised, and we all talked to her about it, but she wouldn't leave him. Sad day.
Made cabbage rolls for dinner and shredded the rest of the cabbage and put in the dehydrator.

I really hope he is a good man. I catch myself getting frustrated with him sometimes while we are working then I remember he's 10 years old not 20.

My husband has the same problem. I have to keep reminding him that they aren't one of his men.
 
HB, that pic reminds me of my younger days. Step dad had me on a tractor, usin a hammer, a hoe, what ever he was doing by the time I was 9. The more I learned the more he gave me. By the time I was 12 or so he trusted me to plow neighbors gardens, or rake a hay field on my own, including hooking up and greasing the equipment. There was times I'm sure he wanted to put his head thru a wall (sometimes so did I), but he just kept working with me till I got it, then moved on to something else. Just try and be patient. He'll get there. Looks to me from that pic, he's doing a good job already. He must have a really good teacher.
