    Preparations Update

Something a little different for my preps. Physical fitness has always been my number one prep and it took a hit this winter. Had surgery Thanksgiving to work on an issue from a procedure LAST Christmas. It's been a pain in the butt and left me feeling crappy sometimes, butt I'm trying to put...

    What's everybody doing today?

Took today off, recuperating from hand surgery. Minor stuff, they saw some stuff they needed to send in. First checkup yesterday. Results were negative.🥳 Helping my wife recuperate from hip replacement which was delayed for almost a year. All is well.🙏

    Training logs

This past summer was the summer of bicycling for me. Haven’t tallied up the total miles yet, but I was training for a 200 and 100 mile race. My father passed about 1 1/2 weeks before the race so I had to DNS. I was pounding out century rides getting ready and was happy that a 63 yr old...

    Preparations Update

Been awhile since I’ve posted. My #1 prep has always been physical fitness. This past summer was a bicycling summer. Lots of miles. I’ll post about that in fitness section. Our monthly Thrive orders have been rolling in. We use them pretty consistently and are very familiar with their products...

    Training logs

Last week I had 3 bike rides that were short but had intense (for me) climbing sections. Followed that up with a 101 mile ride yesterday.

Thank you for your kind thoughts. I know I don't post as much as I used to but I'm always prepping.😁

    Preparations Update

Signed up for Defensive Pistol Level 2 class. Also started a subscription with Thrivelife freeze dried foods. We've used their products extensively and now we can push our preps to the next level. We've already doubled our water storage capability which is always the key prep.

    Preparations Update

Last meetup was on comms with a great ham operator presenting. That was our first meet at our new location. Low turnout even though well advertised, but I thought the new location might have thrown some folks. Now I just don't know.

    Preparations Update

Had a disappointing turnout at our meet-up. It was advertised well in advance and we have a consistent place to meet. Had another great presenter, this time holistic tinctures, salves, and liniments with locally sourced ingredients. She is incredibly qualified. We don't take roll call or have a...

    Training logs

After finishing my 10th, 100 mile winter ultrarun last year and receiving my plaque I decided to switch to the bike division and the shorter 50k here in about 2 weeks. A nice aspect of switching to a shorter race on bike is there's a lot less physical stress and weight loss. In the gym I'm...

    Preparations Update

I've been busy studying for my paraprofessional exam at work so studying for my ham radio license has tapered off. I've managed to secure a consistent meeting place for our prepper group. Hopefully we can have a bit better attendance. Our meeting last month was comms. Had a great guest speaker...

    Training logs

After finishing my 10th 100 mile ultra winter run last year I finished a 17 year odyssey. Received my plaque and am finding it hard to push that hard this year. I'll probably lift as heavy as my body will permit and back down to a 50k bike race and let some injuries heal for a year or so.

    What's everybody doing today?

Water preps are finished, it's a bit of a process how I do it with gallon jugs. There are periods of time in the summer when our preps are very low. During the winter we have about 80 gals. stored. Fuel preps are reset with the exception of 1 more 25 lb. propane tank I need to fill. Received my...
