Not sure if I ever shared this one. This barn was on our property disguised as an old home. We was going to have the fire dept come in to burn it down for practice. Thankfully we didnt. My brother was pulling off old shingles that covered the house sides and found a paper sign, then they all got excited and started to tear off the whole outside and this was underneath. It is all original but the T. There was a window there so we replaced the board and I painted it to match the sign.

I know I couldn't keep up the necessary maintenance on a big old wood bulit barn ,

I would have to let it go down.
Some folks around here , sell off the wood for wood projects to woodworkers.
Most every barn in my area is made of rough sawn oak.
Still good wood.
Some from the late 1800s.

Yep,
200 year old rough sawn oak are on the walls in my dad's house.
Those planks are in the living room, down the hallway, in the laundry room, in the family room, in the attic, in the basement.
Love it.Just like it is not whitewashed.
